Hapless VRAs, VROs wait for GPO appointment orders
Around 3,550 Village Revenue Officers (VROs) and Village Revenue Assistants (VRAs) who passed the eligibility and screening exam for the Grama Palana Officer (GPO) positions throughout the State are currently waiting for postings, putting them in a catch-22 scenario.
Notably, the former BRS administration reorganised the VRA and VRO systems and reassigned competent individuals to various positions in other agencies.
After the Telangana Rights in Land and Pattadar Pass Books Act, 2020 was replaced by the Bhu Bharati (Record of Rights in Land) Act 2024, the Congress government made the decision to designate up to 10, 954 GPOs, one for each revenue village.
In addition to VRAs who were regularized and integrated into regular positions in the cadre of junior assistants/record assistants based on their credentials, the district collectors were urged to solicit options from competent VROs who were assigned to other departments to serve as GPOs.
On April 1, a notification was sent out after the interested VROs and VRAs submitted their options. On May 25, the test was administered; on May 30, the results were made public, and on June 2, the appointment orders were scheduled to be issued. Out of the 5, 060 applicants, 3,550 individuals passed the test.
Even after a month had gone by, appointment orders had not yet been issued, despite the fact that the test and results announcement processes had been finished quickly.
As a result, the competent applicants were forced to wait for the postings in the offices.
A competent applicant told The Hans India that many of the VRAs were assigned to ordinary promotion posts in other districts as part of the randomization procedure. For example, a large number of people from the Sangareddy area were assigned to the former Khammam.
They were excited to visit their home districts, for which they had submitted options, after passing the GPO exam. However, he stated that they were troubled by the delay in issuing the appointment orders.
A few days ago, the VRA JAC leaders met with CCLA Lokesh Kumar DS in an attempt to issue appointment orders to the eligible applicants. But as of yet, the administration has not responded.
He clarified that because the new academic year had already begun, the government ought to announce openings right away so that the applicants may move and apply for their kids' admission to schools.

, The Congress on Monday (July 28, 2025) claimed that the net foreign direct investment has fallen steeply while domestic investors are gripped by 'fear and uncertainty', as it asked the government to support incomes, end its 'crony capitalist and tax terrorism' policies, fix the GST, and protect Indian industries from Chinese dumping. The opposition party's assertion came after Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's reported remarks that India's private sector investment has not kept pace with the growing public expenditure. He further said that net FDI has fallen steeply while domestic investors are gripped by 'fear and uncertainty' – thanks in large measure to 'tax terrorism and policies that only favour a couple of business groups'. 'The growth of mass markets for consumption goods is being hampered by a decade-long stagnant wages crisis and a flawed GST, which awaits fundamental reform,' Mr. Ramesh argued. 'Finally, the 'dumping' of cheap imports from China – which is taking place despite the loss of Indian territory in Ladakh – has also led to the closure of domestic manufacturing units, foreclosing the possibility of new investments,' he said. 'Acknowledgment is the first step. Now comes the hard part – the government needs to take action to support incomes, put an end to its crony capitalist and tax terrorism policies, fix the GST, and protect our industries from Chinese dumping,' Mr. Ramesh said. The Congress has been attacking the government over its handling of the economy, claiming the issues of rising prices, decreasing private investment, and stagnating wages were hitting the common people hard.

Congress' Gaurav Gogoi tears into govt, asks ‘after Uri, Pahalgam, why was war not our intention?'
Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi on Monday slammed the central government during a debate session on Operation Sindoor in the Parliament. Shortly after Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh wrapped up the government's arguments defending the Operation, the Opposition took over the discussion and raised questions over the same. "Rajnath Singh is talking about ghus ke marenge (will hit in your country); this was the same thing they said when Pulwama happened. Rajnath Singh says we dismantled terror infrastructure after Pulwama, Uri. Then how did the terrorists come in Baisaran?" Gogoi asked. 'Even today Rajnath Singh is saying Operation Sindoor has only paused and not stopped. He says if Pakistan attacks again, we will respond. On one hand, they say terror infrastructure has been dismantled and on the other hand, they say terror attack can happen again,' he added. 'Rajnath Singh says the government's intention was not to start a war. I ask, why? Why was war not our intention?' the Congress MP asked. Raising more questions over the government's response to the recurring terrorist attacks in India, Gogoi said, 'Rajnath Singh ji gave a lot of information, but as the Defence Minister, he never mentioned how terrorists from Pakistan reached Pahalgam and killed 26 people. It is our duty to ask these questions in the interest of the nation.' Hitting out the government even further, Gogoi even raised questions on why the five terrorists responsible for the Pahalgam attack had not been caught yet. 'It has been 100 days since the Pahalgam attack took place, but this government has not been able to catch those five terrorists. Today, you have dones, Pegasus, satellites, CRPF, BSF, CISF, and the Defence Minister went there a few days ago, but still you are not able to catch them,' Gogoi said. Gogoi recounted the Pahalgam attack on April 22, when terrorists opened indiscriminate fire at tourists in the Baisaran valley, killing 26 civilians. 'It took almost one hour for an ambulance to reach Baisaran. The Army came on foot. I cannot forget those visuals when a mother and her daughter saw an Indian soldier; they started crying. They thought the terrorist wearing the uniform of a soldier who killed people in Baisaran was waiting for them. That soldier had to say that he was an Indian, and you were safe... This is the kind of terror the people had there. Rajnath Ji, you should have spoken one word on this terror..' the Congress MP added. India paused its action – Operation Sindoor – against terror infrastructure in Pakistan because the predicted political and military objectives were achieved, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh told the Parliament on Monday. Defending Operation Sindoor, the defence minister said, 'Saying that this operation was paused under any pressure is baseless and absolutely wrong... In my political life, I have always tried not to speak lies ever...' Rajnath Singh further said that Pakistan admitted defeat and offered to cease hostilities after India launched its Operation Sindoor on May 10, under which the Indian Air Force had struck hard at multiple airfields in Pakistan.
