Texas WR Ryan Wingo undergoes LASIK surgery ahead of spring football Wingo was still able to catch from Manning.
Freshman wide receiver Ryan Wingo was expected to make an impact for the Texas Longhorns in his first season, but few could have predicted the extent of his contributions. Even more surprising, he accomplished it despite what has been described as 'very poor vision' on the field.
According to Orangebloods.com reporter Anwar Richardson, Wingo underwent LASIK surgery during the offseason after Texas staff discovered he was struggling with significant vision issues.
'According to my sources, Texas WR Ryan Wingo recently had LASIK surgery after the staff discovered he was struggling with very poor vision after struggling in workouts,' Richardson shared on X. 'Apparently, he dealt with it last season. However, he'll clearly see those dimes from Arch Manning this season.'
Wingo, a five-star recruit and one of the Longhorns' top offensive weapons, made his collegiate debut in Texas' season opener against Colorado State. He led the team with 70 receiving yards on four catches, including a 30-yard reception. His impact continued throughout the season, highlighted by a career-high 127-yard performance against UTSA, which included a 75-yard touchdown grab from quarterback Arch Manning.
The St. Louis native also played a key role in Texas' transition to SEC competition, contributing in matchups against Mississippi State, Oklahoma, and Georgia. He finished the regular season with 16 games played, tallying multiple receptions in the College Football Playoff matchups against Clemson, Arizona State, and Georgia.

Victor Wembanyama Reveals How Much Weight He's Gained Since Entering The NBA

Victor Wembanyama Reveals How Much Weight He's Gained Since Entering The NBA originally appeared on Fadeaway World. Victor Wembanyama was the most hyped prospect to enter the NBA in years in 2023, and he has certainly lived up to all the hype. The one big concern regarding Wembanyama at the time was his slender frame, and he revealed during an appearance on Cold as Balls that he has gained 30 lbs since entering the NBA. "I gained probably like 30 lbs," Wembanyama said. Wembanayama stated he came in at around 215 to 220 lbs and is at 245 now. Host Kevin Hart wondered how the 21-year-old had managed to do that. "Strength training, of course, but the main thing for me is I could, in theory, put on a lot of weight, but I would lose some of my mobility," Wembanyama stated. "Some of my athleticism. So, it's something that needs to be done really carefully, and I have a lot of eyes and a lot of minds thinking about me in this instance." There were many calling for Wembanyama to bulk up as they feared his slender frame wouldn't be able to handle the rigors of the NBA. He and his team didn't pay any attention to the outside noise, though, and were focused on strength training. Wembanyama played 71 games in his rookie season after the San Antonio Spurs drafted him with the first pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, and ended it with averages of 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 1.2 steals, and 3.6 blocks per game. He won Rookie of the Year and finished second in voting for DPOY. Wembanyama looked set to win the award and play over 70 games this season, but it wasn't to be. He was ruled out for the season at the All-Star break due to deep vein thrombosis in his right shoulder. That had nothing to do with Wembanyama's frame, of course. It was just an unfortunate health problem, but it isn't expected to be a problem moving forward. We should be able to see Wembanyama at his best in the 2025-26 season. He averaged 24.3 points, 11.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.1 steals, and 3.8 blocks per game before going down this past season, and it will be interesting to see if he takes a leap. Victor Wembanyama's Agent's Strong Message To Those Who Wanted His Client To Bulk Up Wembanyama's agent, Bouna Ndiaye, had addressed all the talk about his client needing to bulk up. Ndiaye made it clear that they will fight to not put weight on his body. "Did you see an issue here in Vegas? No. People are wrong," Ndiaye said. "We're not focused at all on weights. I don't want to put weight on his body. We're going to fight to not put weight on his body. Weight on his body [is] a big mistake. We focus on strength, core. We were very pleased that he linked up [with] Jabbar who played until [41] years old. That's the path that we want to take …" "I'm very glad they, they connected because uh, have a similar body type," Ndiaye continued. "Kareem was not heavy. Victor is more mobile, gaudier and taller than Kareem. So, that difference in height is a challenge and is something that we are working on every day. Making him heavy? We don't want to do that." Wembanyama's frame is somewhat similar to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's. Abdul-Jabbar never had to bulk up a lot to go down as one of the greatest players in NBA history, and the Spurs star's camp believes he won't have to story was originally reported by Fadeaway World on Jun 23, 2025, where it first appeared.

Victor Wembanyama Warns Spurs Against Trading Youth For A Star

Victor Wembanyama Warns Spurs Against Trading Youth For A Star originally appeared on Fadeaway World. The situation is growing increasingly unstable in San Antonio as they attempt to build a contender around Victor Wembanyama. But as teams across the league race to stockpile elite, veteran talent, Victor wants his squad to take more of a patient and methodical approach with their roster construction. 'Breaking up a young core for a single player rarely works," said Wemby, via L'Equipe. "I want the Spurs to be a balanced team; they've been masters of that in the past.' The modern game has popularized the concept of star-stacking, meaning one team with multiple All-NBA-level players. Over the years, we've seen teams like the Heat, Warriors, Nets, and Suns utilize this trend to varying degrees of success. For the Nets and Suns, in particular, trading for a star is what ultimately put them in the bleak state they are in. In the case of Wembanyama and the Spurs, they are taking a different approach. Instead of taking the bold and flashy approach to competing, Wembanyama, 21, is preaching patience and emphasizing the value of building around young talent rather than gutting the roster for a win-now gamble. Over two seasons in the NBA, the French superstar is averaging 24.3 points, 11.0 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game on 47.6% shooting. As the No. 1 overall pick in 2023, he's had to manage big expectations from the start, and he's eager to start being more competitive as a team going forward. The good news is, the Spurs may not have to wait much longer for reinforcements to arrive. Currently, the franchise is sitting on a nice stockpile of young talent (Devin Vassell, Jeremy Sochan, Stephon Castle) and draft picks, which they could either develop or use in trades to fill out the roster. They also have millions in cap space over the next few years, which they can use to attract top free agents. Of course, the Spurs have already been involved in multiple trade negotiations involving stars like Trae Young, Donovan Mitchell, and Kevin Durant, but nothing has materialized besides the deal for De'Aaron Fox back in February. Unlike most stars in his position, Victor is not putting any added pressure on his team to secure a deal for elite-level talent. As the franchise centerpiece, he's already influencing the team's philosophy, but he's also got enough sense to prioritize a strong and stable foundation over any risky or flashy trades. For a guy with two years of experience in the league, Victor is already showing amazing maturity, and he's got his priorities straight as the team's leading voice. All that's left for the Spurs is doing their part to encourage his success and create a team that can build a lasting legacy. Victor Wembanyama's mindset is rare for a player of his caliber and age. While many young stars pressure their teams to win fast, Wemby is thinking like a true franchise cornerstone, willing to sacrifice instant results for something more sustainable. For the Spurs, his voice carries weight, and it could be the guiding principle as they build toward contention the right story was originally reported by Fadeaway World on Jul 14, 2025, where it first appeared.
