Murder, rape threats: Karnataka Women's Commission seeks action against Darshan fans for abusing actor-turned-politician Ramya
In a letter to Bengaluru city police commissioner, KSCW chairperson Dr Nagalakshmi Chowdhary said, 'This is affecting the dignity of women. The State Women's Commission has taken the issue seriously.'
The Commission has also demanded that the police ensure that such abusive messages aimed at Ramya are stopped at the earliest. The actor is also expected to file a police complaint later in the day.
Ramya, the former MP of Mandya, came under attack from alleged fans of Thoogudeepa after she hailed the Supreme Court, which pulled the Karnataka High Court last week over the granting of bail to the actor in the Renukaswamy murder case.
Ramya had posted on X Thursday, 'SC is a ray of hope for the common people of India – justice for the family of Renukaswamy.'
Responding to the trolling and abusive messages, Ramya had Sunday posted on Instagram, 'To all the DBoss fans – Welcome to my Instagram. Your comments are proof why Renukaswamy's family needs justice!'
Some fan accounts of Ramya had also shared the abusive messages sent to her on X and Instagram, with some texts suggesting that she should be killed for her comments following the Supreme Court order. Rape threats were also issued against the actor.
Ramya had faced a similar attack after posting a social media message following his arrest last year. Then, she had posted that no one was above the law, and no one should take the law into their hands.
Renukaswamy was allegedly murdered for sending abusive messages to Thoogudeepa's friend and fellow actor Pavithra Gowda. Thoogudeepa was granted bail in December last year, which was challenged in the Supreme Court.

Dayananda won't return as Bengaluru police chief, says home minister Parameshwara
Bengaluru: Home minister G Parameshwara ruled out reinstating B Dayananda as Bengaluru city police commissioner, insisting that although his suspension has been revoked following a cabinet decision, he will not return to his previous post. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now "The govt will assign him a post equivalent to his cadre," Parameshwara said. Dayananda was among five senior police officers who were suspended following the June 4 stampede during RCB's IPL victory celebrations at M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Eleven people died in the incident. While the govt rolled back the suspension of four of them, the suspension of additional commissioner (west) Vikash Kumar Vikash remains in effect. Parameshwara said the decision to revoke the suspension was in line with administrative procedures and not a rollback of accountability. "The departmental inquiry will continue," he said. On the lone officer still under suspension, he said, "Since the officer approached CAT (Central Administrative Tribunal), this opportunity was not available. If CAT directs the govt to revoke the suspension like other officers in the incident, then it will be considered." He added that the revocation does not weaken the govt's stand on the incident. "It is not a setback as it was a govt decision," he said. 'Police will act on Ramya's complaint' Parameshwara said police will act on a complaint filed by actor-politician Ramya against fans of actor Darshan, who allegedly issued threats to her. "Such incidents should not happen in future. Today it is Ramya, tomorrow it could be someone else. Somewhere a full stop must be put to such things," he said. Parameshwara added that the police commissioner would issue directions to officials and that he too would ensure such incidents don't recur. Ramya had met commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh Monday and filed a complaint.
