AM Green Group acquires 17.5 pc stake in Greenko Energy Holdings from ORIX

Kakinada (Andhra Pradesh), June 30 (UNI) AM Green BV today said it has signed definitive documents to acquire 17.5 per cent equity stake in Greenko Energy Holdings from ORIX Corporation, through its wholly owned subsidiary AM Green Power BV.
AMG will own 25 percent stake (along with AMG promoter's current stake) in Greenko post-closing of this transaction in July 2025, the company said in a release here.
As part of this transaction, ORIX has also entered into an agreement to invest in a convertible note issued by AM Green (Luxembourg) S.à.r.l ("AMG Lux"), the parent company that holds all shares of AMG.
This investment will provide ORIX long-term exposure to green hydrogen, ammonia, SAF and other next-gen molecules, aligning with its capital recycling strategy.
'This transaction is a key milestone in building one of the world's fully integrated and scalable green energy platforms,' said Anil Chalamalasetty, Founder and CEO of AM Green.
'We thank ORIX for their continued partnership and belief in our vision,' he added.
ORIX stake acquisition strengthens AM Green's upstream integration through Greenko, one of India's leading renewable energy companies, operating over 10 GW of renewable and pumped storage assets. Greenko is on track to build the world's largest 'Intelligent Energy Storage Cloud Platform' with over 100 GWh of daily storage capacity by 2030.
Founded in 2023 by Greenko co-founders, Anil Chalamalasetty and Mahesh Kolli, AMG is one of the largest fully integrated Power-to-X (P2X) platform with access to end to end industrial decarbonization solutions including renewable power (solar, wind, hydro), long-duration storage (pumped hydro), most competitive round the clock carbon free power and green molecules (green hydrogen, green ammonia, low carbon caustic soda, ethanol, and sustainable aviation fuel).
AMG has plans to produce 5 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of green ammonia, with the first 1 MTPA project under construction in Kakinada (Andhra Pradesh).
AMG has also signed green ammonia supply term sheets with several industrial and power companies in the OECD markets including Uniper SE, an energy company, and Yara Clean Ammonia, a trader and distributor of ammonia.
AMG has also signed globally the largest power purchase agreements for supply of round the clock carbon free energy for its first 2 MTPA green ammonia projects and has access to electrolyzers through its manufacturing JV with John Cockerill.
AM Green's Kakinada industrial complex, currently under construction, will be the world's first and largest integrated green industrial zone. It will house 2 MTPA of green ammonia production, 2 GW electrolyzer gigafactory and facilities for SAF and green chemical production.
In 2024, AMG acquired Chempolis, a Finland-based innovator in sustainable biomass processing, to support its Bio2X platform. Known for its low-emission, low-water, and zero-waste process, Chempolis technology offers a scalable solution for circular bioeconomy applications, aligning with AM Green's commitment to decarbonization.
Greenko's flagship 1.7 GW pumped storage project in Andhra Pradesh has already been commissioned with its next two pumped storage projects in Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka (2.5 GWs) are expected to be commissioned in 2026 and 2027 respectively.

Air India crash compensation row: How should the airline allay fears? Experts debate

India Today has accessed Air India's compensation forms for families of victims in the Ahmedabad plane crash. The forms seek information about the victim's employment status and financial dependency of family members on the deceased. Some families, represented by a UK-based law firm, allege coercion in submitting these financial disclosures. Air India denies these charges, stating that all compensation will be done as per established procedures. The airline has already paid interim relief to 47 families. The controversy raises questions about the fairness of the compensation process and the potential for enhanced compensation claims. So, how should the airline allay the fears of the families of crash victims? Legal experts discuss this and more on the show.

Automated parking system gets mixed response in Pune

Pune: Space limitations in major cities are driving a gradual shift towards elevated and high-rise car parking solutions. Modern technology now offers several advanced options beyond the traditional elevated parking commonly found in residential complexes. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Project requirements dictate the choice of design, with options including the chess set pattern, aisle pattern, and rotary pattern, among others. While most people still prefer conventional ground-level parking, the severe space constraints in cities like Mumbai necessitate high-rise car parks that can extend up to 70 meters in height. In contrast, homebuyers in the Pune area show mixed preferences when it comes to these more intricate car parking designs. "Consumers are quickly getting used to modern parking systems, which now even come with AI. These systems can tell you exactly how many parking spots are open, cutting down on the time you spend driving around looking for one. Developers, too, are finding it impossible to meet parking requirements with just traditional stilt and basement parking, so they have to go with mechanized systems," Manish Jain, president of Credai Pune Metro, said. A developer based in Pimpri Chinchwad said, "While complicated parking designs are still rare, they are starting to appear in redevelopment projects where the plot sizes are very small. However, in areas like Pimpri Chinchwad, we have even seen some buyers cancel their bookings if a project features elevated parking." Milind Padole, founder of Pune-based Affordable Robotics and Automation Pvt Ltd (ARAPL), said Mumbai, Chennai, and Bengaluru are major markets. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now "High-rise parking systems are one of the verticals of the company that is involved in providing robotics and automation solutions to car manufacturers and e-commerce companies. It has a 30% share in the automated parking space in Mumbai," he said. "There is no space in cities like Mumbai. Everything is redevelopment. In the case of high-rise parking, we can fit around 60 to 70 cars in the space of three cars. The automated parking consumes around one unit of electricity when used once. In localities like Walkeshwar in Mumbai, where there is no space at all, but the buyers are ready, we can install chess-type parking, which can cost up to Rs 11 lakh per spot," he said. The ARAPL has installed some automated parking for public projects in a couple of smart cities like Visakhapatnam and Kerala. However, it is treading lightly in this business as adaptation is happening at a slow pace, either because of preference or lack of funds. "The technology exists, but there is some resistance from the end-customers. At some point, civic administration and developers need to decide if roads are to be used for parking or driving. If roads are meant for driving, then cars should not be parked on the roads," Padole said.

ED uncovers 100cr financialfraud in Jaipur-based company

Jaipur: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) Friday conducted raids at 12 locations across Jaipur, Tonk and Kota, uncovering a massive financial fraud exceeding Rs 100 crore by Debock Industries Ltd, a city-based group. The agency had investigated the company following a complaint by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi). During the raids, ED officials seized over Rs 70 lakh in cash, property documents. The group's eight luxury vehicles, including a Rolls Royce and a Bentley, are also being assessed. The operations targeted the premises of company owner Mukesh Manvir Singh and other key individuals allegedly involved in the scam, including Gaurav Jain and Jyoti Chaudhary. According to a senior ED official who spoke on condition of anonymity, the Jaipur-based company, which operates in agricultural equipment, hospitality services and mining sectors, allegedly created fake firms and appointed proxy directors between 2020 and 2023 to inflate their earnings and balance sheets. "This manipulation resulted in an extraordinary increase in the company's share price from Rs 8 to Rs 150 within six months during 2023," the ED official told TOI. The investigation revealed that the company manipulated the share through listing fictitious entities in the stock market. Sebi had initially filed a prosecution complaint against Debock Industries in Aug 2024, which led to the ED investigating the company for money laundering in March 2025. The probe will continue as ED processes the seized documents and assets. Investigators are currently reviewing monetary documentation, payment pathways and corporate hierarchies connected to the company and its related business units.
