Bucs announce new player to be added to Ring of Honor in 2025
The Bucs have not added a player to their Ring of Honor since 2019, and they will break that streak again in 2025 with a new induction.
Players currently in the Bucs Ring of Honor include Lee Roy Selmon, Jimmie Giles, and Paul Gruber to just name a few. There are nine in total but soon there will be ten when the team inducts Simeon Rice during the 2025 season. The former Bucs pass rusher will join fellow teammates and Super Bowl Champions John Lynch, Warren Sapp, and Derrick Brooks in the Ring of Honor, as well as head coach Jon Gruden.
Rice played in 87 games for the Bucs over six seasons, including one Super Bowl season.
During that stretch, Rice accumulated 69 of his 122 career sacks for the Bucs defense in his career. He also forced four interceptions and 19 fumbles while also getting one All-Pro honor and was voted to two Pro Bowls.
Being inducted into the Bucs Ring of Honor is something that many folks feel was long overdue, but doing it during the team's 50th season.

Kyle Shanahan's confidence in 49ers rising star could set table for new Super Bowl window
San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan tied his future with the 49ers to quarterback Brock Purdy when the club signed Purdy to a massive five-year extension this offseason and erased all doubt about his status as their franchise QB. Shanahan on Tuesday in a press conference talked about his expectations for Purdy in 2025 and made it clear he doesn't believe the 25-year-old has played his best football yet. Purdy's continued ascension will ultimately determine whether the 49ers have a new Super Bowl window, or if there will be an overhaul of the coaching staff and front office in the not-so-distant future. 'I think Brock's played at a very high level since he's been here, since his first game in to his last game," Shanahan said. "I think Brock's played at an extremely high level and that's why he's earned that contract. I think the hardest thing with this League and the amount of money and the amount of coverage when people get contracts, there's all this other expectation of now what do they have to do? Brock needs to keep playing how he's always played and continue to get better like everyone does. You get better or worse, you don't stay the same. "So like, Brock has had a hell of a short career so far, he had a hell of an offseason. When you have a guy who is to me real in those ways, it hasn't been fake, the way he works, who he is as a man, what he's put on film, what we see every day, he will keep getting better and that's what we saw throughout OTAs.' It's pretty simple from the 49ers' perspective. Purdy isn't always going to be surrounded by a slew of All-Pros and Pro Bowlers. At some point he'll need to elevate his game and help carry the club that paid him $100 million guaranteed. That elevation is what the 49ers and Shanahan are banking on. Last season didn't instill a ton of confidence as Purdy put together his worst stretch of football at a time when the team was dealing with injuries to some of its top playmakers like Christian McCaffrey and Brandon Aiyuk. It doesn't sound like Shanahan is worried about additional regression this year. It's a catastrophe if there is. 100 NFL Players Busted For Selling Super Bowl LIX Tickets, Social Media Snitches

More than a hundred are set to be fined and/or lose their allocation for the next two Super Bowls after league sources revealed they sold their tickets for more than face value. 'Our initial investigation has determined that a number of NFL players and coaches, employed by several NFL Clubs, sold Super Bowl tickets for more than the ticket's face value in violation of the policy,' NFL chief compliance officer Sabrina Perel said in a memo sent out to all 32 NFL teams. The 100 players represent a little over 6% of the entire NFL player rosters. But per an ESPN report, there are team employees, including coaches, who are among the number who sold their tickets. 'This long-standing League Policy, which is specifically incorporated into the Collective Bargaining Agreement, prohibits League or Club employees, including players, from selling NFL game tickets acquired from their employer for more than the ticket's face value or for an amount greater than the employee originally paid for the ticket, whichever is less,' the memo continued. Players and team personnel sold the tickets to 'bundlers' who were working with resellers, per the memo. Penalties will increase for anyone deemed to be working with the bundlers to help facilitate sales. Fines would be one and a half times what the player or employee sold the ticket for, and they would lose the chance to acquire them for the next two Super Bowls. There could also be suspensions involved. Some of the players involved have already elected to pay the fines. Those who lose their allotment would only be able to purchase tickets if they are playing in the Super Bowl. The league would not release names of players, coaches or team personnel who were part of the crackdown. Tickets for Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans, which resulted in a 40-22 win for the Philadelphia Eagles vs. the Kansas City Chiefs, ranged in cost from $2,588 to nearly $3,500 for the cheapest seats. On the high end, some tickets were more than $10,000. The Chicago Bears are gearing up for an exciting 2025 NFL season, which features some new faces within the organization poised to get the franchise back to its winning ways. That starts with the hiring of Ben Johnson as head coach, as well as overhauling the interior offensive line, adding pieces on defense and a potenital impactful rookie draft class. Background Position: Left guard Age: 32 Experience: 10th season 2025 cap hit: $8 million 2024 recap Thuney has established himself as one of the best guards in the NFL, and he showcased why last season with the Kansas City Chiefs. Last season, Thuney started all 17 games for the Chiefs. While he played primarily at left guard, he kicked over to left tackle for three contests as Kansas City dealt with injuries along the offensive line. Thuney once again served as key protection for quarterback Patrick Mahomes as the Chiefs once again made a Super Bowl appearance. Thuney was named to the Pro Bowl and earned a First-Team All-Pro nod for his 2024 outing. 2025 outlook The Bears focused on overhauling the offensive line this offseason, including the additions of guard Jonah Jackson (via trade) and center Drew Dalman (in free agency). But their biggest addition was Thuney, who was acquired in exchange for a 2026 fourth-round pick. Shortly after, Chicago signed him to a two-year, $35 million deal to keep him through 2027. Thuney has the potential to have the biggest impact given his resume and proven production. He's coming off an All-Pro season where he even kicked out to left tackle, but he thrived at left guard protecting Patrick Mahomes. Now, Thuney brings that experience, production and leadership to a revamped Chicago offensive line that will be crucial to quarterback Caleb Williams' success. And if rookie Ozzy Trapilo wins the starting left tackle job, Thuney will be even more crucial for Trapilo as he acclimates to the pro game. The Bears will only go as far as Williams takes them. And Williams will only go as far as his offensive line allows. Thuney will play an integral role in the offensive line's success. Big question: Can Thuney continue to be a top NFL guard in Chicago? The Bears invested a lot in Thuney -- a fourth round pick in 2026 and $33.5 million guaranteed -- so they're banking on him to serve an integral role along the offensive line. Thuney is a two-time First-Team All-Pro, three-time Pro Bowler and four-time Super Bowl winner and one of the best guards in the entire NFL. Thuney's an elite pass blocker and has been the best pass-blocking guard, per Pro Football Focus, since 2021 with a 90.2 grade. But the question remains whether Thuney will continue that level of play outside of a winning organization like Kansas City.
