Made for Rs 4 crore, this film was rejected by Sridevi, became a hit, earned Rs... made Madhuri Dixit a star, won 5 awards, movie is...
Bollywood's two icons, late actress Sridevi and Madhuri Dixit, need no introduction. The two have made a name for themselves in the industry. However, do you know there was a time when Sridevi rejected a film and it fell into the umbrella of Madhuri Dixit, making her a star? Yes, that's right! While Sridevi has worked in several hit films, there was a time in 1992 when Indra Kumar was coming up with a film for which the first preference for the lead actress was Sridevi. However, she turned down the role.
The movie we are talking about is Beta. Released in 1992, Beta featured Anil Kapoor as the lead actor, whereas Aruna Irani played a negative character in the film. Let us tell you that Boney Kapoor initially wanted Sridevi to play the lead in the film, but the actress refused. After this, Indra Kumar took the Tamil rights of the film and then signed Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit.
According to reports, Waheeda Rehman, Sharmila Tagore, and Mala Sinha were offered the role of Laxmi, which was later played by Aruna Irani, as everyone else refused to play the negative role.
Later, the director asked Aruna for the role, and she agreed. This marked a U-turn in Aruna's career and brought her all the name and fame.
Talking about the film, Beta won 5 Filmfare Awards including Anil Kapoor for Best Actor, Madhuri Dixit for Best Actress, and Aruna for Best Supporting Actor. Apart from this, Anuradha Paudwal won the Best Female Playback Singer Award and Saroj Khan won the Best Choreography Award.
Beta became a huge hit and earned Rs 20 crore. Indra Kumar had said in an interview that the story of his film is being copied a lot in TV shows. He had said, even today, the story of the TV serial Wale Beta is being copied. All the serials are based on that. I feel happy that at least the serial makers have benefited.

Antony Varghese recounts scary flight experience after wrapping 'I'm Game' second schedule
Antony Varghese recently recollected a harrowing flight experience after concluding the second production schedule of his upcoming film, I'm Game, in Hyderabad. The actor's journey back to Kochi turned into an unexpected ordeal. "Still in awe of what happened yesterday," Antony wrote on Instagram. "After wrapping up the shoot for I'm Game, I boarded Indigo 6E 6707 from Hyderabad to Kochi. What seemed like a routine flight turned into something straight out of a movie." When the Indigo flight approached Kochi, the weather took a dramatic turn. Antony detailed the suspenseful moments: "As we approached Kochi, the weather turned wild. The first landing attempt was aborted just a few feet above the runway. The second try was even more intense, we were right there, almost touching down, when the pilot made a split-second decision to pull up and not land. Without even brushing the runway, she lifted the aircraft back into the skies. Goosebumps." Antony lauded the professionalism of the crew during the crisis. Antony described the collective relief in the cabin: "After refueling, we took off again and finally landed safely in Kochi. As soon as the wheels touched down, the cabin erupted into applause."
