Inspire Early Learning to stop male staff changing nappies in wake of shocking child abuse allegations in Victoria
Inspire Early Learning – which operates 16 childcare centres in the state – sent a letter to parents on Friday announcing the changes, as per 7News.
Chief curriculum and quality officer Eleinna Anderson told families the changes were to ensure they remained 'sensitive and responsive to family needs', and that male staff would still play a 'vital role' in activities and classroom preparation among other duties.
'The wellbeing and safety of your children are at the heart of everything we do,' she said.
'We're writing to share a few important updates to our guidelines around staff interactions with children and team responsibilities – changes made with careful thought and a continued commitment to maintaining a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all.'
It has been reported educators have also been told to refrain from kissing or having other unnecessary contact with children, and to seek consent if holding hands or a gentle hug is needed.
It comes after childcare worker Joshua Brown was charged with more than 70 offences, after he allegedly abused eight children at a childcare centre in Point Cook, Melbourne.
It is alleged some children were as young as five months.
The families of 1200 children have been directed to have their children tested for sexually transmitted infections.
Police confirmed they are investigating Mr Brown's employment at 20 Melbourne childcare centres and had a suppression order on his name removed to inform families with children at the affected centres to get tested.
Inspire Early Learning is not among the centres Mr Brown is said to have worked at.
The allegations against Mr Brown sparked an immediate reaction from authorities and advocates around the country.
Child abuse victims' advocate Louise Edmonds, a founding member of the independent Collective of Survivors, was among the most prominent voices calling for men to be banned from working at childcare centres.
'This is the third case of huge amounts of children being exposed to alleged pedophiles and alleged child sex abuses in a childcare centre,' she said on Today.
'We actually have to look at the safety first and foremost of our most vulnerable citizens, which are our children, and a lot of them are voiceless.
'So children start communicating well at around two years old. The children under two years old, they cannot speak.
'The sad reality is there's so much lived experience and evidence and data around child sex offenders, and 97 per cent of them are male.
'And this is a scary topic and a lot of people, we don't want to talk about it because it's so horrific when it comes to the abuse of children.'
Politicians have vowed to introduce new laws to strengthen working with children checks, that were recommended a decade ago during the 2015 Royal Commission into Institutionalised Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.
Federal Education Minister Jason Clare said he would introduce legislation to allow fraud investigators to conduct random, unannounced visits at childcare centres without a warrant, and without the need to be accompanied by police.
He would also introduce laws to allow the federal government, which currently provides $16bn of annual funding to centres, to scrap payments to places which do not meet standards.
State and federal ministers will discuss how CCTV cameras can be used to monitor childcare centres and Attorneys-General will work out better ways to share information.

Four women charged for allegedly smuggling spicy cocaine into Brisbane
Four women, including two teenagers, have been charged with allegedly attempting to smuggle 30kg spicy-soaked cocaine into Brisbane. Two 18-year-old Australian girls flew from Hong Kong to Brisbane on July 3 when they were stopped by Australian Border Force (ABF) officers. After examining their four suitcases, officers discovered 30 bricks wrapped in towels, which had been soaked in vinegar and chilli. The ABF alleged the bricks contained white substance, which returned a positive result for cocaine. Police also located and arrested two people in Australia, who they allege provided instructions relating to obtaining passports, airline tickets and accommodation. Two 18-year-old women were charged with one count of importing a commercial quantity of a border-controlled substance. The other women, aged 23 and 21, were charged with one count of attempting to possess a commercial quantity of a border controlled drug. Both offences carry a maximum penalty of life imprisonment. All four women appeared before Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday July 4. An 18-year-old girl was refused bail and will return to court on July 17. The other three women were granted conditional bail and will return to court on July 18. ABF Acting Commander Troy Sokoloff said there was no clever way to try and smuggle drugs into the country. 'Working in close partnership with law enforcement partners, the ABF uses world-leading technology, intelligence-led targeting, and the sharp instincts of our well-trained frontline officers to stay one step ahead of criminal syndicates, no matter how clever they think they are,' he said. 'Whether it's a few grams of cocaine in an envelope, or 30 kilograms in a suitcase, the ABF's expertise prevents these harmful substances from making their way into the Australian community, where they can and do cause significant harm.'

CCTV footage captures brazen breakfast bandit snatching DoorDash delivery from Prahran doorstep
A cheeky breakfast bandit has been caught on CCTV footage sneaking into the front gate of a property in inner Melbourne to swipe a DoorDash delivery. A young woman in leafy Prahran contacted the Herald Sun after realising her $13.50 smoothie had been poached from the door step. The woman had received a notification that her order had been dropped off — but then before she made it to the door, her CCTV cameras alerted her that another person had made their way through the gate of her yard. Footage revealed a brazen bandit who looked to be passing by before spotting the brown bag and sneaking in to pinch it before scuttling back onto the street. His dog follows, confused close behind. 'It was only out there for three minutes,' the woman who ordered the smoothie said. 'I'm not mad, just hungry.' Finding all but an empty doorstep, the woman could only hope the smoothie snatcher was lactose intolerant. The woman has contacted police to report the alleged offender.

Two bodies found in unit on Kingsford Smith Pde, Maroochydore
Two men have been found dead inside a unit on the Sunshine Coast, with police appealing to the public for assistance in their investigation. Emergency services were called to the Kingsford Smith Parade housing complex in Maroochydore at about 11.20am on Friday, after concerns were raised for their welfare. Officers located the bodies of two men inside. It is understood the 65-year-old Maroochydore man lived at the property, and the 56-year-old man from Mountain Creek was a regular visitor. The unit has been declared a crime scene. Forensic officers and detectives remained at the complex on Saturday morning as investigations into the circumstances of the deaths continued. The exact cause of death is unknown, and police believe there is no ongoing threat to the public. Authorities are now urging anyone with information or relevant CCTV or dashcam footage from the area around the time of the incident to come forward to assist with the investigation. Jacob Arthur Amos told the Sunshine Coast Daily he had tried to check in on his 'good mate' on Saturday morning. 'He wasn't answering his door, and now we know why,' he said.
