ITV Coronation Street legend left 'limping' as freak accident at home causes chaos
A Coronation Street star has shared how he was left 'limping' after a shock accident occurred at his home recently, after going on the hunt in his loft for an animal intruder
A Coronation Street favourite found himself "limping" after stumbling upon an unexpected find in his kitchen.
On the latest episode of the On The Sofa podcast, actor Ben Price, widely known as Nick Tilsley on the iconic soap, shared a comical, albeit painful incident at home amid a bizarre hunt for a rodent.
Chatting with co-stars Jack P. Shepherd and Colson Smith, Ben detailed the comical "accident" that ensued following an odd run-in with wildlife at his home.
The soap sensation hilariously revealed he had someone coming to fix his oven, which led to a grim discovery during a pre-repair clean out, a deceased rodent lurking under his kitchen unit.
Given his living situation next to fields, Ben suspected his loft might be harbouring more mice. Despite nursing a jiu-jitsu injury that rendered one leg essentially useless, he gallantly climbed up to check for further uninvited guests.
His somewhat risky pursuit took a turn for the worse when his foot crashed through the ceiling plaster.
He humorously recollected the calamity, saying: "And I put my foot straight through; straight through. I've fallen through the ceiling, but my leg's dead, so I can't pick it back up. So, I have to use both my - my leg's trapped in - and I'm going, pulling it back."
His torment didn't cease with the accident; looking down at his rubble-filled bathroom below he added: "And I think to myself, 'I've only put my little foot through', so it's just a foot mark in the ceiling. I'm thinking nothing of it, I look through the thing, and there was not one bit, the shower, the loo, the tiles, the floor, that wasn't covered."
Expanding on the disaster, he said: "It was utterly covered. The whole ceiling, the whole part of the ceiling, had fallen down. Utterly, utterly gone. So then, I'm limping down the stairs, Star's like, 'You've put your foot through the ceiling; where are the mice?'"
Taking no time to dwell on what had just happened, he hurried to tidy up the chaos without delay.
As fate would have it, his wife was heading upstairs for a shower when he humorously quipped: "You just need to know something, you just need to know something!" soon revealing: "I've put my foot through the ceiling".
Initially foreseeing a minor patch-up job, he shared his frustration when his wife took the mishap as a cue for a full bathroom makeover.
Meanwhile, despite sharing an update from his home life recently, Ben has been a prominent feature on our screens over the last decade and a half having originally landed the role of playing Nick back in 2009. Since then he has appeared in a number of the shows biggest storylines.

Denise Welch heaps praise on son Matty Healy after divisive Glasto set
Denise Welch has praised her son Matty Healy - frontman of rock band The 1975 - after his Friday night headline performance at Glastonbury divided fans Denise Welch - mum of The 1975's Matty Healy - has heaped praise on her son after his Glastonbury Festival headline set on the Pyramid Stage proved divisive amongst fans. The 36-year-old rocker, who hit the headlines in 2023 for his brief romance with Taylor Swift and is believed to have influenced her latest album The Tortured Poets Department, was branded 'insufferable' by some fans. While others left after being heard saying it 'wasn't their vibe'. The first thing they took issue with was Matty opening the band's set holding a pint of Guinness he didn't seem to drink, with a cigarette in the other hand. He then went on a rant in which he described himself as 'probably the best songwriter of my generation', telling the crowd: "What this moment is making me realise is that - yeah. This moment is making me realise. I probably am the best, so I'm probably the best songwriter of my generation. A poet, ladies and gentlemen, is what I am. I wanted to remind you - this poetry, I believed in it for you," he said in a dig to his ex Taylor Swift. READ MORE: Glastonbury Festival's mystery Patchwork act's identity revealed with telling clue But some fans weren't here for it, with one writing on social media: 'The thing which makes Matty Healy so insufferable is it's very easy to imagine that all the b**lendery he does on stage isn't just for the performance, but that he would genuinely sashay into Gregg's reciting 14th century French poetry.' Another moaned: 'Matty Healy swaggering about with a pint he has no intention of drinking is the most annoying thing I've ever seen." While a third said: "Should have been all about the #1975 but Healy has decided to hijack it and turn in a car crash performance. You can see it in the bands faces. All he had to do was hold it together for one day and he's failed miserably." In a video shared by his Loose Women star mum Denise - who watched her son's performance from the crowd and posed for snaps with various celebs backstage - Matty appeared to look emotional at one point and was given hugs by his band members and entourage. Posting the clip to her Instagram stories, 67-year-old Denise called The 1975's performance a '1000/10' and said it was an 'unbelievable night'. Denise, who shares Matty with ex-husband Tim Healy, was at the gig with her current partner, Matty's stepdad Lincoln Townley. But the former Coronation Street star has ruled out camping and is staying off site in what looks like a glamping set up with a hot tub. She told the Mirror she had been "stressing out" ahead of her son's appearance and said: "I've not really been a festival bunny - I don't really do festivals. "The only one I've been to is Coachella. It was all VIP and very lovely. Hot, sunny and gorgeous and I thought 'Oh, this is okay'. And no one stays there, everyone goes home at the end of the night. I am stressed about Glastonbury." She added: "I am not going to stay for the whole three days. I would rather be able to dip in and out. I might dip back in for the Sunday night to see Rod [Stewart]."

I've got a new girlfriend called Kate, which is fantastic, we're getting on well. "Life, will it ever be the same? Probably not. That's the reality. You've got a scar there but you can make the best out of life, as much as you want to do. "I'm a big believer in, if anyone's been through anything I've been through, do not try and stop life, because you cannot. "Life will just keep going forward. If you do try and stop it you're probably going to get yourself in a bit of trouble. You've got to roll with life. "Whatever it is, you've just got to keep going forward, as best you can and make the best of the situation you've got in some regards. "I'm very much a glass-half-full kind of guy, and I feel like that probably helped me a lot. But, don't try and stop it, because I think you can dig yourself in a deep hole very quickly." "I know that a lot of listeners will be very pleased to hear that," added Ben. "Life being good, that's OK as well," emphasised Tom. "I think I found that quite tricky. "Actually being happy was weird. Should I be happy? Shouldn't I be? But, yes. You should be. I didn't do anything wrong. Tiff didn't do anything wrong. "The situation happened and then we have to move on from that, and that's tough to say. But, that's reality. You've got to be OK that you are happy." ITV Coronation Street issues ‘be vigilant' warning to soap fans using social med
Coronation Street has issued warnings to fans in a social media statement. It has become known to people behind the scenes at the soap that fans are falling victim to another type of scam. Back at the start of this year, both Corrie and Emmerdale accounts shared on social media platform X that scammers were pretending to be stars from the shows. The statement said: 'Please be aware that actors from both Coronation Street and Emmerdale are currently being impersonated by scammers across all social media platforms. 'No cast member will ever directly request money for messages, meetings or any kind of personal interaction on social media. 'We are aware these sophisticated impersonations can include deep-fake footage (where it appears to be the actor talking but isn't) and personal messages which seem to be realistic and in character. We urge everybody to be vigilant. Please report any concerns to the relevant platform.' They concluded: 'The legitimate way of meeting with real members of the cast is via official 'meet and greet' events run by ITV Star Tours.' This time, audience members are being targeted by con artists pretending to be from the Coronation Street casting department – claiming to offer them a part in their favourite soap. Metro understands that fans of Emmerdale have been approached too. To warn people about the cruel trick, the Corrie X account once again shared a message online, this time saying: 'We are aware that there are some accounts impersonating the Casting department at Coronation Street on social media platforms. 'Our Casting team only uses official methods of communication, this does not involve direct messages on Twitter or any other social media. 'Please be careful when communicating online and report any concerns to the relevant platform.' This comes after Emmerdale favourite Lisa Riley told her fans not to believe AI bots pretending to be her online. The actress, 48, is best known for her role as Mandy Dingle, said on Instagram: 'Hello everybody, it's Lisa here. Now, I have to keep reiterating this, please, and please listen.' 'If something is not on my page – and my page is blue-ticked – then it is not real,' she stated, referencing the social media network's notable person verification system. 'It is AI pretending to be me, and there is nothing I can do about it. It's a hoax, it's a scam and it's a lie. 'So please, I'm begging you, don't click on it, don't believe it, don't read it, don't give it any attention. It's not true. More Trending 'I have to keep reiterating this because I am inundated with people saying that I'm attached to things that I'm not. So please, if it's not on my page, it's not real and I have not endorsed anything of that like.' She concluded: 'Listen to what I'm saying, and don't take it as the truth because it's not. From me to you, I'm so sorry that it's going on because it's not real and I have to keep telling you guys this. 'But just don't believe it. It's a hoax and a scam. It's not the truth, thank you for listening.' View More » This article was originally published on 17th June 2025.
