The little-known trick that can get your luggage to arrive first - and it's FREE
But now a travel expert has revealed a way to get your bag to arrive first - and it doesn't cost a penny.
Hadleigh Diamond, the commercial director at SCS Chauffeurs, explained that a lot of his clients use the same trick to get their luggage without a wait.
'Clients regularly tell us that the difference between a good travel day and a stressful one often starts with baggage reclaim,' said Hadleigh.
'If you're standing waiting for 30 minutes while the carousel clunks out someone else's bags, your trip can feel so much longer. But the fragile sticker trick is a game-changer - and it often works.'
The travel expert explained: 'We've heard this tip from both airport ground staff and frequent flyers.
'You don't need to lie or explain - just politely ask the check-in agent to add a "fragile" sticker to your suitcase.
'It's not guaranteed, but more often than not, your bag is among the first out. We've seen it work time and time again.'
'Clients regularly tell us that the difference between a good travel day and a stressful one often starts with baggage reclaim,' said Hadleigh
Travellers can ask airport staff to put a fragile sticker on their bag when they check-in. As fragile luggage will generally be loaded last, it's likely to be unloaded first.
It might not take hours off the wait at the baggage carousel, but it could save holidaymakers a few minutes.
Of course, the easiest way to minimise time spent at the airport is to travel with just hand luggage.
Holidaymakers may soon avoid the frustration of paying extra fees for carry-on luggage at the boarding gate - thanks to proposed changes in EU airline rules.
The EU Parliament transport committee has approved new regulations that would grant all passengers the right to carry a handbag or small suitcase weighing up to 7kg at no extra cost.
Under the amendment, passengers would be allowed one cabin bag with dimensions measuring up to 100cm, in addition to a smaller personal item that fits under the seat.
This proposal could significantly impact budget airlines such as Ryanair, easyJet, and Wizz Air, which currently charge extra for larger cabin baggage.

How the ABC bungled a $4billion payday - as Aussie show among the biggest in the world makes major move
The ABC has been left red-faced after the UK channel that airs Bluey announced it is set to make even more money off one of Australia's most successful cultural exports. This week, the BBC revealed plans to transform Bluey into a full-fledged lifestyle brand, marking another major commercial leap for the animated juggernaut. Alongside the expansion of its already booming merchandise empire, a Bluey feature film is now in the works, set to be released in 2027 and distributed globally by Disney. In just 2024 alone, Bluey was the driving force behind a bumper $4billion in commercial profits for BBC Studios through global licensing, product deals, and themed experiences. That staggering haul is more than four times the annual budget of the ABC, which is funded by the federal government and Australian taxpayers. The ABC was among the original co-commissioners of Bluey, which first aired in 2018, but failed to secure any significant merchandising deals. Despite being developed and produced in Brisbane by Ludo Studio, most of the benefits of show's commercial success has flowed offshore. Since its debut, Bluey has become a global sensation, celebrated for its heartwarming storytelling, gentle humour, and uniquely Australian character. Bluey-branded merchandise ranges from plush toys and puzzles to camping gear, clothing, and even nappies. In 2024, a large-scale Bluey-themed attraction, Bluey's World, opened in Brisbane, and was recently named one of Time Magazine's 'World's Greatest Places' for 2025. In the same year, Bluey was the number one most viewed show in the United States, recording more than 55billion minutes of viewing time on Disney+. 'From a retail sales standpoint, we are generating about £2.7bn in global retail sales across our entire portfolio and Bluey is a really, really big chunk of that,' Suzy Raia, who heads global consumer products at BBC Studios, told The Guardian. Yet despite its deep Australian roots, the ABC has reaped little financial reward from Bluey's explosive global success. As reported by The Courier-Mail in February, the ABC made no attempt to secure merchandising rights during the show's early development. Then-managing director David Anderson was present at the meeting where Bluey was first pitched to the network. 'We don't make money out of Bluey,' Anderson told the ABC in 2023. 'What Bluey does is provide joy to children and families all over the country and now all over the world. And that would be priceless.' In 2024, ABC Chair Kim Williams addressed the Australian Press Club, warning of declining public funding for the broadcaster and calling for greater government support. Just a few months later in June, the ABC slashed at least 50 jobs in a round of budget cuts, under the new leadership of Managing Director Hugh Marks. Among the casualties was the long-running current affairs program Q&A, once a flagship forum for national political and cultural debate. In an email sent to ABC staff, Marks justified the changes were part of the ABC stepping back from 'areas that no longer align with our priorities'.

Everyone who is eligible for free bus pass in England as Labour confirms major rule change – and those who will miss out
DEMANDS for fairer travel passes for England's over-60s have been growing stronger. And as Labour confirms a major rule change - who will miss out? 1 Those eligible for a free bus pass in England Currently, people in England that live outside London, only qualify for free off-peak bus travel once they reach state pension age which is currently 66. But in Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, residents enjoy this benefit from the age of 60. In response to a parliamentary question from Liberal Democrat MP Dr Al Pinkerton, Transport Minister Simon Lightwood confirmed that English councils can choose to offer additional local concessions, Such as earlier eligibility for free bus passes — but must fund them themselves reports The Star. Lightwood said: 'The English National Concessionary Travel Scheme (ENCTS) costs around £700 million annually. 'Any changes to the statutory obligations… would therefore need to be carefully considered for its impact on the scheme's financial sustainability.' Petition surpasses 101,000 signatures The revelation that councils already have this power has given fresh energy to campaigners. A petition calling for the ENCTS to be expanded nationally to include all over-60s in England — not just those in London — has now surpassed 101,000 signatures. The petition argues the current rules are outdated and unfair. It says: 'As people get older, some over 60s drive less and less. The Selfish Travel Trend Annoying Public Transport Users Everywhere 'We believe we need equality on public transport. "It would mean England had the same provision as Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.' What does this mean for you? If you're 60 or over and live in a London borough, you can get free travel on the bus, Tube, tram, DLR, London Overground and most National Rail services in London with an Oyster photocard. But if you're aged between 60 and 66 in England and don't live in London the answer as to when you'll be eligible for free bus travel, could depend on where you live. While there's no national plan yet to lower the threshold, your local council can introduce an over-60s scheme. It all comes down to public pressure and local campaigning. With confirmed government backing for local flexibility, some councils could act — if residents persist on having their voices heard.

Big Brother host Will Best reveals why it was a mistake proposing to his long-term girlfriend on holiday
He was with his girlfriend over a decade before popping the question – so it's unsurprising that Will Best and his fiancé Tobi Rose are still yet to start planning their wedding over a year on from the proposal. The Big Brother host got down on one knee in Tuscany in July last year. In an exclusive interview with MailOnline Travel, he says: 'It was lovely. It was really nice. 'The only problem is now my fiancé is like, 'oh, let's get married in Tuscany too'. 'But that just sounds expensive.' To stop her badgering him to set a date, Will goes on to confesses he 'told Tobi' about a segment he did on his Hits Radio show, in which many couples who'd been engaged for a long time called in, including one who had been for 32 years. But Will and stylist Tobi have always taken things so slow, he admits. They didn't even go on their first week-long holiday together until 2022, 11 years after they'd started dating. Will explains: 'We'd done a decade without a proper holiday, because we're both freelancers, and every time I booked a holiday, work would come up, or every time something would happen which meant I couldn't do it. 'So we would holiday sporadically and briefly - lots of city breaks, lots of weekends away, which is still great, but your long, fully unplugged holiday, that took us a long time. 'Also, because I travel a lot with work, it kind of always felt like my my travel itch was being scratched all the time, and she travels a lot with work as well, like she goes on shoots abroad for weeks at a time. 'But now, my aim with a holiday is to try and unplug as profoundly as possible.' For Will, the best holiday he and Tobi have been on was to Morocco. He says: 'We stayed in this lovely hotel, which didn't really feel like a hotel – the Jnane Tamsna. 'There's no bar or concierge desk, and if you want a drink, you just WhatsApp this dude and he'll bring you a beer. 'Also, obviously Marrakesh is nothing like London, and I like trying to go to places that feel totally unlike home, so I can get into a destressed environment and mind state as quickly as possible.' While Marrakesh was lovely for Will and Tobi, the same can't be said for their trip to Jamaica. He recalls: 'I'd always wanted to go, and I got loads of amazing recommendations from a friend of mine, who's got Jamaican family and goes out there all the time. 'She gave us all these recommendations, and we were super excited. 'Then we got there, and it rained for the entire week, and me and my partner were both really ill. 'We arrived feeling a bit under the weather, and then spent a week just in our hotel room feeling ill while it rained. It was a long way to go to just stare at the same four walls. 'We watched a lot of Netflix. It was really depressing. We'd force ourselves to get up, we'd go to a restaurant, and then immediately, just be like, 'We can't. We've got to get back to the Netflix.'' This summer, Will, along with his Big Brother co-host AJ Odudu, is planning to go to festivals around the UK – and 'hopefully sneak into an Oasis gig'. And while he does that, he'll be taking full advantage of Holiday Inn Express' Fresh package, while AJ will be getting a Fried box, filled with a Stanley cup, eye gels and hydration tablets. He says: 'The boxes each contain different things based on how you like to either prepare to sleep after a gig or recover, from maybe not enough sleep, the next day. 'When I was looking at the different care packages, I realised that I am very much falling into the Fresh camp, and it's not because I'm old, all right? 'It's because I now do breakfast radio on Hits Radio with Fleur East and James Barr, and I now have to get up stupidly early every single day, even if I have gone to a gig the night before, so my whole life now revolves around my sleep routine, and I need to maintain that even if I'm going out to a gig. 'In the Fresh box, you're getting really good, reusable ear plugs, mouth tape, which helps you get into an REM sleep quickly, lavender aromatherapy and essential oils. 'Then, for breakfast, you've got your fruit, your granolas, your fresh yogurt and I can go straight to the radio and not feel like I'm I'm going to keel over, which is a constant struggle.' Holiday Inn Express' Fresh or Fried campaign is running from 24th July - 24th September 2025, with boxes available at select properties across the UK and Ireland and online at while stocks last.
