ICONSIAM in Collaboration with Shanghai Yuyuan Tourist Mart Group Brings China's Most Iconic Lantern Festival to Thailand for the First Time

'Yuyuan Lantern Festival 2025' Lights Up Bangkok to Celebrate 50 Years of Thai–Chinese Diplomatic Ties BANGKOK, THAILAND – Media OutReach Newswire – 1 July 2025 – ICONSIAM, the global landmark along the Chao Phraya River, joins hands with Shanghai Yuyuan Tourist Mart Group, the legendary host of China's most prestigious lantern festival to present the first-ever Yuyuan Lantern Festival in Thailand. Titled 'Spirit of Mountains and Seas · Yuyuan Lantern Festival and 2025 China–Thailand Culture Month,' this spectacular event transforms the banks of the Chao Phraya River into a mythical realm of lights and stories. Held from now until 15 August 2025, the festival runs daily from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM at River Park, G Floor, ICONSIAM, and is open to the public free of charge. This marks the first time the renowned Yuyuan Lantern Festival from Shanghai is being held in Thailand. More than a cultural event, it symbolizes the strong bond between Thailand and China and highlights the power of cultural arts to bridge nations and bring people of different backgrounds closer together. It also reinforces ICONSIAM's commitment to its role as a Global Experiential Destination, striving to become a central hub for international artistic collaboration and cultural exchange, offering world-class cultural experiences to every visitor. ADVERTISEMENT With a history spanning over 100 years, the Yuyuan Lantern Festival is a crown jewel of China's intangible cultural heritage. Its arrival in Thailand for the first time commemorates the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The festival is themed 'Spirit of Mountains and Seas', drawing inspiration from the ancient Chinese text Shan Hai Jing ('Classic of Mountains and Seas') and blending it with the concept of a 'Chao Phraya Island'—a magical realm along the river designed to resemble a floating island adorned with contemporary lanterns. These lanterns incorporate light, shadow, and interactive technology, with each installation appearing as a mystical island inhabited by fantastical creatures from the classic novel, celebrating the deep-rooted friendship between Thailand and China in a spectacular and imaginative way. Beyond the breathtaking lantern installations, visitors can enjoy a rich program of cultural activities including traditional performances, a local products market, themed cultural weeks, and an art exhibition. These activities encourage cross-cultural exchange in art, culture, cuisine, and business between the two nations—illuminated under the glow of lanterns that symbolize the light of Thai–Chinese friendship shining brightly for the world to see. The 'Spirit of Mountains and Seas · Yuyuan Lantern Festival and 2025 China–Thailand Culture Month' is open to the public free of charge. The festival runs until 15 August 2025, daily from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM, at River Park, G Floor, ICONSIAM. The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2026 dates have just been announced

Yas Marina will once again bring the curtain down on the Formula 1 season – but before the bubbly sprays start in Abu Dhabi, the 2026 schedule has been officially locked in. Formula 1 and the FIA have confirmed the official dates for pre-season testing ahead of the 2026 championship. Before the action arrives at Yas Marina, testing will get underway in Spain and Bahrain. First up is a private test at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya from January 26 to 30, followed by two official sessions in Bahrain – February 11 to 13 and February 18 to 20. Bahrain will get an early taste of the season, but make no mistake – all roads still lead to Abu Dhabi for the grand finale. Next year, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is scheduled for December 4 to 6 – the final race of the 2026 season and, as always, one of the most glamorous and high-profile events in the F1 calendar. Expect the biggest names in motorsport, major musical acts and an electric atmosphere that transforms Yas Island into the centre of the racing world. Elsewhere on the calendar, there's been one notable date change: the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, originally set for Sunday September 27, will now be held on Saturday September 26. The switch comes at the request of local organisers to accommodate a national day, with the entire race weekend moving forward by one day. The full 2026 F1 season kicks off in Australia from March 6 to 8. From there, it spans five continents before making its final stop – where else? – right here in Abu Dhabi. Viu launches Arabic reality special ‘The Big Bang Birthday' featuring Arab creators

Directed by Farah Alameh, a Lebanese independent filmmaker and lecturer at Lebanese University, the special combines a clear visual identity with narrative sensitivity. Viu, the pan-regional OTT video platform from PCCW, has premiered its latest Arabic reality original, The Big Bang Birthday, following the success of last year's We Wed. The new special debuted exclusively on Viu on 23 June, offering viewers an intimate glimpse into contemporary Arab identity, friendship and self-expression in Abu Dhabi. The show follows four popular creators as they secretly plan a birthday celebration for Egyptian digital star Hadeel Marei, whose bold humour and expressive style have earned her more than 2m Instagram followers. The group includes Amy Roko, a Saudi creator recognised for her anonymity and sharp social commentary; Dana Halabi, a Syrian lifestyle influencer in Dubai known for her warmth and insight; Jara, Saudi Arabia's first female rapper; and Yussra Youssif, a Sudanese beauty and fashion figure admired for her striking looks. As the friends orchestrate the surprise, viewers see their authentic personalities emerge against the backdrop of Abu Dhabi's landmarks, from Ferrari World and teamLab Phenomena to the Souk and Mangrove National Park. What starts as a simple party evolves into a thoughtful exploration of connection and identity, culminating in a heartfelt moment when Hadeel receives her unexpected gift. Samer Majzoub, General Manager of Viu MENA, said: 'The Big Bang Birthday exemplifies Viu's commitment to Arabic original productions and locally rooted storytelling that bridges entertainment and cultural insight. The authentic emotion and relatable production style of this female-led production connect us to the cultural heartbeat of Saudi Arabia, UAE and the rest of the Arab region.' Directed by Lebanese filmmaker and lecturer Farah Alameh, The Big Bang Birthday combines polished visuals with documentary realism, capturing the cast's relationships with sincerity. A private screening was held on 22 June at Vox Cinemas in Yas Mall, Abu Dhabi, ahead of the public premiere on Viu for mobile and connected TV audiences.
