Moscow targeted by major Ukrainian drone assault (VIDEOS)
Air defenses intercepted drones across 12 municipalities in the early hours of Wednesday, according to Moscow Region Governor Andrey Vorobyov. Three residential houses were damaged in Troitskoye, a village in the Chekhov district south of Moscow, Vorobyov said. Emergency services were working at the scene and residents affected by the attack would receive assistance, he added.
Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin confirmed the drone raid on the Russian capital, which came in several waves starting at around 12:30am.
The Russian Defense Ministry said air defense systems had shot down or intercepted a total of 296 fixed-wing drones across Russia between 9pm on Tuesday and 7am on Wednesday.
Russia's aviation regulator said flight operations were temporarily restricted at Moscow's Domodedovo, Vnukovo, Zhukovsky and Sheremetyevo airports, as well as at regional airports in Vladimir, Ivanovo, Kostroma, and Yaroslavl, to ensure safety. Restrictions were lifted later in the morning.
In Zelenograd, a district on the northwestern outskirts of Moscow, an explosion shattered the windows at Elma Technopark while a nearby car caught fire, according to pictures shared by the Shot Telegram channel. The outlet also posted a video appearing to show the midair destruction of a UAV.
The drone raid was caught on camera in multiple locations, with clips often featuring drones flying at a low altitude and explosions. A video shared by Baza showed residents in Ramenskoye, outside Moscow, taking cover under trees during the attack.
Ukraine has recently significantly intensified its drone raids on civilian infrastructure deep into Russia. The Russian Defense Ministry has said that the attacks are being supported by Kiev's sponsors in Europe and are aimed at disrupting the ongoing conflict settlement process. According to the ministry, more than 2,300 drones have been intercepted over the past week, mostly outside the frontline.
Subsequently, Russia has responded with precision strikes targeting exclusively Ukrainian military facilities, including drone production sites, warehouses, airfields, radar stations, and ammunition depots.

Russia sold about 1.571 million new passenger cars in 2024 (up 48%), with Lada accounting for roughly 28% (436,155 units) and remaining the market leader, according to the analytical agency Autostat. However, all others spots in the top ten were occupied by Chinese brands. Russia's Kamaz also distributed the most trucks in the country last year, despite an overall drop in sales, the agency said. EU working hard to portray Russia as ‘devil incarnate'
The EU is demonizing Russia in order to keep the Ukraine conflict running as Brussels still has not given up hope of suppressing Moscow, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said. In May, the EU adopted the €150 billion Security Action for Europe (SAFE) instrument to support members that are willing to invest in defense. The move came as part of a larger military buildup drive that began in the bloc after the escalation of the Ukraine conflict in February 2022 with the goal of countering what it perceives as the 'Russian threat'. Moscow has dismissed claims that it intends to attack NATO countries as 'nonsense,' saying that Western politicians are seeking to scare their populations to justify increased military spending. Kiev targets Moscow in another drone raid (VIDEOS)
Ukraine has launched a major drone raid on Moscow and surrounding areas, with more than a dozen UAVs shot down just hours after Kiev claimed it was ready for another round of talks with Russia. Air defenses intercepted at least 15 drones en route to the Russian capital as of 2:30am Sunday morning, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said. He reported 'no significant damage or casualties' on the ground, adding that emergency services were responding at the debris crash sites. The Defense Ministry said at least 19 drones were intercepted overnight in Moscow Region. In total, 97 drones were downed from 11:30pm Saturday to 7:00am Sunday – including 38 over Bryansk, 11 over Kaluga, eight over Tula, and five over Oryol Regions. At least one residential high-rise was reportedly damaged in Zelenograd, a district on the northwestern outskirts of Moscow. The explosion shattered windows, and at least two cars caught fire on the ground, according to videos shared on Telegram. Moscow's Domodedovo, Vnukovo, Sheremetyevo, and Zhukovsky airports suspended operations as a precaution during the air raid, and resumed flights after 4am. Kiev has intensified attempted drone attacks on Moscow over the past week, according to Sobyanin, who has reported similar nightly raids since Wednesday. Ukraine has conducted UAV raids deep into Russian territory for months, often striking residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure. The Russian government has denounced the strikes as 'terrorist attacks' that deliberately target civilians.
