Joe Pavelski, Taylor Twellman share lead in American Century celebrity golf tournament
Pavelski, the first-round leader who finished second last year behind former tennis player Mardy Fish, had a 21-point day in the modified Stableford scoring system to match Twellman at 44. Twellman had a 23-point round.

'Obviously, Twellman has been playing great,' Pavelski said. 'To finish birdie, birdie, birdie and be tied with him, I'll take that all day.'
Country star Jake Owen was third at 41 after a 25-point round, and Carolina Panthers receiver Adam Thielen was another point back following a 21-point day. Former LPGA Tour star Annika Sorenstam scored 20 points to reach 37.
Three-time champions Tony Romo (18) and Mark Mulder (21) were at 36 with John Smoltz (19). Stephen Curry, the 2023 champion, had a 14-point round to join Fish (18) at 35.
Charles Barkley lost 16 points to drop from a tie for 24th to a tie for 61st in the 90-player field. He had minus-7 points overall.
Former baseball player Jimmy Rollins had a hole-in-one on the 154-yard, par-3 12th. He won a $325,000 Mastercraft boat.

Max Holloway retains UFC BMF title, spoils Dustin Poirier's retirement fight
NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Max Holloway said he wanted to play spoiler and he did it Saturday night in the main event. Holloway defeated Dustin Poirier in a unanimous decision to retain the UFC BMF Championship in UFC 318 at the Smoothie King Center. The win for Holloway is the first in three fights against Poirier, who beat him in 2012 and 2019. Holloway (28-8) retained his BMF title after landing 98 more strikes (201-109) and landing 53% of his significant strikes. Fighting against a partisan Louisiana crowd for the native son Poirier in his retirement match, Holloway was the quicker fighter for the entire match, knocking Poirier off his feet early in the first round. In the second, another flurry of combinations put Poirier on the mat again, followed by two minutes of dominant grappling. Poirier's best chance came in the last 30 seconds of the second round, getting Holloway on the ground with a chokehold and several ground punches before the round ended. The loss ends a brilliant career for Poirier, who finishes his career with a 30-10 record. Poirier, the UFC Lightweight Interim Champion in 2019, also defeated the likes of Connor McGregor twice in addition to victories over Justin Gaethje and Michael Chandler. In the co-main event, Paulo Costa (15-4) snapped a three-match losing streak, defeating Roman Kopylov for a middleweight division win by a unanimous decision. Daniel Rodriguez (20-5) won his third consecutive fight after a unanimous decision over Kevin Holland in welterweight action in a significant upset. Rodriguez was +425 to win the fight, but beat Holland (28-14), who lost his second fight of 2025. In the featherweight division, Patricio Freire beat Dan Ige by a unanimous decision. Freire (37-8) dominated the three-round fight, taking down Ige five times. The five-fight main card opened with a unanimous decision upset win by Michael Johnson over Daniel Zellhuber in the lightweight action. Johnson opened the fight +475 according to Bet MGM. Young walks it off and Mariners top Astros in 11 innings
SEATTLE (AP) — Rookie second baseman Cole Young hit a walk-off single in the 11th inning to give the Seattle Mariners a 7-6 victory over the Houston Astros on Saturday night. Young — who also delivered a game-ending fielder's choice in the 11th inning of his major league debut — provided some more late-night theatrics in the Emerald City. Just a couple weeks shy of his 22nd birthday, Young went below the zone to drive a splitter from reliever Hector Neris (3-2) into right field, scoring automatic runner Dominic Canzone from third base. Though the Mariners jumped out to a 4-1 lead after just three innings, their advantage disappeared once Seattle reliever Carlos Vargas lost control of his sinker in the sixth. He plunked two batters, first Brice Matthews and then Zack Short, which led to warnings being issued to both benches. Jose Altuve, Victor Caratini and Christian Walker all added RBI singles shortly afterward to put the Astros up 5-4. The Mariners evened it in the eighth thanks to a fortuitous bounce. Astros reliever Bryan Abreu spiked a slider, allowing Randy Arozarena to score with ease from third base on the wild pitch and ultimately force extra innings. The teams traded runs in the 10th before Eduard Bazardo (4-0) tossed a scoreless inning to set the stage for Young.
