Licensed surveyors trained for Bhu Bharati prog
The session was inaugurated by District Collector Vijyendra Boyi, who emphasised the importance of accurate land records for ensuring transparency and resolving land disputes. Speaking at the event, the Collector urged the surveyors to approach their responsibilities with commitment and integrity, as they play a crucial role in transforming land governance in the district.
Kishan Rao, Assistant Director, Survey and Land Records, in a statement, highlighted that the training is a key component of the state's ongoing land reforms under the Bhoo Bharati programme. He informed that the newly licensed surveyors were carefully selected to support the programme's objectives and that their services would be vital for conducting precise surveys, updating land records, and facilitating the digitalisation process.
The training session covered various topics, including the legal framework of the Bhoo Bharati Act, technical aspects of land surveying, use of modern survey equipment, and digital tools for record maintenance. The surveyors were also briefed on field-level challenges and best practices to ensure accuracy in measurements and documentation.
All the Licensed Surveyors were instructed to attend the session promptly at 9:30 pm, and their enthusiastic participation reflected the commitment to contribute to the initiative.

Minister: Govt will amend law to curb unregulated school fee hikes, charges
Mumbai: Govt is planning to amend Maharashtra Education Institutions (Regulation of Fee) Act, 2011, to curb unregulated fee hikes in schools, said state education minister Dada Bhuse in the assembly on Wednesday. He said govt also plans to introduce legislation to crack down on the nexus between private coaching classes and colleges in the state. This was in response to questions about colleges charging fees but coaching classes undertaking the job of teaching. Bhuse also said that it was wrong for schools to insist that uniforms and school material be purchased from a specific shop. "However, the PTA (parent-teacher association) is empowered to push for fee hikes. As a result, 10-12 parents on the PTA can work towards a fee hike decision which will impact 10,000-12,000 children. There should be a rule that 50% of the children should be represented by their parents on the PTA," he said. Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Varun Sardesai said schools had also adopted a strategy of keeping the official fees low but charging for other items. "There is a new racket. The fee is kept low, but the schools charge for infrastructure, picnics and so on," he alleged. In response, Bhuse said the fee regulation Act would be amended. "We have received many complaints, even though school fees are supposed to be hiked only by 15% every two years. Please send all your suggestions to us," he said. The issue of the nexus between coaching classes and colleges was raised by MLA Hiraman Khoskar. He said this had resulted in a situation where the fees for courses had shot up from Rs 15,000-20,000 to Rs 2.5 lakh. "The nexus between colleges and coaching classes has been seen in Nashik. Colleges are misusing the benefits they have been given by the state," he alleged.

Youth Cong march to Jayachandran's house pure hooliganism: Greens
Kochi: Several environmental activists in state came out in support of M N Jayachandran, Idukki district secretary of Society for Protection of Cruelty Against Animals (SPCA), who faced attacks and protests from Youth Congress workers for filing a case against large-scale tree cutting and illegal constructions under the guise of NH construction activity. The activists said that approaching the judiciary was a right of every citizen. "Jayachandran approached the high court not out of anyone's instigation or for personal gain. Govt clarified in a court affidavit that the construction site is a reserved forest. The HC intervened because the construction was proceeding without the necessary final approvals under the Forest (Conservation) Act, 1980. The court has asked the chief secretary to investigate and report on the unauthorized construction activities," they said in a statement. "The march by Youth Congress activists to Jayachandran's house, locking his wife and elderly mother inside, is not only illegal but, to put it mildly, pure hooliganism. Environmental protection is a constitutional civic duty. Questioning projects that violate environmental laws is not anti-people but a citizen's responsibility and a service to the nation and its people. Defamatory campaigns against someone filing a petition in the public interest to uphold the law are an affront to democracy and the rule of law," the statement said. "No one is against development. However, it requires legal approvals, environmental impact assessments, expert evaluations at various levels, public dialogue and completion of legal procedures. If responsible parties fail to do so, protecting the environment through the court and questioning illegal activities is a noble example of democracy," the activists said. "We believe that defamatory campaigns and personal attacks against Jayachandran following high court's verdict will be dismissed by the public. Those spreading rumours that Jayachandran is a proxy for forest department are either proxies themselves or their masters," they said. Information panel orders filing of plaint against RTI petitioner
The Tamil Nadu Information Commission has directed the Kanniyakumari district administration to file a complaint against a petitioner, who used abusive language targetting the Public Information Officer (PIOs). State Information Commissioner R. Priyakumar expressed concern over the behaviour of S. Sudalaimuthupillai of Kanniyakumari, the petitioner who sought an information under the Right to Information Act, 2005. Instead of making good use of the noble Act, some petitioners were misusing the rights and privileges by using harsh and abusive language, which often caused mental agony to the public authorities, restraining them from discharging their duties, he said. Condemning the objectionable words used by the petitioner against the PIO and his family members, Mr. Priyakumar asked the PA (General) to Collector to lodge a complaint with the police and submit the action taken report to the commission within a month.
