Schwellenbach strikes out 12 and Murphy hits grand slam to lift Braves over Phillies
ATLANTA (AP) — Spencer Schwellenbach struck out a career-high 12 and Sean Murphy hit a grand slam as the Atlanta Braves bounced back from an embarrassing loss to beat the Philadelphia Phillies 6-1 on Saturday night.
Schwellenbach (7-4) gave up one run, three hits and one walk in seven innings. He threw 64 of 90 pitches for strikes.
Murphy was 2 for 4 with a double. The seventh-inning slam was his 10th home run this season.
Austin Riley went 2 for 4 with an RBI and Nick Allen had a run-scoring single for the Braves, who were shut out in their previous two games — including a 13-0 defeat in the series opener Friday night.
Jesús Luzardo (7-4) gave up two runs on seven hits and two walks in five innings for the Phillies. He struck out seven and kept his team in the game by stranding five runners.
Alec Bohm knocked in Philadelphia's run with a single in the sixth that cut Atlanta's lead to 2-1, but Nick Castellanos flied out with two on to end the inning.
The Braves sat slumping Michael Harris II, starting Eli White in center field. Harris had started every game but one this season but is hitting .212. White was 0 for 3 with a run.

Murphy's grand slam broke open a 2-1 game with one out in the seventh. He hit the first pitch he saw from Jordan Romano 455 feet to left field for his second career slam and the first by the Braves this season. It came after consecutive singles by Marcell Ozuna, Riley and Ozzie Albies.

Former star Alabama pitcher released by MLB team
After being designated for assignment by the organization a few days ago, former Alabama Crimson Tide pitcher Spencer Turnbull has been officially released by the Toronto Blue Jays, per the team's MLB transactions' page. Prior to his release, Turnbull had made only three appearances with the Blue Jays so far this season, one of which was a start. Over that sample size, which was 6.1 innings pitched, the right-hander owned a 1-1 record with a 7.11 ERA and a 4:4 K:BB ratio. The former Alabama right-hander also made five starts in the minor leagues this season with Toronto's organization where he owned a 7.13 ERA across 17.2 innings pitched. Following his release by Toronto, Turnbull will now reenter free agency where the veteran right-hander will look for a new team. BRISTOL, Conn. (AP) — Oklahoma City's 103-91 victory over Indiana in Game 7 was the most-watched NBA Finals game in six years. Sunday night's game averaged 16.53 million on ABC and ESPN+ according to preliminary ratings data from Nielsen. The audience peaked at 19.28 million during the second half (9:45-10 p.m. EDT). Advertisement It is the first time since Toronto wrapped up its title in Game 6 against Golden State in 2019 (18.34 million) that the finals have had an audience over 16 million. The last Game 7, when Cleveland beat Golden State in 2016, averaged 31.02 million. The seven-game series averaged 10.27 million, down from the 11.31 million average for Boston's victory over Dallas in five games last year. The seven games were the most-watched television broadcasts since the first week of May.
