Everything announced at Nintendo Direct July Partner Showcase – including PvZ and Katamari

Daily Mirror3 days ago
Nintendo has finally unleashed a new partner showcase, and there are plenty of games to keep players busy until the holidays
The latest Nintendo Direct showcase has come and gone, leaving fans with a mixed bag of emotions.

Despite the absence of anticipated Animal Crossing updates, there's still plenty to keep players engaged. Nintendo enthusiasts have been eagerly awaiting a new showcase since the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, and the company has somewhat delivered. In a surprising move, Nintendo unveiled a partner showcase that didn't focus on any of the third-party titles that players were expecting.

Instead, they shared 25 minutes of previews for games set to arrive on the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. While some gamers are disgruntled, others are thrilled. After all, they needed more than just guidance on their Donkey Kong Bananza The Divide direction or how to unlock a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive Fortnite emote.

Many were hoping for news on an Elden Ring Tarnished Edition or Final Fantasy 7 Remake release date. However, we were treated to a fresh batch of games that took us by surprise, either because we thought the consoles couldn't handle them, or they were truly unexpected announcements.
Regardless, many fans are satisfied with a Nintendo Direct that introduced a vast number of games with great potential, which will keep them occupied until more first-party titles are revealed.

So, what exactly did you miss in the Nintendo Direct? Here's what you need to catch up on.

New Mario game kept me up until 1am – it's a perfect multiplayer title for kids this summer or late nights with pals

Ticking that box is Nintendo's revamped Super Mario Party Jamboree, which kept not only me but six pals awake until 1am. If you've got kids, this is an absolute dream family title. Super Mario Party Jamboree (Nintendo Switch 2), £66.99 And it really is a good game. If you're new to the Mario Party franchise, it's basically a giant collection of mini-games with very low barriers to entry. You can just pick it up and play. It's fine to play solo, although it's way better if you've got someone else with you. We had friends visit recently, and it kept us up late into the night. It's moreish, like spicy crisps. Or most other Mario games. If you've ever played Jackbox Games, Mario Party serves a similar purpose. It's packed with loads of Mario-themed mini-games. Some of them demand speedy reactions, while others will challenge your memory. SUPER MARIO PARTY JAMBOREE GAMEPLAY The good thing is that all of the games are very simple. There are dozens on offer, and you'll easily pick any of them up in seconds. Spiky bars rolled right at me, so I had to quickly sidestep or leap in the air to dodge them. Another had me yanking bread out of an oven – but only once it had baked to perfection. Too soon? No coins! You can enjoy a sort of 'Grand Prix' of mini-game series, so you'll earn points after a few rounds – and then see who came out on top. They're mostly tucked into a new section of the game called Jamboree TV. One of the main differences here is a set of games built for mouse-style controls. Well, there are a few downsides. It took me quite a while to actually get playing. I'd say there's a good five minutes of unskippable content before you can start. It's not the end of the world, but I'd rather have just been able to get going right away. As well as that, the game has a £66.99 price tag attached. So you'll want to make sure you're going to get enough use out of it. IS SUPER MARIO PARTY JAMBOREE WORTH BUYING? It's always tempting to just stick on Mario Kart. But Super Mario Party Jamboree is a great alternative with loads of variety, and sparks a bit more chat than a regular Mario Kart game. You're also far less likely to see major skill differences on this versus Mario Kart. Rather than one person always winning, you might be good at one mini-game and rubbish at the next. 11 You'll recognise loads of classic Mario characters Credit: Sean Keach / The Sun There's loads of variety so you won't get bored. It's not exactly cheap at £67, but if you snap it up now, you'll probably get loads of play-time in over summer. And then again at Christmas. The Sun says: One of the best "family" games out there – but it's perfect for a night with friends too. A mini-game treasure trove that will hook Mario fans, and convert everyone else. 4.5/5 Super Mario Party Jamboree (Nintendo Switch 2), £66.99 11 Nintendo fans will get hours of fun from Super Mario Party Jamboree Credit: Nintendo All prices in this article were correct at the time of writing, but may have since changed. Maya Jama 'is planning to follow in Molly-Mae Hague's footsteps as she plots a major new career move'

Love Island host Maya Jama could soon be lighting up screens in a whole new way - by launching her own YouTube series. The TV presenter, 30, is said to be eyeing up a major career shift that would see her dive into the influencer world and cash in on her huge online following. Maya has reportedly been taking inspiration from the likes of Molly-Mae Hague, who's made a fortune turning her brand into a business on the social media platform. The star even dropped a hint to fans online, recently posting a story calling out 'lurking likers' a nod to the silent audience already keeping tabs on her content. Following a massive 115 million views in just a month - including over 10 million on a holiday carousel with her Manchester City star boyfriend Ruben Dias - the presenter took to social media to share the impressive figures with her 3.2 million followers. She didn't hold back either, calling out the silent onlookers who scroll without engaging, joking she might need to 'start a YouTube so I can convert the watchers to money at least'. Daily Mail have contacted Maya's representatives for comment. Maya and Ruben, 30, have been dating for several months and have enjoyed numerous romantic holidays together. It is now thought the pair are taking the next step in their relationship as things are getting serious between the couple. It has been claimed that Maya is eyeing up splitting her time between London and Manchester to spend more time with Ruben. Ruben's commitment to Maya early on in their romance reportedly secured things for the couple and they are even said to be looking at moving in together. A source told The Sun: 'Ruben made sure from the start that his intentions with Maya were clear, he knows he's struck gold and wants to make sure Maya knows how seriously he feels about her. 'Being honest and open about what he wants from their future was the secret weapon in securing a future with Maya. 'Maya's work, home and friends are in London so she doesn't want to leave there entirely, but is considering going between there and Manchester.' The news comes after the TV presenter shared her impressive figures on her Instagram, calling out the silent watchers who look at what she's posting, but don't engage Maya is currently busy splitting her time between Mallorca and London as she hosts live from the Love Island villa and presents spin-off chat show Aftersun. Amid her busy Love Island filming schedule, Maya and Ruben have still found to enjoy some sun-soaked trips and recently jetted off to Ibiza together. Maya shared an array of loved-up snaps of the pair of them as she documented their budding romance after going Instagram official in May. Every inch the supportive girlfriend, the TV host has been seen at multiple football games over the last few months to watch Ruben live in action for Man City. Footage of the pair last month showed them with their arms around each other before he leant into her neck for a peck. Ruben tried to fly under the radar and keep a low profile as he stepped out in casual clothes and a cap. A source told The Sun: 'Maya and Ruben seemed very close, very loved up and were clearly very comfortable with each other. 'They were chatting to others around them but gravitated back to each other. They seem very happy with each other.' It was the first time they were seen in public since they were thought to have started dating - though Maya had hinted at the romance by sharing snaps of flowers she was sent. They were first linked in November of last year, four months after Maya and Stormzy had announced their split.
