Richmond star Tom Lynch facing four-game ban after being sent straight to AFL Tribunal for striking

Star Richmond forward Tom Lynch is facing a four-week sanction for striking Crow Jordan Butts after being sent straight to the AFL Tribunal.
The potential month-long ban would see Lynch miss a trip to Perth in round 19 to face West Coast in what is shaping as the battling Eagles' best chance at a second victory in 2025.
Lynch left commentators and fans speechless during the second quarter at the MCG on Sunday, snapping while scuffling with Butts off the ball.
Trying to break contact with the Adelaide defender amid another ugly beating, Lynch swung a punch into the back of Butt's head in a move reminiscent of a haymaker, making significant contact.
The Match Review Officer deemed the incident intentional contact with severe impact and high contact, deeming the incident so serious it needed to be sent to Tuesday's Tribunal.
Due to the seriousness of the charges, the Tiger will likely face a minimum of four weeks on the sidelines should he be found guilty.
Lynch's hip pocket didn't escape notice either, with the forward also fined for a second strike and engaging in a melee, the dual fines totalling nearly $3000.
Meanwhile, Fremantle spearhead Patrick Voss will be breathing a sigh of relief after avoiding any penalty for his dumping tackle on Saint Marcus Windhager.
During the Dockers' crucial win over St Kilda on Sunday, Voss caught the Saints defender in a powerful tackle in the goalsquare, lifting Windhager from the ground and ploughing him into the turf.
The umpire paid a free kick, and Windhager was taken from the ground for an HIA exam but later returned.
Voss has already served a three-week ban in 2025 for a clumsy strike that left Richmond's Nick Vlastuin with a broken nose during Gather Round.
Josh Treacy was fined $1875 for his scuffle after the run-down tackle of Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera.

Latest Eagles premiership hero hangs up the boots

Jeremy McGovern took the crucial mark that kicked off West Coast's grand final-winning play in 2018. West Coast premiership hero Dom Sheed has announced his retirement, calling time on his 165-game career. Sheed was ruled out before the start of the season after tearing his ACL in February, having played just 24 games since 2022 due to injury and form. With the Eagles entering a new era under Andrew McQualter, Sheed ends his time in the blue and gold but will forever have his place in Eagles folklore for his grand-final winning goal in 2018. Sheed was on the end of the play that started with Jeremy McGovern's brave intercept mark in the dying moments of the contest, with Sheed proving a dead-eye from the boundary to put the Eagles in front. With McGovern forced into medical retirement last month in leaves Liam Ryan as the only player who was part of that play still active on the Eagles list. Sheed will front the media at 12:45pm. More to come...

AFLW superstar Monique Conti and fellow Richmond player Rhyan Mansell go public with new relationship

Australian sporting superstar Monique Conti and fellow Richmond player Rhyan Mansell appear to have gone public with their new relationship. Conti posted a selfie of the pair smiling in the mirror and tagged Mansell, writing 'hehe'. He shared the same photo with a green heart. It's unclear how long they have been together, but they have exchanged cheeky comments on social media. Conti recently posted a series of photos from her trip to Bali with Mansell leaving a smiley face in the comments section, to which she replied with 'mwah'. Conti is in the middle of AFLW pre-season training ahead of Round 1 in just over six weeks. The superstar midfielder will be looking to continue her stunning career that already has her among the competition's best. The 25-year-old already has a host of accolades to her name, including the AFLW best and fairest award in 2023 and the best on ground medal in the 2018 grand final with former club Western Bulldogs. Conti won the club best and fairest in her final year at the Bulldogs before joining the Tigers ahead of the 2020 season. She has since won the club best and fairest in all six seasons at the Tigers. As well as being one of the AFLW's greatest ever players, Conti has also carved out a successful basketball career in the WNBL. Despite prioritising AFLW, she has still won the WNBL championship with the Southside Flyers. She played the most recent season for Geelong United. Meanwhile, Mansell has played 65 matches for the Tigers since his debut in 2021, establishing himself as a key member of the young forward line with his pressure and goal sense. Conti, 25, was previously in a relationship with former Richmond player Sydney Stack, but that ended in 2020.
