Kenyan content creator and model Elsa Majimbo misses South Africa, and unlike the average tourist, she doesn't miss the country's biggest tourist attractions like a drive in the safari.
'I miss Groove, I miss watching people's phones get stolen in real time, I miss biltong and Braai and Savanna,' said Majimbo in a post recently.
She described her time living in Mzansi as 'one of the best stages of my life'.

In 2021, Majimbo remained in South Africa after initially visiting the country for work-related reasons.
'The first night I was there, the guy takes me to this fabulous restaurant and then after we're eating, he says 'come let me show you something',' shared Majimbo in a video.
The model said her chaperone took her to an underground club, which she enjoyed. The campaign for which she came to South Africa was extended, meaning her time in the country would be longer.
'During my whole time, that's what I did, we went to like cool art galleries, we went to see all these artists do graffiti, like day parties—it was so cool, it was cool, beautiful people,' shared Majimbo.
She said her time in South Africa was like an indie movie.
'When my trip was extended, I needed to go to Brazzaville, so I went to Brazzaville because I was doing a photo shoot with one of my friends, and then I fly back to South Africa a few days later,' she said.
On the first day of her return to the country, she visited Blondies in Greenside with friends. After spending time at the popular bar, she decided to stay longer in South Africa.
'I remember us just like…my hair in the wind, my Fenty sunglasses, it was so cool. The music playing, Tems was blasting, it was amazing. And as I was there, I just thought to myself 'I'm not going back home'.'
'That night, I told my assistant to cancel my flight back home, I called my mom and dad… I told them: 'hey, I'm gonna stay in South Africa', and that is literally what I did.
I learnt how to skate, I started an affair with a skater boy, I just stayed doing fun cool sh*t with fun cool people. It was literally an episode of Euphoria the whole time.'
Majimbo has been based in the US after eventually leaving South Africa in 2021.

Captain to captain: Siya Kolisi gives Jesse Kriel seal of approval

Siya Kolisi has proverbially handed the Springbok captain reigns over to his colleague Jesse Kriel in a sweet social media post. The 34-year-old was ruled out of the Bok's upcoming match against Italy due to another physical niggle. Jesse stepped up into the leader role in a game against the Barbarians in Cape Town last weekend. In a sweet Instagram snap, Siya Kolisi showed love to Jesse Kriel, who would take up position as Springbok captain this weekend. The rugby squad will play Italy at Loftus in their first test match of the year. In the post, Siya posted a clip of an embrace with Jesse following the 2023 Rugby World Cup win. Another image shows the duo bonding over a traditional Xhosa meal spent with elders. 'Sikhokhele' [Lead us], Siya captioned the post. In the comments, Jesse Kriel, who is fluent in Xhosa, responded: 'I love you, bra.' Siya Kolisi's show of affection to Jesse Kriel mirrors that of his father Fezakele, who did the same during the Eastern Cape leg of the Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour in 2023. During the stop, Kriel and fellow Springbok Deon Fourie visited the Zwide township, the home of Siya. Siya's father, the spitting image of his rugby player son, was there to greet them. The elderly man greeted Jesse and Deon with hugs and kisses and even jokingly placed the trophy on his head. Siya is also known for his playful and affectionate personality towards his colleagues. Hollywoodbets Durban July: meet the first black horse racing announcer in isiZulu on TV

When it comes to South Africa's black pioneers, the name Sanele Mchunu now stands alongside the greats from Comrades Marathon champion Sam Tshabalala, to Springbok captain Siya Kolisi, and music star Khaya Mthethwa. Hailing from Mpophomeni in Howick, Mchunu has carved out his own place in history as the first black person to announce horse races in isiZulu on national television. The 41-year-old, who now lives in KwaNyuswa near Pinetown, was hired by Race Coast and on Saturday July 5 takes to the mic at the prestigious Hollywoodbets Durban July, a moment that marks both personal triumph and a step forward for representation in the horse racing industry. Speaking to Isolezwe, Mchunu reflected on the opportunity that came his way in 2023, when Hollywoodbets sought to revitalise horse racing by making it more accessible to a broader audience. 'I was challenged to announce the races in isiZulu something I'd never even dreamed of,' he said. 'But I grabbed the opportunity with both hands.' Since then, Mchunu has become a regular voice in the sport and hopes his role will open doors for others. 'Even after Smanga Khumalo's historic Durban July win, there's still only one Black horse trainer in the country,' he said. 'This is an industry with huge employment potential, and it's time more Black South Africans got involved - not just at major events like the Durban July, but throughout the year.' Mchunu's journey began in the classrooms of KwaMqhathi Primary in KwaMpande, before moving to KwaNyuswa's St Lawrence Primary and later completing matric at Khabazela High School in Embo. He went on to study Video Technology at what is now the Durban University of Technology. His professional media career began in 2006 as a video editor at the SABC, followed by stints at SuperSport TV and, eventually, Gallop TV under where he now works as a studio producer. While he hasn't yet married, Mchunu is a proud father of three and continues to make strides, not only for himself, but for the next generation of broadcasters, sports enthusiasts, and horse racing professionals.
