Mumbai Gets India's 1st Institute of Creative Technologies: Courses To Jobs, All You Need To Know

In a major boost to India's digital and creative economy sector, the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT) will open admissions for its first batch starting this August.
The first batch of 300 students will begin classes in September on National Film Development Corporation's premises on Mumbai's Pedder Road.
What will students learn?
The institute will offer industry-driven courses in the AVGC-XR (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics, and Extended Reality) sector.
The institute, which was announced by Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting, Ashwini Vaishnaw, at World Audio Visual Entertainment Summit (WAVES) in May 2025, is backed by prestigious global partnerships and industry leaders, a Ministry of Information and Broadcasting release said.
The inaugural academic offering includes six specialised courses in gaming, four courses in Post Production and eight courses in Animation, Comics and XR.
Collaboration with foreign universities, global companies
IICT recently signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of York, United Kingdom, paving the way for collaborative research, faculty exchange and global certification pathways.
Leading global companies such as Google, YouTube, Adobe, Meta, Microsoft, NVIDIA and JioStar have committed to long-term collaborations with IICT.
Their support encompasses curriculum development, scholarships, internships, startup incubation and placement opportunities.
IICT, Chief Executive Officer, Dr Vishwas Deoskar stated that the vision is to make India a global powerhouse in the AVGC-XR sector by nurturing world-class talent.
The courses are designed to meet global standards while being rooted in India's dynamic creative potential. The detailed curriculum is expected to be announced later this month.
With the global AVGC-XR industry projected to grow exponentially, IICT's comprehensive course offerings aim to build a future-ready talent pool that will contribute significantly to India's creative economy and position the country as a leader in immersive and digital content technologies, the release said.

From dancing on moving trains to recording oneself at the edge of a cliff, some people really take it too far, risking their lives just for some likes and comments. In a similar display of absurdity, a woman has grabbed attention online for executing a bizarre stunt. It involves her sitting atop a leafless tree and calling herself 'pedo ki rani (the queen of trees)." The video of the same was posted by the woman on her Instagram handle, sparking mixed reactions. The woman was seen perched on the bare branches of a tree, clad in a red saree. Rolling hills and a distant townscape featured in the backdrop. While the exact height of the tree was unclear from the video, it appeared to be towering. The dramatic visual was deeply unsettling, more so because the tree where the woman sat was swaying dangerously. Not to forget, her choice of outfit added to the risk. One misstep and the situation could turn into a tragedy in a matter of seconds. The video opened to the woman acting as if she were the queen of trees. She said, 'Mai pedo ki rani aur itni jaldi khatam nahi hogi meri kahani. Senapati, jake rajya mei ghoshna kardo ki paedo ki sirf ekhi rani, maharani hai. Kuynki koi bhi pedo par apna hak nahi bana skta. Pedo par sirf mera haq mai. Inke suraksha karne ka dwaitta sirf mera hai. Aj chali hun mai shuru karne apni intekaam ki kahan. (I'm the queen of trees, and my story won't end so easily. General, go announce across the kingdom that there is only one queen—one empress—of the trees. Because no one else can claim authority over them. The trees belong to me alone. The responsibility of protecting them lies solely with me. Today, I set out to begin the story of my revenge." The internet had lots to say about the video. One user called the woman a 'Branch manager." 'Agle Bahubali mei tumhe hi cast krenge (You will be cast in the next Bahubali movie)," wrote another. 'Pedo ki rani, neeche giri toh khatam kahani (Queen of trees, if you fall your story will end)" joked one person. A social media user questioned, 'Kaha se aate hai ye log?" An individual pointed out that the woman was trying to send the message 'to protect trees and forest around us". 'All jokes apart, this seems to be a very risky place to sit like shaking the entire tree for the effect. Also, even if this is just an illusion and the tree is very close to the ground, a fall from it can still lead to injuries. Funny video though," commented a concerned person. Saiyaara Star Ahaan Panday Was 'Least Pampered', Slept In A Passageway: 'They'd See Me In My Towel'
Saiyaara actor Ahaan Panday shared stories from his childhood and revealed he once lived in a corridor until he was 14. 'We lived in a joint family. There's limited space. Would you rather live in a joint family full of love than have your own space and live separately?" she said. Ahaan nodded in agreement, adding, 'It was great. I won't have it any other way." While the behind-the-scenes stories from his childhood have been getting attention online, Ahaan's career is already hitting major milestones.
