Iskcon Rath Yatra allowed in Anantapur with riders
Since Muharram also falls on the same day, the court directed Iskcon representatives to strictly adhere to the conditions laid down by police to avoid any disruption to public peace.
The division bench comprising Chief Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur and Justice Cheemalapati Ravi, issued orders noting that the matter pertains to sensitive law and order issue. Earlier, a single-judge bench had allowed Iskcon to conduct the Rath Yatra, but the police challenged that order through an appeal, citing concern over potential law and order problem as Muharram procession and Rath Yatra take place on the same route.
The police informed the court that preparations for the Muharram procession would begin around 2.30 pm, and suggested that Rath Yatra be conducted between 10 am and 1 pm. However, Iskcon representatives stated that they planned to start Rath Yatra at 1 pm and cross the Old City by 2 pm.
Taking note of the sensitive nature of the situation, the High Court said both events should take place under strict adherence to the conditions set by the police to ensure law and order.

Seer accuses Minister of demanding commission for releasing temple grant
Seer accuses Minister of demanding commission for releasing temple grant a serious allegation that could embarrass the state government, Sri Poornanandapuri Swamiji of the Shrikhetra Taileshwara Ganiga Mahasansthana Mutt in Nelamangala has accused Karnataka minister Shivaraj Tangadagi of demanding a 25 percent commission to release a government grant sanctioned for temple renovation. According to Swamiji, a grant of Rs 3.5 crore has already been approved for the mutt's renovation works. However, the seer alleged that Minister Tangadagi asked for a commission to release the funds. The seer has now written a letter to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah urging him to remove Shivaraj Tangadagi from the cabinet for his alleged corrupt practices. In his letter addressed to the Chief Minister, Swamiji expressed gratitude to Siddaramaiah for generously sanctioning grants for the development of various backward community institutions across Karnataka. However, he accused the minister of misusing the system by flouting norms and manipulating the distribution of grants without any transparency. 'The files related to grants, which are legally approved by you (CM), the finance department, and the secretary of the backward classes welfare department, are being withheld by the minister. He decides who should receive the grants at his own discretion and distributes them through his close associates, enabling corruption. There are also widespread reports that his relatives are operating this corruption network,' Swamiji wrote in the letter. The seer further said that lack of transparency and selective favoritism in grant allocation itself is clear evidence of corruption. 'We were forced to approach the High Court to get justice for the injustice done to our institution,' he added. Highlighting his long association with the Congress party, Poornanandapuri Swamiji reminded Siddaramaiah that he had served as an MLA and as state president of the backward communities' organization back in 1992, along with holding various posts for 35 years. 'Out of loyalty to the party, we did not want to embarrass the government and had already written to the minister on January 20, 2025, informing him about our intention to approach the court if the injustice continued,' the letter stated. Swamiji claimed that he had already brought the issue of alleged irregularities within the backward classes welfare department to the Chief Minister's notice. He requested that the CM take immediate action by removing Shivaraj Tangadagi from the cabinet to prevent further corruption. Issuing a stern warning in his letter, Swamiji said, 'If no action is taken within the next 10 days, we will be forced to initiate legal proceedings under the anti-corruption law against the minister. This is a matter of public trust, and we hope you will take suitable action to protect the dignity of the government.' The allegations have come at a time when the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government is facing increased pressure to maintain clean governance. Minister Shivaraj Tangadagi has yet to issue a statement in response to these serious allegations.

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei Makes First Public Appearance Since Israel War
Last Updated: State television footage showed Khamenei greeting worshippers at the Imam Khomeini Mosque in central Tehran during a ceremony held on the eve of Ashura Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has made his first public appearance since the onset of his country's conflict with Israel, as reported by state media. This notable emergence on Saturday, July 5, marks a return to public visibility for the 86-year-old leader, whose absence had been observed amid increasing regional tensions. State television footage showed Khamenei greeting worshippers at the Imam Khomeini Mosque in central Tehran during a ceremony held on the eve of Ashura, a deeply significant Shia festival. Khamenei was shown on stage, dressed in black, while the crowd, with raised fists, chanted slogans such as 'The blood in our veins for our leader!" The moment when the Leader of the Islamic Revolution entered the Imam Khomeini Hussainiyah to attend the fourth night of mourning ceremonies on eve of Ashura, July 5, 2025. — Khamenei Media (@Khamenei_m) July 5, 2025 Having been in power since 1989 and possessing the final say on all state matters, Khamenei had not been seen in public since before Israel launched a series of unexpected air strikes on June 13. His last recorded public engagement before the conflict was a meeting with parliament members two days prior to the Israeli strikes. Although he had released a pre-recorded video statement last week, in which he claimed Tehran had delivered a 'slap to America's face" by striking a US airbase in Qatar and warned against further attacks, this was his first live public appearance since the 12-day conflict began. The timing of his reappearance is particularly symbolic, coinciding with the solemn observances of Muharram and the eve of Ashura. Ashura, observed on the 10th day of the Islamic month of Muharram (falling on Sunday, July 6), commemorates the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, a revered figure in Shia Islam. This period is characterised by deep mourning, religious ceremonies, and public processions, making it a crucial time for religious and political messaging in Iran.
