The victim, Indrakumar Tiwari, had attended a spiritual gathering where he shared his story.
A 45-year-old man from Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur was allegedly murdered by a woman who pretended to fall in love with him, married him in a staged ceremony and then killed him, all for his land.
The victim, Indrakumar Tiwari, a part-time teacher and farmer from Padwar (Khitola), had attended a spiritual gathering where he shared his story that he has no one to look after his 18-acre land. This moment was captured in a viral video where he addressed his concerns to a popular spiritual figure, Aniruddhacharya Maharaj.
Police believe that this viral clip caught the attention of the accused woman who then began plotting the crime.
What Indrakumar Tiwari Had Said
In the video that is now widely shared online, Indrakumar could be seen talking to Aniruddhacharya Maharaj during a satsang. He mentioned that he was struggling in finding a life partner and how he had no one to look after his 18-acre land. The godman, known for his quirky responses, playfully suggested Indrakumar become a 'sadhu" and donate his land for public good.
Soon after the video gained traction, a woman named Sahiba Bano allegedly took notice. According to the police, she created a fake identity using a forged Aadhaar card and reached out to Indrakumar on social media, posing as Khushi Tiwari.
Police say Indrakumar agreed to meet her and travelled to Gorakhpur. There, she allegedly staged a fake marriage ceremony with him. Just hours after the ceremony, with the help of two accomplices, she murdered him and dumped his body in a drain.
'Khushi Tiwari contacted Indrakumar and proposed marriage to him. He agreed to marry her. The woman then laid a trap along with her associates," Kushinagar Superintendent of Police Santosh Kumar said as quoted by NDTV.
Investigators later found that the accused had planned to use the wedding photos to pose as Indrakumar's widow and claim ownership of his land.
Who Is Aniruddhacharya Maharaj?
Aniruddhacharya Maharaj, often called Pookie Baba by social media users, is a well-known spiritual speaker who became popular for his funny and sharp replies during satsangs. His way of adding humour to spiritual talks has made him a viral sensation.

Even though his teachings are based on Sanatan Dharma, it is his light and relatable approach that connects with people. His videos often trend online including one where he jokingly calls biscuits 'vis-ka-kit" (poison kit) which turned into a viral meme.

Man held on charge of job fraud in Kochi

The Puthencruz police have arrested a man accused of cheating people by promising jobs abroad. The arrested was identified as Subhash M. Varghese, 48, of Odakkali. The alleged fraud was carried out between August 2024 and April 2025 through a recruitment agency that he ran at Kolencherry. According to the police, the accused allegedly pulled off the fraud through impersonation by using the Aadhaar card and address of a person from Kozhikode. He also allegedly misused the account number of a job applicant who approached his firm and conducted the transactions through it. Reportedly, he collected money from all the victims by promising to issue their visas by April 2025. He then allegedly shut down his firm and went into hiding. The Puthencruz police managed to track him down despite the misleading address. He used to travel by bus alone to avoid detection. He slipped out of his rented house at Vengola one night after realising that the police had launched a probe. Since then, he had been living with his family at Thiruvilwamala in Palakkad. The police said that he was the key accused in the 2009 Ajaz murder case and had been imprisoned till 2018. A team led by Puthencruz DySP V.T. Shajan and Inspector N. Gireesh made the arrest.
