Dubai, UAE: Dubai Science Park, the region's leading science-focused ecosystem, will contribute to knowledge-building efforts enabling life science innovation at the landmark 50th edition of Arab Health, which opens today at Dubai World Trade Centre.
Part of TECOM Group PJSC, Dubai Science Park is showcasing its thriving community's contribution to long-term sustainable development roadmaps at Arab Health, including Dubai Economic Agenda 'D33', Dubai Research and Development Programme, and We the UAE 2031.

Among the district's planned highlights for the region's leading healthcare event, to be held on 27-30 January, are sessions to build knowledge in crucial areas of the life sciences. A special introductory event of The DSP Leadership Network, an exclusive merit-based and invite-only platform launched by Dubai Science Park to shape the industry's future through meaningful collaboration opportunities, will take place on 29 January. Featuring distinguished thought-leadership panels dedicated to some of Arab Health's prominent healthcare themes, the sessions will provide rich insights on topics including the global shift towards preventative and personalised medicine.
Visitors can find Dubai Science Park and its customers, including Sun Pharma, Inito Research, Ferring Pharmaceuticals, and Oxford Nanopore Technologies, for dedicated knowledge-building sessions on all four days of the event. The district's showcase also features innovative start-ups from in5 Science, the dedicated vertical of TECOM Group's in5 incubator launched in 2023 to foster the next generation of futurists driving scientific advancements.
Among the in5 Science enterprises attending Arab Health with Dubai Science Park are mental health and wellbeing solutions specialist Mentra and remote patient monitoring provider, eMed Support Systems, as well as smart hospital services provider Avisa and Pioneera Biosciences, dedicated to revolutionising access to advanced therapeutic medicinal products.
Dubai Science Park strengthens Dubai's position as a hub for scientific knowledge with a comprehensive ecosystem for the life, energy, and environmental sciences, encompassing Grade-A offices, LEED-certified laboratories, and storage and logistics facilities. The district is home to more than 500 industry leaders, including AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Bayer, and BeiGene, and 6,500 professionals.

18 June 2025 19:20 ABU DHABI (WAM)The Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) organised its first Meet Your Regulator event of the year 2025, held under the theme 'Radiation Oncology: Current & Future', where healthcare professionals and radiation oncology experts discussed trends in oncology, national and international frameworks and regulations for radiation protection of workers and patients, and other technical participants showcased their organisations' methods and procedures for radiological imaging, and how radiological imaging plays an essential role in radiotherapy oncology, guiding treatment planning and adaptive strategies, as well as the role of standardised radiological reviews in enhancing clinical accuracy, ensuring patient safety and adherence to national and international also discussed strategic solutions to address existing challenges in radiotherapy, including the need to standardise guidelines and protocols harmonised with the technological trends in radiation oncology, as well as the potential implementation of AI and digital tools in cancer diagnostics and also explored the need to expand capacity-building programmes to meet future staff needs, cooperation in research and development, and plans to establish a dedicated task force under the Radiation Protection Committee (RPC) to coordinate nationally with health authorities and facilitate expert reviews of regulatory frameworks.'We are committed to fostering collaboration between regulators and healthcare professionals to ensure the highest standards of radiation safety. This event provided a vital platform to exchange expertise, align on best practices, and explore innovations shaping the future of radiation oncology in the UAE, and to help strengthen our shared responsibility to protect both patients and workers, and enabling the safe and effective use of emerging technologies in radiotherapy,' said Aayda Al Shehhi, FANR's Director of Radiation showcased its contributions in developing the UAE's radiation protection infrastructure, including its cooperation with international organisations such as the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), International Committee for Radiation Protection (ICRP), and the establishment of the RPC in 2011, which FANR chairs and plays an advisory role to the UAE government on matters relating to radiation is supporting the UAE's efforts to be a leader in healthcare innovation and a hub for medical tourism, in line with the "Forward Society" pillar of the 'We the UAE 2031' vision that aims, among other goals, to provide high-quality healthcare to all. In October 2025, FANR will host the 8th International Symposium on the System of Radiological Protection, organised by the ICRP, where experts and officials from around the world will exchange expertise and strengthen cooperation in radiological protection.

Home » Smart Sectors » Education » Dubai Research Grant Applications Now Open for Second Cycle Dubai Future Foundation (DFF) has announced the opening of applications for the second cycle of the Dubai Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) Grant Initiative. The program invites universities and research institutions across Dubai to submit high-impact proposals. These proposals should aim to drive progress in technology, the economy, society, and innovation. Launched in collaboration with local and international academic institutions, the initiative supports research aligned with Dubai's national priorities and future strategies. This cycle focuses on two main domains: Cognitive Cities and Health & Life Sciences. Each domain includes four topics that use advanced technologies. DFF revealed that the 'Cognitive Cities' domain supports research in: Smart mobility solutions Next-generation built environments and infrastructure Climate-neutral, resilient urban systems Urban health intelligence for proactive well-being Meanwhile, the 'Health & Life Sciences' domain targets: Biological discovery and systems science Clinical and translational health Health innovation and engineering Biomanufacturing and synthetic biology The foundation reported that proposals will be evaluated based on several criteria. These include alignment with Dubai's RDI priority areas, innovation in methodology, sectoral impact, and budget viability. Applications will remain open until Friday, 13 June 2025. Submissions can be made via Shortlisted candidates will be invited to submit full proposals. Selected projects will receive financial support for periods ranging from one to three years. In the first cycle, the initiative funded 24 research projects from 13 institutions. These were chosen from 374 proposals submitted by 41 academic entities. A total of 219 researchers across various career stages benefitted from the program. The focus areas in the first cycle included Future Cities and Health & Life Sciences. These projects strongly emphasized AI and robotics applications. The initiative was launched in September 2024 by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. He is the Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of DFF. DFF stated that the initiative is part of the broader Dubai Research and Development Programme. It aims to fund bold, future-oriented research and cement Dubai's status as a global innovation leader. Khalifa Al Qama, Executive Director at Dubai Future Labs, said the initiative is designed to support researchers and innovators in Dubai. He added that it provides technical direction and financial support to bring pioneering ideas to life. He also noted that the program builds an integrated platform to encourage scientific research and foresight thinking. This helps develop breakthrough ideas and strengthens Dubai's position as a global hub for creative minds. Recently, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan approved the goals for Phase Two of the Dubai R&D Programme. He allocated AED 750 million to accelerate its progress. The program aims to enable a sustainable digital economy and enhance Dubai's global competitiveness in key future sectors. Overseen by DFF, the Dubai RDI Programme focuses on delivering tested, knowledge-based solutions. It also seeks to boost productivity, support emerging industries, and enhance Dubai's economic resilience and readiness for the future.
