TTD Announces Temporary Shift of Divya Darshan Token Counters
TTD Executive Officer, Sri J. Shyamala Rao, conducted a virtual review meeting with TTD officials on Tuesday evening to discuss the changes. Traditionally, Divya Darshan tokens for pilgrims undertaking the Srivari Mettu route on foot have been issued at Srivarimettu. However, under the new directive, dedicated counters at the Alipiri Bhudevi Complex will handle token distribution for these devotees. The issuance process will begin on Friday evening, 6th of the month, and will operate on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to availability.
Devotees are required to present their Aadhaar identification to obtain the Divya Darshan tokens, which will then need to be scanned at the 1200th step of Srivari Mettu. Tokens issued on Friday evening will be valid for the following day's darshan. Additionally, the TTD has confirmed that Special Darshan (SSD) tokens will also be available at the Alipiri Bhudevi Complex counters.
In light of the expected influx of devotees, the Executive Officer has instructed TTD Vigilance, Security, and local District Police to coordinate measures to ensure safety and manage traffic effectively. A team of officers will be designated to oversee the smooth token issuance process at the new location, ensuring a hassle-free environment for all devotees.
To facilitate the transition, TTD will actively publicise the temporary shift of the token counters. Engineering officers have been tasked with creating efficient queue lines for the convenience of pilgrims, while department heads have been urged to maintain high standards of food offerings and cleanliness. The services of Srivari Sevakula volunteers will also be leveraged to assist during this period.

Officials told to ensure 100% e-KYC compliance of ration card holders
Minister for Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs K.H. Muniyappa directed officials to ensure that the e-KYC of all ration card holders was completed at the earliest. He was speaking at the Mysuru divisional-level officers' meeting held here on Friday. Urging the officials to expedite the completion of the e-KYC process, the Minister said steps should be taken to make sure that the ration card holders complete the e-KYC norms. Setting a month's deadline for the completion of the exercise, the Minister said that ration card holders should also be warned that their ration supply could be withheld, pending e-KYC completion. Officials were instructed to constitute committees to create public awareness at the district level. On the vacancies in the Legal Metrology Department, Mr. Muniyappa said that steps will be initiated to fill up vacancies in due course. He also directed the officials to ensure the safe preservation of the food grains stored in go-downs and those procured under the Minimum Support Price scheme. Manoz Jain, Secretary, Departments of Food and Civil Supplies, Consumer Affairs, Legal Metrology, Planning, Programme Monitoring, and Statistics, said that vacant posts in the department will be temporarily assigned to other officers while vacant posts of food inspectors will be handled temporarily by revenue inspectors of the Revenue Department. Mr. Jain instructed that Aadhaar cards of people from other States be verified, and that ration supplies be ensured even to hilly areas and remote places in Chamarajanagar district where only 10 to 15 houses exist. On the e-KYC exercise, Mr. Jain said that ration shopkeepers must tell members with incomplete e-KYCs that their food supplies will be withheld, and signatures must be obtained from the members as proof of having been informed. Vasireddi Vijaya Jyothsna, Commissioner, Food and Civil Supplies Department, said that nearly 1.69 lakh people have not completed their e-KYC, and hence mooted the idea of giving a little more time for single-member ration card holders to comply with the e-KYC. Officials and staff from various departments, including M.S.N. Babu, Controller of Legal Metrology, and Jagadish M.K., Commissioner, Food and Civil Supplies Department, were present.

Despite the village, its streets, and its residents remaining unchanged, the name displayed across official boards and documents varies wildly, creating confusion for locals and visitors alike. Dialects And Definitions Government documents refer to the village as 'Para', a term rooted in the local dialect meaning a specific direction or settlement. This version is also emblazoned on the signage of the village's sub-health centre. However, the welcome board at the entrance to the village boldly declares its name as 'Pada', which in the regional language implies the settlement of a particular community or neighbour. To further complicate matters, the local government-run school is registered as 'Paro', specifically Rajkiya Prathmik Vidyalaya Vindaniyon Ki Dhani, Paro. In local usage, 'Paro' typically denotes something that lies 'within' or 'beyond' a particular area. This trifecta of identities, that is, Para, Pada, and Paro, has left even villagers scratching their heads, unsure which name to use in official matters. A fourth variation, also 'Parah', appears on roadside signage, only adding to the chaos. Located approximately 30 kilometres from Barmer district headquarters, the village's residents report inconsistencies across crucial documents such as Aadhaar cards, ration cards, land records, and leases, with names alternating between 'Paro' and 'Para'. This mismatch has hindered access to banking services, school enrolments, and government welfare schemes, with many residents being denied benefits due to name mismatches. A Call For Consistency Locals say they often struggle to convince officials and service providers that the differing names refer to the same place. 'If the school says 'Paro' and the health centre says 'Para', even we don't know which one is right anymore", one resident remarked.
