Rupali Ganguly slams Diljit Dosanjh, praises Border 2 makers for dropping him
Singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh has been facing backlash for casting Pakistani actor Hania Aamir in 'Sardaar Ji 3', sparking criticism amid ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan. Now, actor Rupali Ganguly has also weighed in on the controversy surrounding 'Border 2'. She indirectly criticised Diljit for 'failing to recognise his responsibilities towards the country' and praised the film's team for allegedly removing him, although no such move has been officially confirmed.advertisementRupali wrote on X, 'Border was a film that evoked deep patriotism among the people of our nation. It's truly disheartening and frustrating to see an actor in #Border2 who fails to recognise his responsibilities towards the country.' She further tweeted, 'Kudos to the makers for showing clarity and conviction by dropping that actor from film. A film that celebrates our soldiers and national pride must reflect that spirit in every aspect. No room for confused loyalties in a film about national pride.'
While multiple reports claimed that Diljit might be replaced by singer-actor Ammy Virk, a source close to the production team told Hindustan Times, 'There is no plan to replace or remove Diljit from 'Border 2'. His casting was confirmed nearly nine months ago, long before the recent unfortunate incidents. Nearly half the film has already been shot, and any replacement at this stage would be logistically unfeasible."
Directed by Anurag Singh, 'Border 2' is the highly anticipated sequel to the 1997 patriotic blockbuster. It is backed by producers Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta. The film features Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Ahan Shetty, and Diljit Dosanjh, who joined the project in September 2023.- EndsMust Watch
