Vitality named official wellness partner of HYROX South Africa

Discovery Vitality is proud to announce its official partnership with HYROX South Africa, the world's fastest-growing fitness racing series. This exciting collaboration introduces a dynamic new way for Vitality members to stay active, push their limits, and earn Vitality points through participation in HYROX events and training.
As part of this partnership, Vitality members can now earn up to 600 Vitality points for completing a HYROX race. Additionally, members can use their two free workouts with Vitality Fitness to train at 24 HYROX affiliated facilities on the fitness platform and can get 100 points per session.
What is HYROX?
HYROX is a unique indoor fitness race that combines running with functional workouts in a standardised format. Each event features eight 1km runs, each followed by a functional fitness station—ranging from sled pushes and rowing to burpee broad jumps—making it both a test of endurance and strength.
'HYROX offers a unique combination of challenge, accessibility, and fun, and that's what makes it such a powerful fit for Vitality,' says Celeste Williams, head of marketing at Discovery Vitality. 'We believe in creating more opportunities for people to move more and live healthier. HYROX adds a new layer of motivation to that mission, helping our members train with consistency, push their limits, and get rewarded for every effort.'
'Partnering with Discovery Vitality is a major milestone for HYROX South Africa. We share a deep commitment to promoting healthy, active lifestyles and building inclusive fitness communities. This collaboration brings strong alignment between our brands and real value for both the HYROX and Discovery Vitality communities. Together, we're set to grow the sport with more events, bigger race days, and a world-class participant experience,' says Mlondi Mashinini, Managing Director, HYROX South Africa.
With standardised race conditions and a global leaderboard, HYROX is both competitive and inclusive—welcoming everyone from first-timers to elite athletes. In 2024 alone, over 300,000 participants competed in more than 65 races worldwide, and the momentum continues to grow.
HYROX Cape Town: the countdown begins
The next big event on the calendar is HYROX Cape Town, taking place on 19–20 July 2025 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre. Both athlete and spectator tickets are available for purchase. An estimated 6,200 participants and the same number of spectators are expected at HYROX Cape Town.
To help members prepare, the Vitality Fitness platform offers:

Two free HYROX training sessions per month at participating fitness facilities

An additional eight free sessions for Discovery Bank clients (limited-time offer)
Looking ahead, a pre-access offer to Discovery Bank clients to purchase HYROX tickets will be announced.

Bok captain Kolisi not concerned about inexperienced front row to take on Georgia

'Over and above that, a scrum is not only about the front row, it involves everyone in the pack doing their bit and everyone in the team knows what they have to do.' Apart from Venter, Fouche and Van der Merwe, focus will also be on Kolisi as he will be back in action for the first time this season and can't wait to run out in front of an expected packed house. 'It's always fantastic to play here,' said Kolisi who has special memories of Mbombela Stadium which is where he made his Test debut in June 2013 against Scotland. 'The vibe at the stadium is amazing and we know that it will be similar to last week in Gqeberha, where the crowd really got involved and inspired us. We are very grateful to the people coming to the stadium. They definitely lift us, so we are grateful for their support.' Having spent the past few weeks on the sidelines due to injury, Kolisi said it has been frustrating.

Muthusamy says Proteas have to be flexible to thrive in T20 format

His batting record in the T20 format is reasonable — a strike rate of 112.47 and five half-centuries. He's better known for his bowling, with consistent contributions across formats earning him eight international caps, including five Tests. Muthusamy has been a keen listener throughout his career, starting with long chats with Keshav Maharaj when the duo were together at KwaZulu-Natal. At the Pretoria Capitals he tapped into the expertise of England World Cup winner Adil Rashid, when the leg-spinner spent a season in the SA20. 'To pick his brain, what his thought processes are, and the way he dissects what he is trying to do in different conditions was very interesting,' said Muthusamy. With the T20 World Cup being hosted in India and Sri Lanka next February, the composition of the spinning line-up will form an intriguing subplot in South Africa's build-up. Nqaba Peter, George Linde and Muthusamy are getting a first crack at impressing Conrad in what will be a busy six months leading up to that tournament with T20 series' in Australia, England, Pakistan and India on the calendar. However after the loss against New Zealand, Muthusamy said that the Proteas' focus is very much on the short-term. 'We don't look too far ahead, the most important game is Sunday's against Zimbabwe.'

Gabriela Bryan and Connor O'Leary win Corona Cero Open J-Bay

'I don't have any words,' said O'Leary. 'I'm just so happy with how I performed today. "[Richard] 'Dog' Marsh has been telling me that it's coming this year, but it's been hard to believe sometimes. All the stars aligned for this one, so I'm stoked. It felt good to have so many people cheering for me, and then to perform for them. 'I intended to do some of the best backhand surfing you've ever seen, and to compete with a fellow goofy in the Final, hopefully it inspires other goofy-foot surfers that they can compete against the best in perfect right-hand point breaks.' O'Leary took the win over Yago Dora (BRA) in an all-goofy-foot battle at Supertubes. O'Leary's flawless backhand attack saw him earn the event's only 10-point ride (out of a possible 10) to knock out three-time J-Bay winner Filipe Toledo (BRA) in an exhilarating semifinal to advance to his first final for 2025. O'Leary had a huge challenge ahead, with Dora seemingly unstoppable in J-Bay and his third final for the season. Locking into a classic leg burner, O'Leary scored an excellent 8.17 and 7.50 for a total of 15.67 (out of a possible 20) for the win. World No 2 Bryan earned her third CT win of the season and the fourth of her career in dramatic fashion, defeating world No 1 Molly Picklum (AUS) by the narrowest of margins. After an early exit at the VIVO Rio Pro, Bryan lost the Yellow Leader Jersey to Picklum and flew out to SA to reset and get in a few extra reps at Supertubes. 'I don't think it's sunk in yet,' said Bryan. 'I came here early, putting in a lot of time here, and it paid off. I'm so stoked. It's been a dream of mine to win here at J-Bay. It's an iconic wave and one of my favourites in the world. 'The Yellow Jersey comes with a lot of pressure, so I definitely had less pressure in that Final. I personally like chasing something that I want to go after. The only time I want to be wearing Yellow is the first event next year.' Bryan clinched her place in the WSL Final 5 and will compete for the World Title in the Lexus WSL Finals Fiji. — World Surf League
