SAP opens new campus in Bengaluru, its second-largest R&D hub outside Germany
SAP opened its new campus in Bengaluru on Tuesday, marking it as the company's second-largest R&D hub outside its headquarters in Germany. The India Innovation Park, as it is called, is located in Devanahalli, in the northern part of the city, close to Bengaluru's international airport. The 41-acre campus will be developed in multiple phases. Currently, 27 acres have been built and are operational. Once the entire facility is complete, it will have the capacity to accommodate up to 14,000 people. At present, 3,200 SAP employees have already moved in, and an additional 4,500 employees are expected to relocate during the first phase. The phase two of the campus has already been approved, and construction will begin soon, with a targeted completion by the Q2 or Q3 of 2028. The total cost of building the campus exceeds 194 million euros. This is SAP's second campus in Bengaluru, with the first located in the Whitefield area of the city. 'The [Innovation Park] is designed to bring together our customers, partners, academia, startups, and communities. For us, this is the beating heart of co-innovation,' said Sindhu Gangadharan, MD of SAP Labs India and Head of Customer Innovation Services at SAP, while addressing hundreds of employees, partners, and government representatives at the inauguration. Software maker SAP is the latest major tech company to expand in India and increase its footprint in Bengaluru, now the world's fourth-largest tech cluster after Silicon Valley, Boston, and London. Earlier this year, Google opened its new campus in Bengaluru, while Microsoft is setting up its largest R&D center in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. More and more tech companies are expanding their presence in India by setting up either Research & Development centers or Global Capability Centers (GCCs). Once considered low-cost outsourcing hubs for global firms, these GCCs centers have evolved significantly over the past few years by supporting their parent organisations by handling a wide range of business functions and specialising in areas such as IT, automation, and manufacturing. Bengaluru is home to 875 GCCs and accounts for 34 per cent of India's GCC workforce. According to a report by IT industry body Nasscom and consulting firm Zinnov, released late last year, the market size of India's GCC sector is expected to grow from $64.6 billion in fiscal 2024 to between $99 billion and $105 billion by 2030. In March, SAP became Europe's most valuable listed company, overtaking French luxury group LVMH and Ozempic-maker Novo Nordisk in market capitalisation, after pivoting its business toward cloud computing and seizing opportunities in artificial intelligence. SAP generates the majority of its revenue from cloud services and is focused on leveraging AI to drive efficiencies for businesses. The company offers enterprise products across cloud solutions, expense management, supply chain management, and analytics. SAP's products are used by over 440,000 customers worldwide, including 98 of the world's 100 largest companies. Taken altogether, its client base generates over 80 per cent of global commerce, according to the company. SAP has over 17,000 employees spread across Bengaluru, Pune, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Delhi in India. The 53-year-old German tech giant has over 40 per cent of its global R&D workforce in India.

Indian markets end lower amid trade tensions and regulatory concerns
CHENNAI: Indian equity benchmarks closed lower on Tuesday as investor sentiment weakened due to renewed trade tensions with the US and concerns over proposed domestic regulatory changes. Both the Sensex and Nifty50 extended losses into the afternoon, reversing brief gains in early trade. The BSE Sensex ended down 308.47 points or 0.38%, closing at 80,710.25. The NSE Nifty50 declined 73.20 points or 0.30% to settle at 24,649.55, falling below the key 24,700 mark. Selling was seen across key sectors, with banking, IT, oil & gas, FMCG, and pharma each losing around 0.5%. However, the auto sector provided some support with a 0.5% gain. The Bank Nifty index dropped by 0.47% to close near 55,360, led lower by HDFC Bank, PNB, AU Small Finance Bank, and ICICI Bank. IndusInd Bank defied the broader trend, rising nearly 1.7%. Investor mood was dampened by US President Donald Trump's latest comments threatening higher tariffs on Indian goods in response to India's continued purchase of Russian oil. India rejected the U.S. move as 'unjustified and unreasonable.' According to Fitch Ratings, the effective U.S. tariff rate on Indian exports has jumped to 20.7% in 2025 from just 2.4% in 2024, further clouding the economic outlook.

LIC Housing posts weak Q1 results; JM Financial, MOFSL share stock strategy
LIC Housing Finance share price today: Shares of LIC Housing Finance are in focus after the company reported its June 2025 quarter (Q1FY26) results. The stock fell nearly 3 per cent on Tuesday, on the NSE, to touch an intraday low of ₹575.2. At 1 PM, LIC Housing Finance was trading 2.04 per cent lower at ₹579 on the NSE. In comparison, the NSE Nifty50 was trading 0.34 per cent lower at ₹24,638.55. The stock has crashed around 20 per cent from its 52-week high of ₹35.55 touched on September 16, 2024. LIC Housing Finance Q1 results In the June 2025 quarter, LIC Housing Finance posted revenue from operations of ₹7,233.13 crore, up 7 per cent from ₹6,783.67 crore in the year-ago period. Net interest income (NII) grew 6 per cent year-on-year (Y-o-Y) to ₹5,047.28 crore in Q1FY26 from ₹4,750.05 crore in Q1FY25. The company's net profit came in at ₹1,359.92 crore, up 5 per cent from ₹1,300.21 crore in the year-ago period. In the reported quarter, the company's loan distursements witnessed a marginal growth to ₹13,116 crore compared to ₹12,915 crore in the year-ago period. Net interest margins (NIM) for the quarter slipped to 2.68 per cent against 2.6 per cent in Q1FY25. ALSO READ | Should you buy, sell, or hold LIC HFL post Q1? According to analysts at Motilal Oswal Financial Services (MOFSL), LIC Housing Finance delivered an operationally soft quarter, with subdued loan growth and disbursements. Asset quality weakened, mainly due to seasonal factors and some slippages in collections, as seen in the sequential rise in its 30+ dpd loans. Margins also came under pressure, primarily from lower yields after the recent repo rate reductions. "We believe that the declining interest rate environment, coupled with an intensifying aggression from banks (particularly in the super prime segment), will weigh on LICHF's loan growth and the consequent trade-off with margins. LIC Housing Finance's valuation of 0.7x FY27E P/BV reflects the inability of the franchise to deliver stronger loan growth," the brokerage said. MOFSL maintained a 'Neutral' rating on the stock with a target price of ₹650, based on 0.8x March 27E book value. Analysts at JM Financial believe that the decline in yields going forward will be partially offset by high-yielding affordable segment growth, leading to healthy net interest margins (NIMs), while the recovery pipeline will aid lower credit costs. The brokerage expects LIC HF to deliver average return ratios of 1.6/14 per cent RoA/RoE over FY26E/FY27E. JM Financial maintained a 'Buy' on the stock with an unchanged target price of ₹685, valuing at 0.8x FY27E BVPS.
