A critically acclaimed drama starring two Hollywood legends has finally landed on Netflix this month following rave reviews. The hit show made its debut in 2022 and has bagged itself an impressive 94% Rotten Tomatoes score thanks to its stellar cast and script. 1923 stars Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford lead the series, which is a prequel to smash-hit drama Yellowstone. Helen, 79, plays Cara Dutton, the matriarch of the Dutton family, with Harrison, 82, playing her husband and Patriarch of the clan. While it originally streamed on Paramount+, 1923 has now landed on Netflix, with the first series available to binge-watch. A teaser says the show 'explores the early twentieth century when pandemics, historic drought, the end of Prohibition and the Great Depression all plague the Mountain West, and introduces a new generation of Duttons who call it home'. It also stars Brandon Sklenar, Jerome Flynn and Julia Schlaepfer. Drama fans have heaped praise on the show as they flooded prestigious review site Rotten Tomatoes with their opinions. One critic penned: '1923 holds the promise of yet another addictively compelling project from Sheridan.' Another said: 'Ford and Mirren have a comfortable chemistry as husband and wife, and Mirren's character is an attractive blend of tough-as-old-boots, gun-toting cattle rancher and sympathetic matriarch.' 'I don't understand exactly why I'm so enthralled by the promise of more misery, except that Sheridan builds interesting universes with well-drawn characters from different times confronting challenges that are novel and interesting to me,' said a third critic. While a fourth remarked: 'While 1923 is currently a slower journey than Yellowstone, it is still a great look at how we have interacted with westerns in the past and (especially) how they function in history, making it a great addition to the Yellowstone universe.' While there's currently 16 episodes of 1923 across two series, only the first instalment is available stream on Netflix. Meanwhile, a hugely addictive thriller has finally been made free to stream after its shock axe from Netflix that left fans seething. Critics have been largely positive of the prequel The streaming giant removed the hit show, which has a respectable 88% Rotten Tomatoes score, last year. However, How To Get Away With Murder has now been made available to stream once again - and even for free. The smash-hit legal drama originally aired between 2014 and 2020, running for six seasons before its cancellation. Viola Davis plays the lead role of defence attorney and professor Annalise Keating as the series follows her life. As the drama unfolds, Annalise becomes caught up in a murder plot that involves five of her students. How To Get Away With Murder has now officially landed on Channel 4's streaming site, which doesn't require a subscription.
