Brazil journalist steps on girl's body while reporting her disappearence, chilling video emerges
According to The Sun, journalist Lenildo Frazao had entered the river to showcase its depth and to show the spot where Raissa had been swimming before she went missing. Unaware of what was beneath, Frazao entered the water as cameras rolled.
The viral video of the moment shows Frazao suddenly backing away when the water reached his chest. He then quickly retreated to shallower waters, casting anxious glances towards the area.
'I think there's something down here at the bottom of the water,' he told his crew. Moments later, he said, 'No, I'm not going, I'm scared. It looked like an arm, could it be her? But it might be a fish, too. I don't know.'

The video caught the Internet's attention, sparking a wave of reactions with several social media users suspecting the reporter. 'What the chances of that? I'm gonna say, I think he's a suspect now,' a user wrote. 'They knew it prior, this was just to dramatise the whole event for views or sensationalism. Humans in there worse form!' another user commented.
'He should be investigated,' a third user reacted.
Reports further stated that following the incident, firefighters and divers resumed their search for Raissa on June 30. They recovered her body at the exact location where the reporter had been filming. While it's not confirmed whether Frazao actually made contact with her remains, the timing and placement of the discovery raised questions.
Raissa had gone missing while swimming with friends, and a post-mortem examination later confirmed her death was the result of accidental drowning, the report said. No signs of physical trauma were found. She was laid to rest on the evening of June 30, following a community vigil. Her school declared three days of mourning.

Social media companies not liable for 2022 Buffalo mass shooting, New York court rules
Several social media companies should not be held liable for helping an avowed white supremacist who killed 10 Black people in 2022 at a Buffalo, New York grocery store, a divided New York state appeals court ruled on Friday. Reversing a lower court ruling, the state Appellate Division in Rochester said defendants including Meta Platforms' Facebook and Instagram, Google's YouTube, and Reddit were entitled to immunity under a federal law that protects online platforms from liability over user content. The case arose from Payton Gendron's racially motivated mass shooting at Tops Friendly Markets on May 14, 2022. Relatives and representatives of victims, as well as store employees and customers who witnessed the attack, claimed the defendants' platforms were defective because they were designed to addict and radicalise users like Gendron. Lawyers for the plaintiffs did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Other defendants included Alphabet, Discord, 4chan, Snap and Twitch, all of which Gendron used, the mid-level state appeals court said. Writing for a 3-2 majority, Justice Stephen Lindley said holding social media companies liable would undermine the intent behind Section 230 of the federal Communications Decency Act, to promote development of and competition on the internet while keeping government interference to a minimum. While condemning Gendron's conduct and "the vile content that motivated him to assassinate Black people simply because of the color of their skin," Lindley said a liability finding would "result in the end of the Internet as we know it." "Because social media companies that sort and display content would be subject to liability for every untruthful statement made on their platforms, the Internet would over time devolve into mere message boards," he wrote. Justices Tracey Bannister and Henry Nowak dissented, saying the defendants force-fed targeted content to keep users engaged, be it videos about cooking or puppies, or white nationalist vitriol. "Such conduct does not maintain the robust nature of Internet communication or preserve the vibrant and competitive free market that presently exists for the Internet contemplated by the protections of immunity," the judges wrote. Gendron pleaded guilty to state charges including murder and terrorism motivated by hate, and was sentenced in February 2023 to life in prison without parole. He faces related federal charges that could lead to the death penalty. Questioning of potential jurors in that case is scheduled to begin in August 2026, court records show.

Watch: Elephants on the loose smash vehicles on Kerala streets, locals flee in panic
A video of a herd of three elephants wreaking havoc near the residential areas of Karuvarakundu's Thuvvur and Iringattiri regions in Kerala is doing rounds on the Internet. The wild elephants attacked several vehicles, triggering fear among the locals. The viral video shows three elephants running loose on the road, charging towards vehicles abandoned by their drivers. One of the elephants attacked a mini pickup truck, lifting its front, and pushing it backwards. As locals and authorities rush to the scene, the animals disappear into the woods. Sharing the video, an Instagram user, Nisar Kurikkal, wrote, 'It's a shocking video of group of elephants attacking vehicles and public getting panicked in Karuvarakundu, Kerala.' Watch the video here: A post shared by Nisar Kurikkal (@nisarkurikkal) According to a report in Onmanorama, the elephants wandered from the Parayinkunnu forest area and destroyed several vehicles, crops, and injured locals. The report stated that one of the elephants fell into a well while passing through a populated neighbourhood in Akkarakulam. After several efforts by the forest officials, the elephants were driven back into the forest. Early this week, a female elephant and its calf attacked a tractor trolley while Kanwarias were camping on the Dehradun highway. 'We keep raising awareness on the importance of conservation. Since the yatris play music on loudspeakers through the day, they did not turn it off, despite directions against it at night and near forest areas. A man was injured in the incident and taken to the hospital,' said Neeraj Sharma, divisional forest officer. Haridwar police have issued clear instructions on noise control and have taken strict action against violators. Last week, more than three dozen DJ systems were sent back after being found in breach of the permitted noise levels, size limits, and regulatory guidelines.
