Elon Musk's Grok video tool may get Spicy Mode: Here's what it will do

Time of India2 days ago
Elon Musk
's artificial intelligence startup, xAI, has reportedly announced that
Grok
chatbot's video generation tool may get a new "Spicy Mode.' This mode may allow users to generate 6-second video clips, including explicit ones, a report claims. The
Spicy Mode
is expected to be a part of Grok's "Imagine" video generation tool, which the company confirmed in a recent post on the social media platform X (earlier Twitter) shared from the chatbot's official account. As per the post, this tool can create videos with sound in response to user prompts. Meanwhile, in a different thread of posts shared by
xAI
employee
Mati Roy
, showed examples of videos generated by the new Grok feature, which included a robot and an "alien tribal woman." Roy's thread was even labelled as adult content on X.
What Grok's Spicy Mode will do and why it's controversial
According to a report by NBC News, Roy mentioned in one of the posts that "
Grok Imagine
videos have a spicy mode that can do nudity.' However, that tweet appears to have been deleted now. Another X user named Min Choi also confirmed that the Spicy Mode, which can create explicit videos, is coming to Grok.

Roy's deleted post about Grok's AI video generator mentioned its ability to create lifelike human videos and animate still images. However, some observers have raised concerns that the tool may be misused to produce personalised
explicit content
.
Previously, multiple individuals raised concerns about Grok being used to create sexually explicit images in their likeness. A young woman named Evie told USA Today that her selfies were turned into explicit imagery using the
AI chatbot
.
Despite X implementing restrictions on specific phrases, users reportedly found other ways to harass victims, including asking the bot to generate stories depicting sexual assault.
Some of the other recent Grok-related launches have also been controversial, including a sexualized AI 'companion.' Similarly, the latest feature has raised concerns about enabling deepfakes—realistic, altered videos that may mimic people without their consent.
The release date for "Imagine" is set for later this year, with some employees and subscribers reportedly having early access. Musk has indicated that programmers are still refining the feature. This update is part of Grok 4, the latest version of the AI chatbot, which the company describes as a highly advanced artificial intelligence.

Indian-origin woman advocates working ‘14+ hours a day… It's baseline'; internet reacts

An Indian-origin woman and founder of a US-based startup has stirred a heated discussion online after claiming that working 80 hours a week is not excessive but simply the 'baseline'. Neha Suresh, the founder of April – a US-based AI voice assistant app – posted a timelapse video on X (formerly Twitter), showing her working from early morning until late at night. In her now-viral post, Suresh wrote: 'If you're not spending 14+ hours a day working on your dream, you're ngmi.' She added, 'You can't build a world-changing product on 9–5 energy. 80-hour weeks aren't extreme. It's baseline.' Her comments, which have racked up over 65,000 views, sparked a range of responses from users — from admiration to criticism. One person asked, 'What do you do to decompress after an 80-hour week? Physically. What actually works?' Another replied with sarcasm, 'Why just 14 hours? Make it 24.' Some shared personal experiences. 'I burned out chasing 80-hour weeks. Found I actually build better products when I'm rested and thinking clearly,' a user wrote. Another commented, 'Wow, another person who's never had to pay bills or have a social life telling me how to live my best life.' The post has since fuelled a wider conversation about work-life balance and the pressure of hustle culture in startups and tech. Joining the ongoing conversation about work-life balance, India-origin tech leader Dharmesh Shah had offered a frank take on the reality of building a successful startup. Shah, who is the founder and Chief Technology Officer of HubSpot, shared his thoughts in a post on X (formerly Twitter) in March, where he spoke openly about the challenges of managing both work and personal life in the startup world. He acknowledged that maintaining balance is difficult, especially when aiming for high levels of success. "Wanting work-life balance is OK. Wanting to build a breakthrough startup is OK. But you shouldn't expect both," he wrote. 'In 30+ years and knowing hundreds of founders, I've never met a single founder that built a breakthrough startup while maintaining work-life balance. Any competitive human endeavor requires sacrifice to stand-out. Whether it's athletics, arts or entrepreneurship. Raw talent is not enough. You have to toil,' Shah wrote. 'Unhappiness comes from expecting more out of the system than you put in. Either path is totally OK, as long as you understand that you picked a path. Two roads diverged in a wood, and if you take the one most traveled by, don't think that won't make a difference,' Shah said.

Today, the Honourable Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji is providing Rs 20,500 crore to 9.7 crore farmers across the country from Varanasi. In this context, today, more than 34.85 lakh farmers in Odisha are being provided a total of 697 crore rupees," Majhi posted on X. Stating that the Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi or PM Kisan Yojana has been instrumental in making farmers progressive, Majhi said the programme integrates farmers into the mainstream of the economy. Live Events This scheme plays a significant role in the development of farmers and in reducing poverty, the chief minister said. He also said that over 34.85 lakh eligible farmers in Odisha received Rs 2,000 each, and a total of around Rs 697 crore was disbursed into their bank accounts. Asserting that the Odisha government has implemented many schemes for farmers within a year, Majhi said the cultivators are getting the benefits. More than 50 lakh farmers of the state are getting assistance of Rs 4,000 per year under the CM Kisan scheme. "It is a matter of happiness for us that the farmer brothers are getting assistance of Rs 10,000 per year by including PM Kisan and CM Kisan," he pointed out. He said the 20th instalment of PM Kisan Yojana was given for the period from April to July this year. The CM said that the country celebrates PM-Kisan Divas on August 2. Along with this, "PM-Kisan Divas" is also being celebrated in all the districts, blocks and panchayats of the state. On this occasion, awareness is also being created among the farmers about the qualifications required to be included in this scheme, the CM said. Stating that he wants all eligible farmers included in the PM Kisan scheme, Majhi said special programs or saturation drives have been launched in all the blocks of the state. "No eligible farmer should be left out of this scheme. You have now started the Kharif crop. This is an important scheme among the many schemes that the PM has made for you, in which you are getting direct financial assistance," Majhi said. The farmers should accelerate the process of diversification into other crops such as fish cultivation, animal husbandry and others, which will increase their yield and benefit them financially. "Your income in the agriculture sector will not only double but will increase manifold. The Prime Minister's target for this increase will be fulfilled," he said. Apart from this, the chief minister said that under the Samriddha Kisan Yojana , the state government is providing an additional input assistance of Rs 800 per quintal of paddy. Last year, in the Kharif season, the state assisted around Rs 6,000 crore to 17 lakh farmers. Similarly, in the Rabi season, more than Rs 1,600 crore was provided to more than 3 lakh farmers, he said. On this occasion, Deputy Chief Minister KV Singh Deo said as many as 34,85,881 farmers received Rs 697 crore under the PM Kisan scheme. The farmers will buy seeds and fertilisers with the money, he said, adding that the state government is trying to double their income. "We have increased the income of farmers by increasing the purchase price of paddy," the CM added.
