The new Motorola Edge 60 has make me think twice about buying a Pixel 9a
The duo follow on from the ultra-affordable Edge 60 Fusion launched in early April, adding extra power and more capable cameras while sticking with the same colourful, contrarian styling. That means a quad-curved 6.7in screen, rather than flat glass and flat sides, plus a selection of Pantone-approved hues.
For the Edge 60 that means Gibraltar Sea blue and Shamrock green, with a canvas- or leather-inspired textured rear material. The Edge 60 Pro goes one better with Shadow grey, Dazzling Blue and Sparkling Grape purple, with leather or nylon-effect finishes. Both phones are ultra-durable, too: they've got IP68 and IP69 dust and water resistance, are MIL-STD-810H rated against shocks and drops, and get Corning Gorilla Glass 7i up front to stave off scrapes and scratches.
You're getting OLED across the board, with a 1220p resolution, 120Hz dynamic refresh rate, HDR10+ support and a retina-searingly bright 4500 nit peak brightness.
Going purely by the spec sheets, it looks like the Edge 60 could be the sweet spot. It's packing the same Sony-supplied lead camera as the Fusion, with an f/1.8 aperture and optical image stabilisation, but pairs it with a 50MP ultrawide and a 10MP telephoto good for 3x optical zoom. There's also a 50MP selfie cam up front.
The rest of the specs look familiar, including the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chipset, 8 or 12GB of RAM, 256 or 512GB of on-board storage, and 5200mAh battery good for 68W wired charging. That's a lot of phone for £380, and only slightly more than you'd spend on the £299 Edge 60 Fusion.
The Edge 60 Pro steps things up with a much more potent Dimensity 8350 Extreme CPU, and a considerably larger 6000mAh battery – which can manage 90W wired refuelling and 15W wireless top-ups. It'll set you back £600, which puts it in the firing line of Google's regular Pixel 9.
It helps that the Edge series keeps Motorola's stripped-back take on Android 15, with an out-the-box software suite that should be largely free from bloat. The biggest new addition is Moto AI, a new take on the virtual assistant that uses Google Gemini to recall reminders and catch you up on missed notifications. A Journal keeps track of notes, screenshots and photos, so you don't have to go hunting for them later.
As ever, Motorola US continues to do its own thing with its mobile line-up, so you won't be able to buy either model there. For UK shoppers, the two new phones are going to be available directly from the Motorola web store, as well as all the usual retailers.

The Google Pixel 10 leak looks exactly the same at the Pixel 9, and I think that's great
The Google Pixel 10 is one of the most anticipated upcoming phones, and it looks just like the Pixel 9, and honestly? I'm thrilled. If you missed it, Google has officially shown off a glimpse of the new phone in a short video on the Google Store, and from what we can tell, it looks almost identical to last year's Pixel 9 Pro. It's the same shape, same camera bar, same triple-lens setup. The Pixel 9 Pro is one of the best phones I've ever reviewed. I loved the design – the flat screen, the smooth edges, the way it sat in my hand. It didn't try too hard to look flashy, but still stood out thanks to that horizontal camera bar. It's simple, clean, and instantly recognisable (if you know your smartphones). If the Pixel 10 keeps all that the same, I'm all for it. Some people might call it lazy. But to me, it's smart. Not every phone needs a redesign every year – I find all of that a bit exhausting. The video doesn't say whether we're looking at the regular Pixel 10 or the Pro model, but the camera setup – three lenses, LED flash, and what might still be the temperature sensor – suggests it's the top-end one. It's basically a Pixel 9 Pro, just with a new name and a few tweaks we haven't seen yet. Google has a habit of releasing official photos before a launch to get ahead of the usual blurry leaks, and that's clearly the case here. It's been done before with the Pixel 4, 8, and 9 – and now again with the 10 via the Google Play Store. A clever move, really. Better to control the first impression than let someone else do it with grainy images in bad lighting. A separate leak (found by Android Authority) reveals which models we can expect: Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, a Pro XL, and even a Pixel 10 Pro Fold Colour-wise, we're expecting the options: Obsidian (black), Porcelain (white), Moonstone (a blue-grey), and Jade (a pistachio green with gold details), while the non-Pro models could get a brighter Blue and 'Lemonchello' options. Jade is by far my favourite. I'd love to see more fun colours like that, especially when so many phones play it safe with black or silver. There's a lot more to come at Google's launch event on August 20, and, even if the base design hasn't changed, I don't mind at all, because sometimes the best update is knowing your favourite thing isn't going anywhere… Liked this? We know when the Pixel 10 is launching – and it's sooner than you think
Looking forward to Google's flagship upcoming phone for 2025? While the current Pixel 9, 9 Pro, and 9 Pro Fold are great handsets, there's a lot to look forward to with the Pixel 10. Rumours suggest a big update to the chipset, some huge camera upgrades, and potentially all-new sensors. Plus, we expect to get all this for the same price as the Pixel 9 series. And now we finally know when to expect the devices. Google will be holding its next Made by Google event on 20 August. The event will be held in-person in New York City for invited media. For everyone at home, the launch will be livestreamed on Google's YouTube channel. Things will kick off at 6pm BST/1pm EST/10am PST, and if last year's event is anything to go by, it'll last for around 90 minutes. We also are due to see the Pixel Watch 4 launch, and potentially a more affordable set of Pixel Buds (Buds 2a is my guess on the name). This year's Pixel 10 series will actually be quite exciting on the inside. Google is due to switch to its own manufacturing for the Tensor G5 processor with chip-giant TSMC. It'll be built using the 3nm process, which means things will be faster and more efficient than ever. Beyond that, the camera is set to see some noticeable improvements. The biggest will allegedly be a new telemacro functionality, which means the phone could use its telephoto lens to shoot crisp close-up photos. Aside from the new hardware, we also expect a slew of new AI-powered software features. Google's also surely going to talk to us more about Android 16 and its features. The Pixel Watch 4 isn't due for any big upgrades – this might be a minor spec bump. But if the cheaper Pixel Buds arrive, it'll be good news for everyone. If these Google Pixel 10 leaked prices are correct, I'll be impressed when it launches

It looks like you might be able to get the Pixel 10 series for the same price as the Pixel 9 line-up – and I'll be mightily impressed if this turns out to be the case. But in a year where Apple's likely sharpening its price hike sword, Google's restraint is… well, impressive. This latest report comes from WinFuture's Roland Quandt, and details alleged prices for all Pixel 10 models. According to Quandt, the Pixel 10 will retail for €899 (likely $799/£799), starting at 128GB. The Pixel 10 Pro will begin at €1099 (likely $999/£999) for the same storage, while the Pro XL jumps to €1299 (likely $1199/£1199), but now starts at 256GB. And if you're in the market for the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, expect to fork over €1899 (likely $1799/£1749) – again, for 256 GB. Quandt only shared the Euro prices, but I've added in other currencies since it's the exact same pricing playbook as last year's Pixel 9 line-up. Google's also expected to introduce a range of new colours. The base Pixel 10 will get its usual playful line-up with Obsidian, Frost, Indigo and Lemongrass. Meanwhile, the Pro models are expected to lean more minimalist with Obsidian, Porcelain, Moonstone, and Jade. The 1TB models will allegedly stick to Obsidian… for some reason. While I appreciate the lack of a price bump, there's still the reality that €1899 for a foldable is eye-watering. That's especially the case when there are options with better specs for a similar price. Still, the base Pixel 10 model at $799/£799/€899, if it delivers on the upgrades it's rumoured to include, could be a contender for the best smartphone of the year. If you're eyeing the Pixel 10 series, it is expected to debut on 20 August. The phones will likely hit shelves (and doormats) a week later. If these prices are correct, I'll be impressed with the big G.
