Harry Potter Actor Alastair Stout's Age Explained

Yahoo30-05-2025
With the casting process for the upcoming Harry Potter reboot series entering its final stages, HBO has now announced the trio who will occupy the leading roles of Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger. With Alastair Stout joining the cast as Ron alongside Dominic McLaughlin as Harry and Arabella Stanton as Hermione, fans have become curious about the child actor and his age.
Here's everything you need to know about Stout and what's currently known about his age.
While the exact age of Alastair Stout remains unknown, he is believed to have been born between 2014 and 2016. As such, the British youngster could be anywhere between 9 to 11 years old at the time of writing, as this was the age range given in the casting call put out by producers.
This would make Alastair Stout a similar age to the 11-year-old Arabella Stanton, as well as Dominic McLaughlin, whose age also falls in the 9 to 11-year-old bracket. Unlike his co-stars, however, Stout hasn't had much experience performing in front of the camera. McLaughlin has already secured roles in the upcoming Sky comedy Grow, as well as the BBC action adventure series Gifted, while Stanton has featured in renowned plays such as Matilda the Musical and Starlight Express.
In sharp contrast, Alastair Stout, whose real age remains under wraps at the moment, has reportedly only starred in a single advertisement for Albert Bartlett potatoes so far. The newcomer portrays 'Son at dinner' in the commercial, which is titled 'Roll on Jersey Royal Season,' as per The Scotsman.
While Harry Potter fans might take some time to adjust to the aforementioned child actors taking over the roles of Hogwarts' iconic trio from Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint, showrunner and executive producer Francesca Gardiner believes that they have found the right actors to carry on the Harry Potter legacy. 'The talent of these three unique actors is wonderful to behold, and we cannot wait for the world to witness their magic together onscreen,' Gardiner noted while confirming the cast for Harry, Ron, and Hermione in the much-awaited Harry Potter reboot.

Olivia Munn Says A ‘Newsroom' Director 'Wanted To Ruin My Chances Of Getting' Acting Jobs In Retaliation After Disagreement On HBO Series

Olivia Munn is recalling her time on The Newsroom and a disagreement she had with a male director who retaliated by smearing her work ethic. In a recent interview, Munn opened up about an incident she had on the set of the HBO series. More from Deadline Kyle MacLachlan "Would Love" To Reprise Trey On 'And Just Like That' After Rejecting Writers' "First Idea" 'The Comeback' Revived By HBO For Third & Final Season 'Game Of Thrones' Stunt Accident Video Leak Raises Questions About Safety On HBO Franchise 'There was a storyline where my character and Tom Sadoski's character are dating and falling in love,' Munn said on Dax Shepherd's Armchair Expert podcast. '[The director] kept trying to force me to carry that storyline only on my side. He's like, 'Can you look out at him and smile?' And I'm like, 'Why she's busy doing this?' Or, 'Can you stop and snuggle up to him or flirt with him?' Or, 'Can you give him a kiss?' And I'm like, 'This is in the middle of working.'' The Your Friends & Neighbors said that she later learned that the unnamed director told a movie studio she was challenging to work with. 'I was on the one-yard-line for the movie and my manager calls me and says, 'Hey, you're gonna get the role. But first, I guess there's another director who they know and he says that on The Newsroom you were late all the time and really combative,'' Munn recalled. 'I lived seven minutes from there. I was never late. I was like, 'I know who this is.'' She continued, 'He just was trying to bash me. And I told my reps, 'Please tell the directors this.' And then I still got the role. But I will always remember that just because of our conflicts of how we approached a role, he wanted to ruin my chances of getting anything else.' The Newsroom was an HBO series that premiered in 2012 and ran for three seasons. Munn played the role of Sloan Smith, an economist who presents a segment on Will McAvoy's (Jeff Daniels) news show. BBC 'Regrets' Not Pulling Bob Vylan Glastonbury Set Livestream With 'Antisemitic Sentiments'

The BBC 'regrets' not pulling its livestream of a Glastonbury performance in which rap duo Bob Vylan chanted 'death, death to the IDF.' IDF stands for Israel Defense Forces. The television partner of the U.K.'s biggest music festival released a statement Monday as the fest wound down, hours after U.S. star Olivia Rodrigo wrapped up with her headline set. 'Millions of people tuned in to enjoy Glastonbury this weekend across the BBC's output, but one performance within our livestreams included comments that were deeply offensive.' The corporation continued: 'The BBC respects freedom of expression but stands firmly against incitement to violence. The antisemitic sentiments expressed by Bob Vylan were utterly unacceptable and have no place on our airwaves. We welcome Glastonbury's condemnation of the performance.' The judgment on Saturday to issue a warning on screen while streaming 'was in line' with the BBC's editorial guidelines, it also said, and a decision was made not to make the set available on demand. 'The team were dealing with a live situation, but with hindsight, we should have pulled the stream during the performance. We regret this did not happen.' Concluded the BBC: 'In light of this weekend, we will look at our guidance around live events so we can be sure teams are clear on when it is acceptable to keep output on air.' In a statement posted to Instagram, one half of the rap duo, Bobby Vylan, said: 'Teaching our children to speak up for the change they want and need is the only way that we make this world a better place…. As we grow older and our fire starts to possibly dim under the suffocation of adult life and all its responsibilities, it is incredibly important that we encourage and inspire future generations to pick up the torch that was passed to us.' But Glastonbury organizer Emily Eavis also took to the social media platform to condemn the anti-IDF chants. 'Their chants very much crossed a line and we are urgently reminding everyone involved in the production of the Festival that there is no place at Glastonbury for antisemitism, hate speech, or incitement to violence,' Eavis wrote. Eavis continued: 'As a festival, we stand against all forms of war and terrorism…we will always believe in — and actively campaign for — hope, unity, peace and love', adding a performer's comments 'should never be seen as a tacit endorsement of their opinions and beliefs…. With almost 4,000 performances at Glastonbury 2025, there will inevitably be artists and speakers appearing on our stages whose views we do not share.' U.K. prime minister Keir Starmer was among the critics of Bob Vylan's set. It was a politically charged event this year. It often is as Glastonbury attracts a left-leaning crowd, but more so than ever, the polarizing politics of the current day were felt. Also on Saturday, Irish rap trio Kneecap voiced their pro-Palestine views and used the platform to criticize the U.K. and U.S. governments, as well as the U.S. media.
