Tributes pour in for radio legend, Darren Scott

Tributes have been pouring in on social media following the death of South African veteran radio host, Darren Scott.
Scott had been diagnosed with stage 4 malignant melanoma.
During his career, Scott worked as well-known radio stations including East Coast Radio, 5FM, Radio Bop and also presented his 'Just Plain Breakfast' show on Jacaranda. His last radio spot was at Hot 102.7FM.

In a touching post on social media, the station said; "It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of a Hot 1027 radio legend. Earlier today Darren Scott lost his battle to cancer .
"He fought the battle for many years.The last few months have been very difficult for Darren with numerous hospital stays.
"Darren will be remembered for his passion for radio, wit, creativity and charitable work. He will be missed by all of us at Hot 1027 and listeners across the country. Our condolences go out to Darren's boys Mark and Matthew and the rest of the family. Rest in peace Darren. We will miss you."

The Hangout: Bowling for soup
I have always loved beautiful stories that both inspire and uplift, and that is exactly what we get when we dare to dream big, persevere through challenges, and look back at the journey of legendary South African icon Ina Paarman. I am all about celebrating our heritage and paying tribute to the local legends who have shaped our foody culture. After all, we know local is lekker, and today I am shining a light on a woman who had the courage to stand tall and now exports her renowned range of spices, seasonings, sauces, and more to thirty-two countries across the globe. What an unbelievable accomplishment. In 1982, Ina took a bold leap of faith. She left behind the security of her lecturing job to open a cookery school in her family's converted garage. At the time, the concept was unfamiliar and initially slow to gain traction. Most people were not accustomed to paying for cooking lessons, and Ina had no advertising budget to spread the word. Undeterred, she sent her teenage sons out on bicycles to deliver homemade flyers throughout the neighbourhood. What started as a humble home business gradually blossomed, and seven years later, her school had become hugely popular. This success was fuelled by Ina's infectious passion for both cooking and teaching, qualities that turned every lesson into an experience. (Kinda makes me think she's our very own Julia Child in a way but she's also giving Elizabeth Zott in the Lessons in Chemistry series.) I am genuinely grateful that this queen of cooking stayed the course. She has made my life not only more delicious but also so much easier.
