ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Imagine it's 30 years from now and you can talk to and have a conversation with a legendary New Mexican who has died on a screen. That's not a far-away dream, instead, with new technology, one New Mexico man is pushing for a New Mexico Sports and Cultural Museum where people can talk to local sports legends, movie stars, and politicians.

Walk through a hallway in the Albuquerque Convention Center and you might just miss the New Mexico Sports Hall of Fame where you can find all the greats like Bobby Unser, Bob King, and, Brian Urlacher. Marty Saiz, with the New Mexico Sports Hall of Fame, believes more should be done to honor them. 'I envision you walk in and multiple faces in all fields of endeavor,' said Saiz.
He's been working on a museum that has morphed into celebrating the achievements of all successful New Mexicans. 'This project now is way more than a sports hall of fame museum, I call it the Inspiration Dream Center…So we want these to be a place of interaction and so our kids can say, you know, how did Brian Urlacher go from Lovington to the NFL? And or, you know anybody else, you know, Holly Holm,' Saiz said.
But it's how people will share their stories that will really make this museum stand out. It would be the first in the nation to use Storyfile which allows people to have a conversation with someone even decades after they are gone. 'You can actually educate yourself and talk to some historian, person who's just not sports, but we've got Gary Johnson here, and we've done Barry Switzer, and we also done Jim Hulsman,' said Steve Davis, Proview Networks.
Saiz has teamed up with Davis, who founded Proview Networks 16 years ago. The company is a New Mexico sports broadcasting company. Davis learned about Storyfile on a 60 Minutes episode during the pandemic… and reached out…Being the first in the nation to bring the technology to the United States. Storyfile lets anyone digitally record their answers to 600 questions. which are then loaded into the program. Artificial intelligence does the rest.
Former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson was one of the first to take part. His AI version can answer almost every question about him.
Saiz and Davis, through the City of Albuquerque, are requesting $700,000 to get plans moving forward for the museum. They say these personal stories could inspire future generations. 'Our kids need to know how they can dream dreaming. And it's possible people have come from New Mexico to be successful,' said Saiz.
Saiz says the goal is to have a mix of private and public funding to build the museum. He says they have been working with the city to find the best location.

Former Wisconsin basketball star Nigel Hayes-Davis officially joins Phoenix Suns

Former Wisconsin basketball star Nigel Hayes-Davis officially joined the Phoenix Suns on Friday. Roughly one month removed from the former Badger reportedly agreeing to a one-year deal with the franchise, Hayes-Davis' journey back to the NBA is now official. For the first time since the 2017-18 regular season, the Ohio native will lace up during an NBA regular season this fall. Hayes-Davis' return to the United States' most coveted professional basketball league follows his hectic spring and summer run as a member of Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul in Turkey. To conclude the 2024-25 EuroLeague campaign, Hayes-Davis helped guide Fenerbahce to an 81-70 victory over Monaco in the final with a 23-point, nine-rebound performance. The output netted him EuroLeague Final Four MVP honors and the club's first title since 2017. After the historic run, Boston Celtics' head coach Joe Mazulla traveled to Istanbul for the Bachesehir - Fenerbahçe game in early June, reigniting Hayes-Davis' reality of playing in the NBA once more. The previous summer, Hayes-Davis earned a Turkish League Championship and MVP honor in Turkey's Basketbol Süper Ligi Finals, where he averaged over 17 points per game to snag finals MVP honors. That pair of runs served as enough evidence for an NBA squad to take a chance on the decorated college and European basketball star. The 6-foot-8 forward suited up in nine games for the Kings, Lakers and Raptors during the 2017-18 slate. He will now return to the hardwood alongside players such as Devin Booker, Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks and Mark Williams. As a Badger from 2013-17, Hayes-Davis was named Big Ten Sixth Man of the Year (2014), a two-time third-team All-Big Ten (2015, 2017) honoree and an All-Big Ten first team selection (2016). He averaged 12.4 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists across 150 appearances. Former UNC basketball star lands contract with Lakers

RJ Davis has found a home in the NBA Former North Carolina Tar Heels' guard R.J. Davis will get another chance to impress in training camp. After going undrafted and then signing with the Los Angeles Lakers, Davis played for the team in the Summer League with the hope of landing a roster spot. On Saturday, the Lakers announced they had signed four players with Davis being among them. The contract details are not out yet but it's very likely an exhibit-10 contract for Davis which allows them to have the guard on their their roster for training camp. They can them convert the player to their G-League roster. Davis was signed along with Eric Dixon, Arthur Kaluma, and Augustas Marčiulionis. Davis played five seasons at North Carolina, winning the ACC Player of the Year award in 2024. He appeared in 175 games and averaged 15.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.0 steals in 32.4 minutes. It will still be a tough road ahead for Davis to crack the roster or earn a two-way contract but at least he's getting the opportunity to. This also gives UNC fans another player to root for to make a roster during training camp. Former Georgia DL Jordan Davis underwent major change ahead of 2025 NFL season

As NFL training camps kick off for the 2025 season, one player drawing significant attention is Philadelphia Eagles defensive lineman Jordan Davis. Fresh off a Super Bowl-winning campaign, the Eagles exercised Davis' fifth-year option, ensuring his tenure with the team extends through the 2026 season. Davis is part of a notable players of former Georgia Bulldogs who have found success with the Eagles, a trend that continues to be a storyline for the Philadelphia franchise. Davis says he has shed 26 pounds this offseason. Davis is now listed weight at 336 pounds, which is aimed at enhancing his performance and allowing him to play more snaps. A slimmer Davis should excel, particularly in pass-rushing situations. "Just putting in the work, putting in the work and being consistent," said Davis when asked about his transformation this offseason. "I'll say living better, more energy, greater focus, conditioning wise on the field. I feellike, you know, it takes me longer to really get tired." With the loss of key defensive linemen, Davis will be asked to do more than just be a run stuffer. During his 2024 season he had 27 total tackles and had a sack in the Super Bowl on Patrick Mahomes. If he can reach another level this season with his All-Pro teammate Jalen Carter, then they can be one of the most dominant duos in the NFL. Davis is one of eight Georgia Bulldogs on the Eagles, who open the 2025 NFL season against the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday, Sept. 4.
