Jake Paul's trainer admits he REFUSED to coach YouTube star at first… and reveals what convinced him to make U-turn

JAKE PAUL has put his boxing career into the hands of esteemed trainer Theo Chambers - the man who once wanted nothing to do with him.
Chambers - nicknamed Third - comes from the legendary Kronk gym in Detroit - made famous by iconic trainer Emanuel Steward.

The coach has worked with world champions like Andre Dirrell and Cornelius Bundrage - and most importantly J'Leon Love.
Love - a former super-middleweight contender from Floyd Mayweather's Las Vegas gym - has been part of Paul's camp since his professional debut.
And the assistant coach tried to recruit Chambers to join the YouTuber-turned-boxer's team.
But Chambers told SunSport: "I said no! I was training world class fighters, ranked fighters.

"I mean, at the time when he said YouTube, I didn't even know what that meant. And then when I actually found out what it meant, then I really wasn't."
Eventually, Love persuaded Chambers to watch Paul's 2022 victory over UFC legend Anderson Silva.
And after Paul took Tyson Fury's brother Tommy the distance a year later - despite losing a split-decision - he was convinced to accept the gig.
Chambers said: "Every fight that Jake had, J'Leon was there so he would always call me before the fights. 'Hey, watch it on TV, watch it, watch it.'

What time and channel is the Jake Paul fight on? TV and stream details

Jake Paul faces Julio Cesar Chavez Jr tonight – and a win could catapult him into world title contention. Paul has padded his record largely against retired MMA fighters and fellow influencers, but Chavez Jr represents a significant step up as a former world champion. A victory tonight would likely earn Paul a ranking from at least one major sanctioning body, potentially positioning him for a shot at a cruiserweight title. Chavez Jr, however, will be determined to avoid the humiliation of losing to a YouTuber-turned-boxer. He's only fought once in the past four years, narrowly outpointing ex-UFC fighter Uriah Hall. Here's everything you need to know about tonight's bout – including the start time and how to watch. After his fight with Mike Tyson was shown on Netflix, Jake Paul returns to DAZN tonight for his clash with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. The fight will NOT be included as part of your DAZN subscription but will instead be shown on pay-per-view, meaning fans will have to stump up £24.99 to watch. You can sign up for DAZN and purchase the fight by clicking the link below... Jake Paul and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr will likely walk to the ring just after 4am (Irish time) with the fight starting closer to 4.30am. With the fight being staged in California, this will be 8.30pm local time so don't be surprised if the fight actually gets underway closer to 5am Irish time. As always, the main event time will be dictated to some extent by how long the undercard fights take to complete. Jake Paul vs Julio Cesar Chavez Jr - 4.30am Jake Paul, who boldly and perhaps absurdly claims to be the face of boxing, will need to stylishly defeat Julio Cesar Chavez Jr to validate his audacious claim. It's been over two years since Paul faced a 'genuine' boxer, Tommy Fury, and he now faces a significant step up from 58 year old Mike Tyson, whom he outscored last November. However, Chavez Jr has been largely inactive, having fought only once in the past four years, scraping a victory over ex-UFC star Uriah Hall. Gilberto Ramirez vs Yuniel Dorticos - 3.30am If both men triumph in their respective bouts tonight, Gilberto Ramirez could be the one to give Jake Paul his dream world title shot. Before Paul steps into the ring against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, Ramirez will defend his cruiserweight world title against Yuniel Dorticos, a former champion himself. Having won three consecutive fights after his sole career loss to Dmitry Bivol, Ramirez is the favourite for tonight's match. Floyd Schofield vs Tevin Farmer - 2.30am Floyd Schofield was scheduled to fight Shakur Stevenson earlier this year but withdrew during fight week due to illness. Instead, he'll face veteran Tevin Farmer tonight, aiming to put on a spectacular performance to secure another high-profile bout. Schofield risks his undefeated record against Farmer, who has lost his last three fights and is eager to make a stylish comeback. Avious Griffin vs Julian Rodriguez - 1.45am With just one defeat in 40 fights between them, there's a lot at stake tonight. Avious Griffin remains undefeated in his career, having won all 17 of his bouts and knocked out all but one of his opponents. Julian Rodriguez, who has only fought three times since his loss to Jose Pedraza in 2021, needs a win tonight to reignite his career. Raul Curiel vs Victor Ezequiel Rodriguez - 1am Two unbeaten fighters start the pay-per-view segment of the fight card, with both men winning all but one of their fights - the other being a draw. Raul Curiel was held to a draw in his last bout just before Christmas, while Victor Ezequiel Rodriguez has claimed four victories since his sole setback in 2023. Holly Holm vs Yolanda Guadalupe Vega Ochoa Victor Morales vs Rene Alvarado Joel Iriarte vs Kevin Johnson Joshua Edwards vs Dominicc Hardy John Ramirez vs Joahnys Argilagos Alexander Gueche vs Vincent Avina Jake Paul: "He's a great fighter. I like big names, legendary names, and he's on my path to a world championship. This is a tough test, a very tough test, but I'm here to challenge myself and do big things in this sport and then make a title run after I beat him. He's coming in prepared. They're saying this is the hardest he's ever trained, and he's right…I'm not a good boxer. I'm a great boxer." Julio Cesar Chavez Jr: "I don't think he's good. I think he tries, he trains hard, but he's not a good fighter. He's definitely not a good boxer. If he were a good boxer, then everyone else on this stage would be a legend. I don't think he's a good boxer, and everybody knows that. My preparation, I always prepare to take a win. I'm here to win and that's why I'm so confident that I will win."
