The NFL began its fifth week of announcing players in the "NFL Top 100" in 2025 on Monday. This week is for revealing players Nos. 51-60. Player No. 59, revealed Monday morning, is an NFC West rival the Cardinals will face twice this season.
Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford comes in this year at No. 59 after being No. 42 a year ago.
Multiple players spoke to his arm talent. Buffalo Bills cornerback Taron Johnson said Stafford can do things other quarterbacks can't with ball placement and "can dice a defense."
Rams running back Kyren Williams said, "I'm excited that he said that he's willing to come back and play again because I really feel like we can go on a run."
Stafford has played well against the Cardinals. In his last 10 games against them, he is 7-2-1, dating back to 2017.
The Cardinals will face him and the Rams in Week 14 at State Farm Stadium and then close out the regular season in Week 18 at SoFi Stadium.
'NFL Top 100' opponents for Cardinals in 2025
Of the revealed players in the top 100, the Cardinals will face 16 of them in 2025.

Justin Fields shines in his best practice of training camp
If football fans have learned anything from the past few NFL seasons, it's that no quarterback is truly beyond redemption. Career journeyman Geno Smith joined the Seattle Seahawks in 2022 and won a Pro Bowl award. Baker Mayfield bounced from Cleveland to Carolina, L.A., and then Tampa Bay before winning back-to-back Pro Bowls in 2023 and 2024. Finally, Sam Darnold signed with the Vikings in 2024 and, you guessed it, ended the year as a Pro Bowler. New York Jets fans are hoping that quarterback Justin Fields can undergo the same kind of career renaissance in 2025, and they may have just gotten a glimpse of that in training camp. Through the first week and a half since Jets players first reported for training camp (and finally got to see their epic new locker room), it was the typical rollercoaster ride from Fields. He started off with streaky play in practice before a toe injury sidelined him for two days. But even after his return, it was still a lot of ups and downs for Fields with no sign of improvement. That changed on Friday when Fields dialed up his best performance to date in a Jets uniform, according to Jets insider Rich Cimini. This includes completing his first 12 passes of the day, including a beautiful touchdown to rookie tight end Mason Taylor. It wasn't a perfect day. Fields struggled later on in redzone drills, but it's important to remember that the defense is part of the team too, and New York's defense has incredible talent on that side of the ball, most notably cornerback Ahmad 'Sauce' Gardner. They can make life difficult for quarterbacks in those short yardage situations, especially their own quarterback. Still, Friday's practice was an impressive one for Fields and that's got to be exciting for the fans. Success in 2025 depends in no small measure on Fields. If he can experience the kind of career turnaround that Darnold, Mayfield, or Geno saw in recent years, the Jets could very well be a dark horse contender. If he puts fans through a rollercoaster season as he did in Chicago and Pittsburgh, however, it could be another long year for Gang Green.

Micah Parsons requests trade from Cowboys after contract negotiations fall apart: 'I no longer want to be here'
Micah Parsons wants a trade from the Dallas Cowboys. The star pass rusher released a lengthy statement Friday, detailing his frustrations with the team's approach to negotiating his next contract. Parsons posted his statement on X with the caption, "Thank you Dallas." In the note, Parsons detailed the timeline of his contact negotiations with the team. Early in the note, Parsons wrote, "I no longer want to be here." He then claimed he and his agent reached out to the Cowboys prior to the start of the 2024 NFL season and again after the 2024 NFL season about a new contract, only to be ignored by the team. Parsons then confirmed earlier reports suggesting he met with team owner Jerry Jones in March "to talk about leadership." At that meeting, Parsons claimed Jones started to discuss Parsons' next contract. Parsons engaged in a back-and-forth with Jones over contract details, but did not feel it was "a formal negotiation." At the end of that meeting, Parsons said he told Jones his agent would reach out to further discuss the new deal. When Parsons' agent did get in touch with the team, the Cowboys went silent, according to Parsons. At the end of the note, Parsons said the Cowboys have yet to speak with his agent regarding a new contract. He then confirmed he submitted a trade request to team COO and co-owner Stephen Jones. "Up to today the team has not had a single conversation with my agent about a contract. Not one demand has been made by my agent about money years or anything else. Still I stayed quiet but again after repeated shots at myself and all the narratives I have made a tough decision I no longer want to play for the Dallas Cowboys. My trade request has been submitted to Stephen Jones personally." This story will be updated.
