The Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal will remain on the F1 calendar until 2035 after a four-year extension.
The Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal will remain on the calendar until 2035 after securing a four-year extension to the existing deal, Formula One announced on Tuesday.
The contract renewal also includes a long-term extension to Bell Media's media rights agreement, according to the Liberty Media-owned sport.
Last weekend's grand prix at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve marked the 54th edition since the race first appeared in the championship in 1967.
Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve, named after the legendary Canadian F1 driver, has been the permanent host since 1978 and is a favourite among drivers and fans. It is known for its heavy-braking chicanes, the famous hairpin, and the iconic Wall of Champions at the end of the lap.
'I would like to thank the promoter, Octane Racing Group, for their continued efforts in upgrading this iconic venue in recent years, and all local, regional, and national political stakeholders who have worked closely together to make this event what it is today," said F1 chief executive Stefano Domenicali.
Four current drivers – George Russell, Max Verstappen, Lewis Hamilton, and Fernando Alonso – have all claimed victory at the 4.36 km circuit. Hamilton shares the record for most wins at the venue with Michael Schumacher, both having triumphed seven times.
Next year's race will be held earlier than usual, on May 24, after switching places with Monaco to align more closely with Miami.

'The loser has to wear a speedo and get waxed': Jason Kelce lost a weight loss competition bet to Beau Allen and had to get a bikini wax and wear a speedo as punishment

(Image via Getty Images: Jason Kelce) Jason Kelce and his fellow Philadelphia Eagles player, Beau Allen, have been in a weight loss competition for the past three months. Allen lost 2% body fat and gained 4 pounds of muscle, taking his total to eight points. Jason lost 3% body fat but gained no muscle. So, Kelce turned out to be the loser. And the loser had to wear a speedo. The wax part was not a part of the bet. But that's just how the Kelce brothers are. They love to challenge a punishment! And that's what he did. He added a zing flavor to wearing a speedo. What was the flavor? It was to get a bikini wax! Curious to know a little bit more about his experience as a first-timer at the European Wax? Read on. Tight End U Surprises, Speedos at the Shore & Brad Pitt on F1, Chiefs Dynasty and More | Ep 146 Beau Allen lost 2% body fat and gained 4 pounds of muscle, and Jason Kelce lost 3% body fat but gained no muscle, so Kelce had to wear a speedo and get a bikini wax Before we jump to the bikini wax moment, let's start from the very start. On the New Heights podcast, Jason Kelce talks about the bet with Beau Allen with his co-host and younger brother, Travis Kelce - right from the points secured to how he turned out to be the loser. 'I think everybody saw the viral moment with the speedo. So, Beau Allen and I have been in a weight loss competition for the last three months. The bet was that you get two points for every percentage body fat loss, and you get one point for every pound of muscle gained. Beau Allen, in three months, lost 2% body fat and gained four pounds of muscle. I'm rounding for the sake of argument, so he was roughly close to eight points. I lost about 3% body fat but gained no muscle. I was really over 2.5% body fat, but I gained no muscle. It pretty much stayed flat. So, I lost. Over the course of this whole thing. I ended up losing close to 3% body fat, and I actually lost over nine or ten pounds of fat. So, ultimately, we're both winners in my book, but I definitely was the loser of the bet. So, I had to wear a speedo.' Now comes the interesting bit. 'I mean, it wasn't fun - it's probably not a thing that I'm going to redo,' Jason Kelce talks about getting a bikini wax Jason Kelce discusses how he reformed the punishment. Said it wasn't just about wearing a speedo, but it was also about getting a bikini wax! 'The bet was that the loser has to wear a speedo at this Ocean Drive event. And, those of you who remember, I didn't think that was enough. Smart by me. So, we talked about adding something else to it. And by far the most asked thing from our fans was that Jason also get waxed, or the loser has to also get waxed. So, the bet ended up being that the loser has to wear a speedo and get waxed. I did a bikini wax. Thank God I did because this thing would have looked so much worse if I wasn't waxed. I mean, it would have been even more gross.' Travis Kelce enquired: 'How was that?' Jason replied innocently. 'I mean, it wasn't fun. I'll shout them out, the people at the European Wax down in Philadelphia, did a great job, and they made it as comfortable as they could. I had a great technician. I'm not gonna lie - I understand why women do it and why men do it. It's probably not a thing that I'm going to redo.' Jason said the technicians wanted him to get a Brazilian bikini wax! 'They tried to talk me into a Brazilian. You know what a Brazilian is? That's the bikini plus the butt. They do the little butt strip. I was like, ah, you know. They said the butt's actually not as painful. I don't know what that is. I don't like anything in that crease. Nothing's been on that crease other than my own hand. The crease? That's a no-fly zone for me. And Kylie's response? That's the one you could have used.' F1: Brown rejects ‘two-horse race' assessment, expects Verstappen move

McLaren boss Zak Brown dismissed suggestions the Formula One title was a two-horse race between his drivers and said Red Bull's Max Verstappen remained a contender for a fifth championship in a row and was also likely to join Mercedes. McLaren's Oscar Piastri leads teammate Lando Norris by 15 points, with Verstappen now 61 points behind the Australian after 11 of 24 races. Red Bull boss Christian Horner said in Austria at the weekend, after Verstappen was shunted out on the opening lap, that the battle was effectively over before the mid-point of the season. 'It looks very much like a two-horse race. They (McLaren) have got a cushion to the rest of the field,' Horner told reporters. But Brown told Reuters at an event for McLaren fans in London's Trafalgar Square that it was far too early to say that. 'I think it's a four maybe even a five (horse race),' said the American. 'We're in a great position, but we know how quickly things can change in Formula One. Max isn't that far behind, and he's that awesome, and then George (Russell) isn't far behind him, and you can definitely see Mercedes is getting tougher and tougher and are not far away. 'And nor is Ferrari so I think (Charles) Leclerc, Max and George, it's way too early to not have them in the race. 'Maybe ask me that question in another five races, and I'll answer it differently. But right now, I see those five all in contention for the championship.' RELATED | Missing the driver's championship title would be no failure, says Norris Verstappen has been linked repeatedly with Mercedes, who have acknowledged talks with the Dutch driver about a future switch, with 2027 looking more likely. Brown has said before that he expected Verstappen to join Mercedes eventually and he stood by that. 'There's a lot of noise. I'm a believer of where there's smoke there's fire. No one's kind of denying anything, no one's making firm 'I'm gonna be in this car next year',' he explained. 'So in my experience and reading the tea leaves I feel like something's going on, maybe something's even already done ... it's what makes Formula One fun -- there's always some storyline for everyone to follow, so I think I stand by my prediction.'

Claire Hutton scores first international goal to help the United States beat Canada 3-0

Claire Hutton scored for the first time in her international career, and Sam Coffey and Yazmeen Ryan also contributed goals to lead the United States to a 3-0 win over Canada on Wednesday night. The Americans have won five straight friendlies by a combined score of 18-0 since their 2-1 loss to Brazil in early April. The 19-year-old Hutton was making her sixth appearance for the national team, and her goal in the 36th minute gave the U.S. a 2-0 lead. Ryan completed the scoring in the 89th minute. It was the third game in seven days for the U.S., which beat Ireland 4-0 in each of the other two. Coach Emma Hayes' starting lineup against Canada included 10 changes from the second game against Ireland. Lynn Biyendolo, the lone player to start both of those games, slipped behind the defense for an early chance but missed the net. Moments later, she had a header saved by Canadian goalie Kailen Sheridan. The U.S. opened the scoring in the 17th minute when Rose Lavelle delivered a free kick into the penalty area from near the left sideline. Canada's Janine Sonis tried to head clear, but the ball fell to Avery Patterson and then bounced to Coffey about 9 yards from the goal. Both Coffey and Patterson stabbed at the ball, and both appeared to make contact with it. It went straight into the net. Coffey was credited with the goal and Patterson with an assist. Claudia Dickey, who also shut out Ireland in her international debut last Thursday, stopped a shot from in close by Canada's Jordyn Huitema shortly after Coffey's goal. But the Americans created far more chances. Lavelle received a standing ovation when she was subbed out around the midway point of the second half. The crowd also gave a big cheer when Tara McKeown — who plays locally for the Washington Spirit — came on as a late sub for the U.S. McKeown assisted on Ryan's goal. The U.S. plays friendlies against South Korea on September 6 in Harrison, New Jersey, and against Japan on September 9 in Columbus, Ohio.
