Mile Long Table invites all to a shared meal in Denver this Saturday morning at the Auraria Campus
A table measuring 5,280 feet, seating just as many people, will be set at the Auraria Campus.
Starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, people from all walks of life will eat together at the event designed to promote understanding and to increase everyone's sense of belonging.
It costs just $5.28 for the family style meal, but free meals are available and donations are accepted.
"Lots of ways to play, you can get a general admission ticket, you can sign up as a co-host -- a cohost invites people from your world, or a super host which is a company or organization, invites other people, or you can just show up at Auraria campus -- we'll have a seat for you," said Tim Jones, Founder of Longer Tables and Mile Long Table.
Mile Long Table will also feature music, art and surprises. And there is special meaning in everything on the menu.
"We have ancient grains that will reflect the Indigenous and pinto beans will reflect the Chicano heritage of the Aurarians that lived there. So we're really excited," added Jones. "And grilled chicken, fire smoked chicken. It's gonna be make-your-own meal, family-style at the table."

America's Gilded Age was a period characterized by massive income inequality between a superwealthy plutocracy (think Astors, Morgans and Vanderbilts) and an increasingly restive workforce. Her only assets were her natural wit and aplomb, but in a twist worthy of Edith Wharton, these were enough for her to snare a suitor who, according to his own family history, had been born 'with a silver spoon in his mouth big enough to be called a soup ladle.' As a young man, Stuyvesant Fish had rejected his patrician father's choice of law as a suitable career and went to work for the Illinois Central Railroad. Mamie enraptured this rather dull, Columbia-educated man, and in 1876 they married. They were a devoted couple. 'He thought she was a hoot,' Ms. Wright tells us, 'and she loved that he was a constantly amused audience for her jokes and adventures.' The Fish fortune multiplied. But while 'Stuyvesant seemed to sense that railroads were going to be huge,' Ms. Wright suggests that 'Mamie seemed to understand that extroverted, exciting women who loved the spotlight were the future.'

Lady Gaga leads 2025 MTV Video Music Awards nominations
The nominations for the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards, known as the VMAs, were announced Tuesday, and it's a crowded playing field. Lady Gaga leads this year's nominees with 12, including nominations in the video of the year, artist of the year and best album categories. She is followed by Bruno Mars with 11; Kendrick Lamar with 10; and ROSÉ and Sabrina Carpenter, tied with eight each. It marks the third time the 'Abracadabra' singer and 'House of Gucci' actress has led VMA nominations, having previously done it in 2010 with 13 nods and in 2020 when she tied with nine. This year, Ariana Grande and The Weeknd have seven nominations each; Billie Eilish has six; Charli XCX scored five nods and Bad Bunny, Doechii, Ed Sheeran, Jelly Roll, Miley Cyrus and Tate McRae tied with four each. Beyoncé and Taylor Swift, who are both nominated for artist of the year, are once again vying for the title of the most VMA wins ever. The show has also added the best country and best pop artist categories.
