Jordan: Issawi inspects Royal initiative projects in Madaba
AMMAN — Royal Court Chief Youssef Issawi on Tuesday conducted a field visit to inspect several Royal Initiative projects in Madaba. Implemented under Royal directives, the projects aim to improve public services, empower local communities and promote sustainable development across the Kingdom, according to a Royal Court statement. In Madaba city, Issawi, who is also head of the follow-up committee for the implementation of Royal initiatives, reviewed progress on the rehabilitation of the official football pitch adjacent to Madaba Secondary School for Boys, where he was briefed on the implementation stages that are nearing completion and proceeding according to the approved timeline. His Majesty King Abdullah had instructed the comprehensive maintenance of the school and rehabilitation of the nearby pitch during a visit to Madaba on 22 April last year. Renovations to the school building were completed ahead of the start of the 2024–2025 academic year, the statement read. In Al Faisaliyeh District, Issawi followed up on progress in the construction of a medical apparel and supplies factory, part of the Productive Branches Initiative. The factory is being developed in partnership with Medical Solutions Company under an agreement signed at the Royal Court between the company and the Ministry of Labour. Issawi toured the 2,500-square-metre facility, which has completed its construction and equipment phase. Residents have been trained to work at the factory, which is expected to create 150 job opportunities in its first year of operation. The factory will produce a wide range of medical consumables, including surgical gowns, head covers, medical gloves, sheets, and bed covers, all designed for sterile medical environments. It would also operate specialised machines to manufacture sterile medical towels, offering an alternative to traditional cotton varieties. As the first of its kind in Jordan, the facility houses 15 production lines and around 150 sewing machines, with a production capacity sufficient to meet local demand and support exports. Speaking to the press, Issawi said these projects reflect His Majesty's vision of launching developmental, service-oriented, and productive projects that enhance service quality and generate employment opportunities for local communities, contributing to sustainable development across all governorates. He stressed that the implementation of Royal Initiatives comes directly at His Majesty's instruction, in response to citizens' needs raised during the King's frequent visits and meetings with community representatives, both in the field and at the Royal Court.

Top firms bid for Oman's Musandam Airport construction works
Several local and international companies have submitted bids for the pre-qualification of contractors for the design and construction of enabling works to the Proposed Musandam Airport in the Wilayat Khasab in Musandam Governorate. Around 20 companies, including some prominent names in Oman's infrastructure development, submitted their bids before the deadline to do so on July 28. The final design of the proposed airport has been completed. The tender was floated by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). As per earlier reports, Musandam Airport is expected to be ready in 2028, and the project assumes significance due to operational challenges facing the current Khasab Airport, especially the possibility of operating services for 24 hours. The project will be divided into phases. The first stage will include a 45-metre-wide runway. A passenger building (to handle 250,000 passengers annually) will be constructed in addition to an air traffic control tower, runway (2,520 metres long and 45 metres wide), taxiways, a fire station, equipment repair shops, a marine rescue station, and parking lots for aircraft. There will be a new road 7-km leading to the airport. In the second phase, the runway will be expanded to 3,300 metres, capable of Airbus 330s, 350s, and Boeing 787s and 777s, in addition to increasing the number of taxiways and parking lots for aircraft, an aircraft isolation yard, and the terminal building (if required). It may be noted that CAA has plans for specialised companies for site selection studies, master plans, design, and supervision for the proposed development of Al Jabal Al Akhdhar, Masirah, and Suhar airports. The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has issued tenders for site selection studies, master plans, design, and supervision for the development of an airport in Masirah. 2025 © All right reserved for Oman Establishment for Press, Publication and Advertising (OEPPA) Provided by SyndiGate Media Inc. Omna: Abraj wins PDO contracts for 6 land drilling rigs in Block 6
Muscat – Abraj Energy Services, Oman's leading oil and gas services provider, on Tuesday announced the signing of significant contracts with Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) to provide six state-of-the-art land drilling rigs for operations in Block 6, one of the sultanate's most strategic energy assets. The rigs are scheduled to commence operations in stages starting from Q4 2026. This milestone agreement marks a major expansion of Abraj's long-standing partnership with PDO and reflects the company's trusted capabilities in delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality drilling solutions. 'This agreement stands as a solid testament to Abraj's consistent operational excellence and the trust we have built through reliable, efficient, and safe delivery,' said Hood Khalfan al Brashdi, Acting Director of Business Development at Abraj Energy Services. 'With our advanced rig fleet and deep technical capabilities, we are proud to expand our collaboration with PDO, reinforcing our role as a key enabler in Oman's energy journey and fulfilling our commitment to performance without compromise.' In addition to the PDO contracts, Abraj continues to accelerate its regional growth. In May, the company signed a contract with BP Oman to supply a drilling rig for Block 61. Abraj has also secured a new contract with ARA Petroleum for drilling operations in Block 44 and signed a contract to deliver a third 3000 HP rig for the WJO field in Kuwait, further reinforcing its presence in key upstream projects across the region. Eng Sulaiman Abdullah al Salmi, PDO Gas Drilling Team Leader, said, 'We value our partnership with Abraj, a company that consistently aligns with our operational and HSE (health, safety and environmental) standards. This contract reaffirms our joint commitment to empowering the national energy sector with safe, efficient, and high-performance solutions.' Since 2020, Abraj has delivered over RO850mn in In-Country Value (ICV), with an Omanisation rate nearing 93%. Within PDO-related operations over the past three years alone, the company generated RO79.1mn in ICV – representing 78% of total spend – including RO20.5mn in 'Made in Oman' procurement and RO33.3mn directed to SMEs and local community contractors. These figures reaffirm Abraj's alignment with national priorities and its role as a key enabler of Oman's energy sector development. In 2024, Abraj recorded a strong financial performance with revenues reaching RO151.6mn, EBITDA of RO53mn, and profit after tax of RO16.9mn. The company maintains industry-leading safety standards, achieving zero Lost Time Incidents (LTI) for the third consecutive year. Rig utilisation remained high, with over 86% for drilling rigs and 100% for workover rigs. Abraj's contractual backlog now exceeds RO500mn, highlighting long-term business resilience and deep customer trust. © Apex Press and Publishing Provided by SyndiGate Media Inc. (
