Lebanon's health minister approves full medical coverage for Beirut blast victims
In a statement, the committee said the decision followed coordination with the Health Ministry and came after it presented detailed accounts of the victims' ongoing suffering and medical needs.
The ministry also expressed readiness, in collaboration with donor agencies, to provide prosthetics, medical supplies, and additional support, pending parliamentary approval of a draft law submitted by the committee.
The proposed law seeks to grant blast victims the same benefits afforded to wounded Lebanese army personnel.

26 Palestinians killed in latest wave of Israeli bombings on Gaza
The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza announced on Saturday that hospitals received the bodies of 59 martyrs, including nine retrieved from under the rubble, and 208 injuries over 24 hours. According to Al Mayadeen's correspondent, the bombardment intensified in the early hours, striking multiple densely populated areas. Casualties were reported in several neighborhoods, with a number of those killed being women and children. Among the victims was Yousef al-Zaq, a figure whose life came to symbolize the enduring struggle of the Palestinian people. He was killed when an airstrike struck his family's apartment on Al-Thawra Street in central Gaza. Born in 2008 inside Israeli prisons, Yousef was once recognized as the youngest prisoner in the world; a child whose first breath was taken behind bars, beside his detained mother, Fatima al-Zaq. Their story captured international attention at the time. Both were eventually released, but Yousef's life, marked from the start by occupation and resistance, ended under the same shadow that defined his birth. The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has issued a grave warning over the dire conditions faced by tens of thousands of pregnant and breastfeeding women in Gaza, as extreme hunger continues to jeopardize their health and the survival of their newborns. In a statement shared by UNFPA's Arab States Regional Office on X, the agency revealed that approximately 50,000 women in Gaza 'haven't eaten for days.' Malnourishment is preventing mothers from breastfeeding, while baby formula remains unavailable due to ongoing shortages. This has resulted in a spike in premature and underweight births. 'Forty-eight percent of the people who died from blast injuries among our colleagues' households were children, and 40 percent were under 10 years old.' According to the report, over 2% of those surveyed have died since October 7, 2023, and 7% have sustained injuries. Around 75% of deaths were war-related, mainly due to explosions. The survey also underscored the collapse of Gaza's healthcare system. Two-thirds of chronically ill patients reported interruptions in treatment. Even among MSF families, who had relatively better access to care, 20% experienced at least one injury from blasts or gunfire within their household. Israeli soldier suicides surge amid Gaza, Lebanon war trauma
Israeli media reported on Thursday the discovery of a dead reserve soldier in the illegal settlement neighborhood of Har Homa in occupied al-Quds. The incident comes amid a spike in suicides among Israeli occupation soldiers since the beginning of the war on Gaza in October 2023. According to Haaretz, the number of suicides in the Israeli occupation forces has risen to unprecedented levels since the war began. The report revealed that between October 7 and the end of 2023, seven soldiers took their own lives, while 21 suicides were recorded in 2024. Since the start of 2025, approximately 14 soldiers have reportedly died by suicide. Despite the rising trend, the Israeli occupation forces has refused to disclose the official number of suicides for the current year, stating it will release a full report only at the end of 2025. The secrecy has raised questions about transparency within the military command, particularly as psychological trauma among troops continues to escalate. Over the weekend, another occupation soldier reportedly took his own life after suffering from severe psychological distress following his deployment in Gaza and southern Lebanon. The war's mental health toll has become a critical issue for the Israeli regime, especially as reports indicate a severe manpower shortage in the ranks. As reported by Haaretz, the Israeli military has begun enlisting reservists suffering from trauma and other psychological conditions, even if they are currently undergoing treatment. One commander told the newspaper, 'Because our soldiers are not committed to fighting, we are forced to recruit individuals who are not in a stable mental state,' adding, 'We fight with what we have, even if we are certain their psychological conditions are unstable.' The total number of Israeli soldier suicides since October 7, 2023, has reportedly reached at least 35 by the end of 2024. Informed sources noted that the military has buried several soldiers who died by suicide without holding military funerals or issuing official statements. One officer told Haaretz that the military has recently resorted to pressuring soldiers to engage in combat but is facing difficulties in mobilizing them for service. The report also revealed manipulation in the published compliance rates, with both officers and soldiers confirming that the official figures do not accurately represent the true level of participation among reservists. Security sources stressed to the newspaper that the Israeli military needs to increase its troop numbers fourfold in order to control key points in the Gaza Strip, amid mounting security challenges.
