Four people are in an 'extremely critical condition', while 10 are still stuck inside the plant, V. Satyanarayana, Inspector General of the Hyderabad region, said.
'It appears like a blast in and around the reactor unit, which led to the fire,' Satyanarayana said, adding that 'there is still fire and flames near the reactor area where it appears like the accident started.'
Sigachi Industries did not respond to requests for comment.
Local media, citing news agency PTI, had reported earlier in the day that at least 10 people were killed in the explosion.

South Korean prosecutors request detention for ex-president Yoon
South Korean special prosecutors filed a new request on Sunday to detain former president Yoon Suk-yeol, a day after he appeared before them for questioning over his declaration of martial law last year. Yoon, who is facing a criminal trial on insurrection charges over the martial law declaration in December, was arrested in January after resisting authorities trying to take him into custody, but was released after 52 days on technical grounds. 'Detention request is related to allegations of abuse of power and obstruction of justice,' the special prosecutors investigating the declaration said in a statement. The spokesperson for the special prosecutors declined to elaborate when asked why the detention request was submitted, saying they would explain it in court proceedings to decide on whether it should be granted. Yoon's lawyers said in a statement that the special prosecutors had not provided credible evidence for the charges they were seeking, and his legal team would 'explain in court that the request for an arrest warrant is unreasonable'. Park Jong-joon, former head of the Presidential Security Service (PSS), appears at the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office to be questioned by a special counsel team over former president Yoon's insurrection charges in connection with his martial law declaration on Friday. Why Hong Kong is a fledgling hub for pre-owned Hermes bags and other luxury goods
Hong Kong's market for pre-owned luxury goods such as Hermes and Chanel handbags has attracted a growing number of resellers from countries such as the Philippines and India, according to industry players. Advertisement Second-hand luxury retailers said Hong Kong had become a top choice for sourcing among Indian and Filipino merchandisers, owing to the city's reputation for selling authentic goods, ease of travel and tax-free status. They also pointed out that the city had a vast amount of second-hand luxury goods due to residents' relative wealth. Tim Lo Hiu-fung, owner of Coco Approved, a second-hand and consignment store that has been operating for 11 years, said the number of Filipino buyers had increased notably following the pandemic. 'We had quite a lot of Filipino sellers who literally just came in and took photos and then sent them to the clients or even did live sales,' Lo stated, referring to the practice of selling to customers through live streaming via social media. Advertisement The pre-owned luxury trade was put in the spotlight weeks ago when a male robber stole 14 pre-owned Hermes handbags before police arrested him and recovered most of the items. Hermes is known for its secretive and exclusive allocation system in which specific highly coveted bags such as the Birkin and Kelly models are rarely displayed openly and are only offered to a clientele who have significant purchase histories or fulfilled certain 'pre-spend' requirements.
