Minister Ganesh Kumar spots minors riding scooter, orders strict action
The incident occurred as Ganesh Kumar was heading to the stage to inaugurate the annual Kudumbashree celebration in Pathanapuram.
Upon noticing the underage riders, he stopped and questioned them, before directing the officials to identify the vehicle owner and take strict action.
'Call the inspector and tell him we need to find out who the owner is. Then inform the RTO and cancel the owner's licence. They are giving the motorbike to underage kids, kids not even 18. If they fall and die, we'll have to take responsibility. They have no helmet and licence. When the owner shows up, we must hand over the vehicle to the RTO. That's the law,' the minister said.
Ganesh Kumar reiterated that vehicle owners must be held accountable for allowing minors to operate two-wheelers.

HYDERABAD: A 61-year-old offender has been arrested for creating forged documents of various govt departments through his son and supplying them to people for money. Police seized forged documents and rubber stamps from his possession. The accused, Ladve Badrinath, was arrested during a raid on his Shantinagar residence in Adilabad late on Friday, while his son and alleged mastermind, Ladve Rahul Kumar, 34, remains on the run. According to Adilabad superintendent of police (SP) Akhil Mahajan, "The duo was preparing a wide range of fake documents ranging from birth certificates to RTO vehicle-release orders." Police seized fake stamps of various govt departments, computers, hard disks, and fake documents from accused. A suo motu case was registered at the Adilabad I Town police station on Friday. RTO to begin crackdown on bike taxis in Mumbai, MMR
Mumbai: The Regional Transport Offices (RTO) will now start a crackdown on bike taxis across Mumbai and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) following an internal order issued by the state transport commissioner Vivek Bhimanwar's office on Thursday. The order directed the RTO to catch bike taxis that continue to operate even though the service is yet to be legalised in the state. Officials at the state transport commissioner's office said that Rapido, Ola and Uber are ferrying passengers without obtaining mandatory permits. The order asks citizens not to use the bike taxis and urges them to prioritise their safety. 'We have asked the RTOs to take strict action against the unauthorised operations of bike taxis,' said a transport department officer. The internal order read, 'As per section 93 of the Motor Vehicles Act and the Motor Vehicle Aggregator Guidelines, it is mandatory for such companies to obtain proper permits. This comes a day after transport minister Pratap Sarnaik, under an alias, booked a Rapido bike taxi from the Mantralaya to Dadar and found the service operating without permission. Last month, police cases were registered against Uber and Rapido for operating illegal bike taxi services. The state government is in the process of drafting rules and regulations regarding bike taxi operations in the state, and is open to suggestions and objections from the public.
