Wimbledon: Ben Shelton pleaded for extra time off for his sister at Morgan Stanley. It worked
After advancing to face Italy's Lorenzo Sonego on Monday in the fourth round, Shelton spoke in an on-court interview in front of a crowd that included his sister, Emma, and his girlfriend, U.S. national soccer team star Trinity Rodman.
"I've been playing well this week. It's not just been me here. I have a great team. My parents are here. My girlfriend's here. Also, my sister's here. She's been here for every match that I've played this tournament so far. She's been the lucky charm," said the 10th-seeded Shelton, a 22-year-old American who has appeared in two Grand Slam semifinals. "But she has work back in the U.S., starting on Monday. She works for Morgan Stanley."
That drew some boos from spectators as Emma covered her face with her hands.
"If any of you all have some (connections) and get her a couple extra days off so she can (stay and) we can keep this rolling," Shelton continued after his 6-3, 7-6 (4), 6-2 victory over Marton Fucsovics of Hungary on Saturday, "that'd be great."
Sure enough, hours later, Emma posted a short video on Instagram in which Ben is heard asking her, "You got the week off or what?" She jumps up and down with her arms raised and a wide smile, and Ben says, "Shoutout, Morgan Stanley."
The caption reads "thank you MS" with three blue heart emojis and "return flight: cancelled."
Ben Shelton, who won all nine sets he played in Week 1 at the All England Club, beat Sonego in the Australian Open quarterfinals in January.

Jessie J Confirms Positive Update In Cancer Battle, Giving Credit To Her Son: 'Happy Tears Are Real!'
Jessie J is crying tears of joy about her cancer battle. More than a month after the English singer shocked the world with her breast cancer diagnosis, she now has positive news to share with fans. The update comes weeks after Jessie took a break from the spotlight to undergo surgery. In an Instagram post, Jessie confirmed to her followers that her surgery yielded great results. "And…I AM OK. Results = I have NO cancer spread. Happy tears are real!" she penned. The "Flashlight" singer became emotional as she expressed her gratitude to fans for their prayers, love, and positive energy during the tough time. Alongside the message was a sweet clip of her son, Sky, reciting positive affirmations after his mother. "Say Mommy's gonna be okay," the singer called out to her son, who then repeated it in the cutest voice. "This video is from the night before my surgery," Jessie explained about the video in the caption. "We called it baby boy." The doting mother then gushed about her two-year-old carrying her through her health battle, writing: "You are my biggest ray of light, and with you in my life the darkness will never win." Concluding her post, The Voice UK judge confirmed that the coast wasn't, however, completely clear. "Lots of healing to go and one more surgery to make these cousins look more like sisters," she wrote. Nevertheless, the singer is basking in "gratitude time" and changing her name to "The LopJess monster." Jessie's positive update was warmly received by her fan base, who flooded the comment section with encouraging remarks. "Been a fan for 10 years and counting. I love you. Best News Ever!! We are waiting now for your full recovery and the new album as well. Rest well, my queen, first," one heartwarming comment read. Another lovely remark read, "Oh, thank you so very much for sharing the wonderful news--and in the best way possible. We continue to send you so much love and healing wishes." A third fan gushed, "The news everyone wanted to hear at the start of the week! Get in! F-ck cancer!" Other users couldn't help but gush about Jessie's bond with Sky. "You are such a mom, which is saying something because you are [red heart emoji]," this fan added. Since coming clean about her diagnosis, the 37-year-old has been an open book throughout her journey. Such was the case last month when she gave fans a glimpse of how her surgery went. As The Blast reported, Jessie shared photos and clips just 48 hours after going under the knife. Defending her choice to be transparent, the songstress revealed, "[red exclamation point emoji] Blood warning [red exclamation point emoji] This post is some of the honest lows and highs of the last 48 hours. I will always show the good and hard bits of any journey I go through." True to her words, the carousel included emotional clips of Jessie crying before the surgery as well as the blood loss she suffered in the aftermath. Prior to her positive update, Jessie had fans confused when her post-surgery manifestation was mistaken as the result. However, she had to clear the air because it was too soon to tell. Following a post where she declared, "The cancer has all gone," the Critics' Choice Award winner clarified that it was only a manifestation of recovery and not a fact. "I don't have my results yet. I added the [fingers-crossed emoji] in thinking people would understand, and clearly a lot didn't," she explained. "A weird situation. My fault for not being clearer." Jessie noted that the earlier post was simply a discussion of the pros and cons of her health journey. Before making it out in the clear, Jessie warned fans about the state of her health amid recovery from her mastectomy. In an Instagram Stories post, the "Bang Bang" songstress revealed she was "a little uncomfortable" as she had quit painkillers, focusing on exercises and rest as her only rehabilitation. As a result, the 37-year-old advised fans that she may seem "a little out of it" if they run into her in public. "It's not personal. I don't have what l usually have to give energy-wise, understandably. I will get there. It's a slow road. For now, I am taking it easy. Enjoying the slow vibes and staying positive," she added.

Taylor Fritz beats Karen Khachanov for his first semifinal at Wimbledon
LONDON (AP) — Taylor Fritz recovered from a mid-match lull during which he was treated by a trainer for a foot problem and reached the Wimbledon semifinals for the first time with a 6-3, 6-4, 1-6, 7-6 (4) victory over Karen Khachanov on Tuesday. The No. 5-seeded Fritz, an American who was the runner-up at last year's U.S. Open, came in with a 1-4 record in major quarterfinals, 0-2 at Wimbledon. He'll now meet either two-time defending champion Carlos Alcaraz of Spain or unseeded Cam Norrie of Britain for a berth in the final. Fritz powered his way to a big early lead against No. 17 Khachanov, taking 40 of his 47 service points across the initial two sets and never facing a break chance in that span. But then two-time major semifinalist Khachanov grabbed eight of nine games. It was during that stretch that Fritz took a medical timeout, removing his right shoe and sock so the trainer could retape the foot. Khachanov broke to begin the fourth set, in a game in which Fritz's top serve was 117 mph, 18 mph slower than his fastest of the match to that point. He looked up at his guest box and tapped his racket against his thighs, perhaps indicating that he was dealing with some fatigue. From 2-0 down in the fourth, though, Fritz began to regain his strength and touch, and was just two points from victory a total of three times while up 5-4 and 6-5. But Khachanov got things to the tiebreaker, where the score was 4-all, before Fritz claimed the final trio of points. Fritz finished with 16 aces and reached a top speed of 138 mph by the end. Khachanov, never past the quarterfinals at Wimbledon, fell to 0-11 in Grand Slam matches against opponents ranked in the top five.
