Pak PM Sharif calls trade deal with US historic, thanks Trump

Agency: Islamabad, Jul 31 (PTI) Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday thanked US President Donald Trump for the 'historic" trade agreement reached between Islamabad and Washington, and expressed hope that it would expand cooperation between the two nations. Trump on Wednesday announced that the US has sealed a deal with Pakistan to work together on developing the South Asian nation's 'massive oil reserves". Pakistan has long claimed to have large oil deposits along its coast, but no progress has been made to tap those deposits. The country currently imports oil from the Middle East to meet its energy demands. In a social media post, Prime Minister Sharif said, 'I wish to convey my profound thanks to President Trump @realDonaldTrump for his leadership role in finalization of the historic US-Pakistan trade agreement, successfully concluded by our two sides in Washington, last night." 'This landmark deal will enhance our growing cooperation so as to expand the frontiers of our enduring partnership in days to come," he said. According to state-run Radio Pakistan, the breakthrough was reached during a meeting of Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb with US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick and US Trade Representative Ambassador Jamieson Greer in Washington, DC. In a Truth Social post, Trump said, 'We have just concluded a deal with the country of Pakistan, whereby Pakistan and the United States will work together on developing their massive oil reserves." 'We are in the process of choosing the Oil Company that will lead this Partnership. Who knows, maybe they'll be selling Oil to India some day!" he added. According to the report, the trade agreement aims at boosting bilateral trade, expanding market access, attracting investment and fostering cooperation in areas of mutual interest. 'The agreement will result in reduction of reciprocal tariffs especially on Pakistani exports to the United States. This deal marks the beginning of a new era of economic collaboration especially in energy, mines and minerals, IT, cryptocurrency and other sectors," it said. The deal complements Pakistan's existing efforts to broaden the scope of bilateral economic ties, and also enhances its access to the US market and vice versa. Additionally, the deal is expected to spur increased US investment in Pakistan's infrastructure and development projects. The trade agreement underscores the commitment of both nations to deepen their bilateral relationship and explore all avenues for strengthening trade and investment ties, according to the report. Ajith Kumar Adds BMW S1000RR Superbike To Swanky Fleet

BMW's flagship superbike finds a spot in Ajith Kumar's growing collection. South actor Ajith Kumar, known for his love of superbikes and racing, has added a new machine to his garage, the BMW S1000RR. A video filmed in Dubai shows the actor riding the superbike out of a hotel parking area. It is nighttime, and Ajith is suited up in riding gear, making for an impressive visual. Ajith has chosen the Light White Uni / M Motorsport colour scheme, which includes sporty M Carbon wheels and M footrests. Ajith has always had a strong interest in bikes. Earlier, he was seen riding a BMW R1200GS in India on road trips. While the R1200GS is more suited for adventure touring, the S1000RR is built for speed and performance, both on roads and race tracks. Ajith enjoys both styles of riding. What Makes the S1000RR Special? BMW Motorrad launched the updated S1000RR this year at the Bharat Mobility Expo. In India, it reportedly costs Rs 21.10 lakh (ex-showroom). The 2025 model gets sharper design updates, new winglets for better downforce at high speeds, and a sleeker side and tail profile. These changes are visible in the video in which Ajith was seen. The bike is packed with top-end features like five riding modes (Rain, Road, Dynamic, Race, and Race Pro), launch control, traction control, hill start assist, and a 6.5-inch digital display. It runs on a 999cc inline-four engine that produces 206.5 bhp and 113 Nm of torque. The superbike can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds and has a top speed of over 300 km/h. Other advanced features include a quickshifter, anti-hopping clutch, and a new short-stroke throttle. Strong Sales in India Despite being a high-end bike, the S1000RR has reportedly found great success in India. As per Cartoq, BMW Motorrad recently delivered the 1,000th unit in Delhi, marking a major milestone. The bike competes with other litre-class superbikes like the Ducati Panigale V4 and Aprilia RSV4 Factory. Its smooth handling, performance, and relatively competitive pricing make it a favourite among Indian superbike fans. Ajith's latest ride is just another reminder of his deep passion for motorcycles and his love for the thrill of the ride. view comments Location : Delhi, India, India First Published: July 31, 2025, 11:37 IST News auto Ajith Kumar Adds BMW S1000RR Superbike To Swanky Fleet Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. 2027 Hyundai Tucson Spied Testing In Europe, Here's What We Know

Last Updated: Hyundai is set to introduce its latest Pleos infotainment system in this SUV, which will come with the brand-new Gleo AI assistant. The next-generation Hyundai Tucson has been spotted testing in Europe, and the spy shots reveal a fresh new look. The SUV seems to be moving away from its current curvy design to embrace a more angular, rugged appearance, as per Carscoops. The new design features a square-shaped nose, a flat bonnet, and a vertical front fascia. The front fenders continue the boxy trend, giving the SUV a strong road presence. Design Even the door frames are straighter now, with a rising waistline that hints at a sporty stance. While the back is still covered in camouflage, it appears to have a slightly sloping design, likely adding to its dynamic appeal. Performance The 2027 Tucson is expected to be a plug-in hybrid, offering an EV-only range of up to 100 km, ideal for short city drives. Diesel engines seem to be off the table this time, which aligns with Hyundai's focus on a cleaner, greener future. You can also expect advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), including Level 2+ hands-free driving tech, bringing it closer to semi-autonomous driving. When Can We Expect It? While Hyundai hasn't confirmed a launch date, the testing in Europe signals that the official reveal may not be far off. Given its hybrid nature and tech-loaded cabin, the 2027 Tucson could be a game-changer in the midsize SUV segment. view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
