PH Embassy to Pinoys in Israel: Stay at home, follow security advisories
The Philippine Embassy in Israel on Sunday urged Filipinos to remain in their homes and follow security regulations as the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Home Front Command placed the country under essential activity status.
No classes in all educational institutions
Social gatherings are prohibited
Work is canceled except for those in essential services
Under essential activity status, the following are implemented:
'Mariing ipinapayo ng Embahada sa lahat ng Pilipinos sa Israel na manatili sa loob ng kanilang mga tahanan at dapat maging handang pumasok sa shelter, safe room, o mamad sakaling magkaroon ng missile alert,' the embassy said in an advisory.
(The Embassy strongly advises all Filipinos in Israel to remain inside their homes and be prepared to seek a shelter, safe room, or evacuation center should there be a missile alert.)
'Sundan ang mga IDF security guidelines, safety advisories ng Embahada, at balita sa mga mapagkakatiwalaang news outlets,' it added.

The IDF implemented the essential activity status as armed hostilities between Israel and Iran continue.
The status will take effect from June 22 (Sunday) at 3 a.m. until June 23 (Monday) at 8 a.m.

Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Assistant Secretary Robert Ferrer earlier said 223 Filipinos in Israel have requested repatriation, of which 26 are leaving soon.
One Filipino remains in critical condition, while seven have been discharged from the hospital.
The houses of 88 Filipinos have been damaged due to Iranian airstrikes, and 80 have been resettled to safer areas.
On Friday, Crisis Alert Level 3 in Israel and Iran was raised by the Philippine government, urging Filipinos in the area to avail of voluntary repatriation as tensions continue between the two countries. —Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrated News

Manila Rep. Abante seeks creation of 'QuadComm 2.0'
Manila 6th District Representative Bienvenido 'Benny' Abante Jr. on Monday filed a resolution seeking to re-establish the House Quad Committee (QuadComm) to continue tackling 'unresolved' issues such as the extrajudicial killings (EJKs) and offshore gaming hubs in the 20th Congress. 'There is still work that must be done—truths that remain hidden, perpetrators who remain unpunished, and families who still wait for answers,' Abante said in a privilege speech. 'Let us reconvene the QuadComm in the 20th Congress. Let us continue the investigation into the extrajudicial killings that scarred our nation. Let us show the Filipino people that justice does not expire with time, and that this Congress has the courage to finish what it has started,' he added. House Resolution No. 106 seeks the committees on Human Rights, Public Order and Safety, Dangerous Drugs, and Public Accountability to conduct a joint inquiry to address the 'emerging and unresolved' issue raised in the previous Quadcom in the 19th Congress. Abante said the new committee named 'Quad Comm 2.0' would expand the investigation on the problems of 'criminality and criminal syndicates that have flourished across the years, often with the aid and protection of past and incumbent government officials.' An example, Abante said, is the case of the missing sabungeros, or cockfighting enthusiasts, which he noted may be a case of EJKs. 'For seven and a half decades, we have had excellent relations with India. But tomorrow, this relationship is going to receive a major boost, a major upgrade as Prime Minister and I inaugurate a strategic partnership between the Philippines and India,' Marcos said during his meeting with the Filipino community in New Delhi. Marcos said this means that the two nations' cooperation would intensify 'and become even more impactful in many areas that we have not explored with India before.' These include defense, trade and investment, health, tourism, and other areas, Marcos said. Marcos arrived in New Delhi this afternoon for a five-day state visit, which is upon the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Globe reaffirms push for GIDA inclusive development
Telecommunications firm Globe said it will continue to support President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s call to bring inclusive development to Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAs). 'We share the President's vision to create a future where every Filipino can participate in the digital economy,' said Carl Cruz, Globe president and CEO. 'We've seen firsthand how critical it is to connect even the most remote communities. It's not just about putting up cell sites. It's about giving people a fair shot at education, healthcare, safety, and livelihood,' he added. In his fourth State of the Nation Address, President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. spoke of the continued challenges in remote areas where internet access, reliable electricity, and public services remain out of reach. He vowed that that all public schools in the Philippines will have internet access before the end of 2025, as part of his administration's aggressive push to modernize education and bridge the country's digital divide. He said that around 12,000 public schools are still without internet and while free WiFi sites have grown to nearly 19,000 nationwide, it is still far from enough. The President also emphasized the need to strengthen the National Fiber Backbone initiative and provide real access for people in the farthest corners of the country. Various efforts from the telco sector to expand internet availability and affordability are gaining ground as the price of internet services continue to go down on a cost per GB basis and internet access is increasing, However, the country continues to face challenges in access and infrastructure especially in remote areas. 'Clearly there are still gaps that we need to address,' said Cruz. 'User density per site needs to improve so that quality of service will also improve.' Globe pointed out that the sector's ongoing work with the government to roll out the Bayanihan SIM is a clear path to solving portions of the digital divide. 'This is one area where government assistance is put to bear. By working together, we're able to get connectivity tools directly into the hands of those who need them most, especially in public schools and disadvantaged communities,' Cruz said. The Bayanihan SIM initiative, launched in partnership with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), provides SIM cards preloaded with 25GB of free monthly data. With the entire telco industry onboard, the program aims to benefit a million individuals nationwide. Globe's pilot rollout was held at Kalawakan Elementary School in Doña Remedios Trinidad, Bulacan, where students, teachers, and parents in a GIDA community received free SIMs with ready-to-use data. This initiative complements Globe's broader infrastructure efforts to reach more GIDAs and expand access where it's needed most. In 2024, Globe also deployed 51 solar-powered cell sites in off-grid areas where power lines have yet to arrive. These new sites are now delivering mobile service to places that had long been disconnected, supporting daily learning, communication, and access to public services. To accelerate rollout in GIDAs, Globe works closely with local governments to streamline permitting and gain community support. Through its partnership with DICT, the company has also activated free public WiFi in libraries and schools in underserved municipalities. It has also distributed LTE pocket WiFi devices, SIMs with free data, and Globe At Home Prepaid WiFi kits in schools with limited access to digital tools. In addition, its KonekTayo WiFi service brings affordable, load-based internet to low-income households in remote communities. These initiatives align with the government's efforts to modernize education, strengthen disaster preparedness, expand e-governance, and bring digital inclusion to every region.
