Germany will without their influential captain Giulia Gwinn for the rest of women's Euro 2025 due to a left knee injury, which however is not as serious as initially feared.
The national federation DFB on X said that an MRI scan in Zurich on Saturday revealed that Gwinn "suffered a medial collateral ligament injury to her left knee yesterday in the match against Poland. She is expected to be out for several weeks."

"The next steps will be discussed with all those involved," the DFB added.
It was originally feared that the 26-year-old had ruptured a cruciate ligament for the third time in her career.
Gwinn suffered the injury in Germany's opening 2-0 victory over Poland on Friday in St Gallen, in a crucial tackle against Poland star Ewa Pajor. She returned after treatment but lay down immediately again and was helped off in tears in the 40th minute.
Bayern Munich's Gwinn rupured a cruciate ligament in her right knee in 2020 and in her left knee in 2022, which sidelined her for many months on both occasions.

Gwinn is considered a key player in the German team which is bidding for a record extending ninth title at the Euros in Switzerland. Their other group stage opponents are Denmark and Sweden.
"We all embraced her after the match and wished her luck. The knee is affected. But she also denied a goal. She deserves a lot of credit for that," coach Christian Wück said post-match.
Forward Jule Brand said: "Guilia is a very important player. We now hope that it isn't too serious.". Klara Bühl added: "We are all supporting her."

West Ham reject £50m Mohammed Kudus bid from Tottenham

West Ham United have received an offer from Tottenham Hotspur to sign Mohammed Kudus. The bid was worth £50million and has been turned down but club-to-club talks continue. Kudus is prioritising Spurs if he leaves West Ham and personal terms for the 24-year-old Ghana international are not expected to be an issue. Advertisement The Athletic reported in June that Kudus' contract, which runs until 2028, has a buyout clause that is only active for the first 10 days of July, valued at £80million ($108m) for European clubs, £85m for Premier League sides and £120m for Saudi Arabian teams. The forward has remained on Chelsea's radar, after they stalled on completing a deal to bring him to Stamford Bridge from Ajax in 2023, before West Ham sealed his signature. West Ham signed Kudus for a fee of €41.5million (£35.6m, $48.8m) plus €3m (£2.5m) in add-ons in August 2023, and he immediately became a key part of David Moyes' side, recording 18 goals and 10 assists in 48 appearances during his first season. Utilised in multiple positions across West Ham's frontline, Kudus had a less fruitful 2024-25 campaign, scoring five goals and assisting four in 35 appearances as his side finished 14 in the Premier League. Before joining West Ham, Kudus scored 27 goals in 87 appearances for Ajax, helping the club to consecutive Eredivisie titles in 2021 and 2022. Spurs have been keen to add a forward to their squad during the summer, despite being bolstered by the permanent addition of Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich for €35m, plus €10m in potential bonuses following his loan spell at the club last season. The north London club hoped to persuade Bryan Mbeumo to join new head coach Thomas Frank in joining from Brentford, but the forward has informed Spurs he favours a move to Manchester United. Meanwhile, The Athletic reported Spurs made an enquiry over Bournemouth attacker Antoine Semenyo.

Barcelona star's Serie A links shut down

Barcelona star Marc-André ter Stegen is not in active discussions with Serie A outfit Inter Milan. That's according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, who has on Saturday provided his insight into the situation. Advertisement Links between goalkeeper Ter Stegen and Inter Milan had emerged in the Spanish media over the last 24 hours. This came after chatter was forthcoming that, amid a search for a long-term replacement for the aging Yann Sommer, the San Siro brass had set their sights firmly on Barca's out-of-favour shot-stopper. As alluded to above, though, if the latest word doing the rounds on Saturday evening is anything to go by, then negotiations over any such transfer, as things stand, are not taking place. As per a report from journalist Fabrizio Romano: 'Inter and Barcelona are not in contact for Marc André ter Stegen, same between goalkeeper's camp and Inter. Zero contacts, approaches or talks so far for the German GK to join Inter this summer despite recent reports.' Conor Laird – GSFN
