These Stunning Chanel Diamonds Are Devon Lee Carlson's Favorite

Elle04-06-2025
Nothing feels like a luxury fairytale quite like an evening filled with jewels in Kyoto. Earlier this week, Chanel celebrated the launch of its 'Reach for the Stars' high jewelry collection among fashion's most fabulous with a stunning excursion to Japan. For 'It' girl and style icon Devon Lee Carlson, the night was a whirlwind dream. Before heading out, Carlson playfully stacked her Coco Crush bracelets and rings, which perfectly complemented the edgy vibe of her sequined leather halter dress.
The impressive collection consists of 109 pieces that deeply honor the historic legacy of Gabrielle Chanel. Signature motifs abound—lions, comets, and the debut of wings, all of which reference iconic moments throughout the designer's life. Chanel's star sign, Leo, is manifested through her lifelong collection of feline sculptures. Since then, the lion has become an integral symbol for the brand's high jewelry collections. Meanwhile, the comet represents a direct through-line to Chanel's first-ever 1932 Bijoux de Diamants line, a revolutionary idea in the diamond space amidst turmoil of that year.
Finally, and perhaps most important, are the wings. This motif is represented in pieces such as the impressive 'Wings of Chanel' necklace, which features a boldly sculptural design and detachable pendant of star-shaped diamonds that doubles as a bracelet (also a favorite of Carlson's). The centerpiece—a cushion-cut Padparadscha sapphire, never before seen in a Chanel high jewelry collection. As the house founder once famously said, 'If you were born without wings, do nothing to prevent them from growing.'

‘Butter Skin' Is the Soft-Focus Glow Trend Every Celebrity Is Trying

Every item on this page was chosen by an ELLE editor. We may earn commission on some of the items you choose to buy. If you're on social media, you're likely familiar with the term 'butter skin.' For the uninitiated, the trend—which celebrates a smooth, butter-like complexion—has been making waves on TikTok, where creators demonstrate how to achieve the soft-focus finish through precise makeup techniques, seamless application, and targeted skin care steps. Beauty experts now predict it will soon overtake the glossy, 'glass skin' and donut-esque looks that have long dominated our feeds. And with Google searches on the rise—Google Trends reports more than 300,000 searches in the past month alone—and with videos multiplying, butter skin is poised to become our latest skin care-makeup fascination. Case in point: The fledgling trend has made its way onto the red carpet, where soft-focus skin dominates this year. Everyone from Elle Fanning and Margaret Qualley to Anok Yai and Mikey Madison has embraced the softer aesthetic, eschewing the high-shine complexions often associated with red-carpet beauty. Instead, the stars opted for natural radiance. The result was neither overly matte and one-dimensional nor ultra-illuminated and glossy, but hydrated, fresh, and smooth. Since then, famous faces such as Daisy Edgar-Jones and Dakota Johnson have also been making a case for skipping the supernatural glow in favor of a softer finish. 'The butter skin makeup trend is all about achieving a smooth, creamy, and radiant complexion that looks as soft and even as butter,' says Chanel makeup artist Anna Payne. 'Unlike the ultra-dewy glass-skin trend, butter skin has a more natural, satin-like finish—it's hydrated and glowing but never overly shiny.' Skin care, as always, is the first step in recreating the trend. 'To achieve this look, start with a rich, nourishing moisturizer—Payne recommends Chanel's Sublimage La Crème Texture Suprême—as it creates a buttery-soft base. Then apply concealer only where needed to keep the finish fresh and skin-like,' she says. Aim for skin that feels nourished, not slick. Use a gentle exfoliating toner, and steer clear of oil-based or overly mattifying formulas. Finish with a hydrating serum followed by a rich moisturizer. Makeup-wise, skip glosses, highlighters, and ultra-dewy finishes—as well as heavy matte powders—and reach for lighter, serum-like textures: think skin tints, tinted moisturizers, or foundations with a soft-focus or velvet finish. Lock everything in with an invisible setting powder such as Hourglass Vanish Pressed Powder. A cream bronzer can help you nail the soft finish. 'Warm up the face with a cream bronzer, blending it on the high points where the sun naturally hits and softening the edges with your foundation brush for a seamless look,' says Payne. She adds that you can finish with a tinted lip balm and a cream blush. Butter skin is showing up on the runway as well—see Giorgio Armani's fall/winter 2025 show, where models' complexions looked butter-soft and radiant, and Hermès's ethereal glow. Whether it's the runway, the red carpet, or TikTok's latest obsession with delicious beauty terms, expect to see even more of this trend this season.

Andy Sachs is back! Anne Hathaway shares 1st look at 'The Devil Wears Prada 2'

Anne Hathaway has officially reprised one of her chicest roles to date. The 42-year-old actress shared a first-look photo of herself in costume while filming The Devil Wears Prada 2. The photo, posted to Instagram on Monday, sees Hathaway in a pin-striped vest and matching trousers, which she paired with pointed-toe boots and a gold T-bar necklace. 'Andy Sachs 2025 #dwp2,' Hathaway captioned the photo. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Anne Hathaway (@annehathaway) Hathaway was also seen filming the sequel on Monday. The actress, with her lightly tussled locks and rectangular shades, strutted down a New York City sidewalk in a sleeveless white top, unbuttoned black vest, light-washed denim skirt and Chanel slides. The Idea of You star shared a video on TikTok earlier that morning, with a subtle nod to the original film. Alongside the caption, 'Heading to work #dwp2,' Hathaway wears a blue sweater while brushing her teeth. Fans, of course, remember the famous cerulean blue monologue from the 2006 film. Confirmation that The Devil Wears Prada 2 is officially in the works came in June, when 20th Century Studios, the distributor for the original 2006 film, shared a 21-second clip on Instagram, which featured a pair of red stilettos with the devil's pitchfork as heels. The sequel is set to hit theaters on May 1, 2026. Based on the novel by Lauren Weisberger, the 2006 film follows recent journalism graduate Andy Sachs (Hathaway) as she's thrust into the fast-paced world of high fashion after becoming an assistant to Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep), the cutthroat editor in chief at Runway magazine. Streep earned an Oscar nomination for her portrayal of Priestly, who was famously modeled after Vogue's former editor in chief Anna Wintour. Nearly 20 years later, the sequel will focus on Priestly as she deals with the changing tides in fashion journalism and the decline of traditional magazine publishing. The indomitable editor will be forced to confront former assistant Emily Charlton (Emily Blunt), a now ultra-successful executive for a luxury group with financing that could determine the future of Runway magazine. Hathaway, Streep and Blunt aren't the only stars reprising their roles in the sequel. Stanley Tucci, who played Priestly's stylish left-hand man in the original film, Tracie Thoms, who portrayed the best friend of Hathaway's character, and Tibor Feldman, the chairman of Runway's parent company, will also return. New additions to the cast, according to Variety, include Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, B.J. Novak, Pauline Chalamet and Kenneth Branagh, who will portray the husband of Streep's character. Fashion, unsurprisingly, is at the forefront of the original beloved film. As Sachs grows more comfortable in her new position, so does her inclination to express herself sartorially. We soon see her swapping cerulean blue sweaters for head-to-toe Chanel. Fans of the original can expect standout, high-end style to play just as significant a role in the sequel. Production of The Devil Wears Prada 2 appears to be well underway, but Hathaway initially had low expectations of it ever coming to fruition. 'Probably not,' she told V Magazine in 2024. 'We all love each other, and if somebody could come up with a way to do it, I think we'd all be crazy not to. But there's a huge difference in the world now with technology, and one of the things about that particular story is it was about producing a physical object. Now with so much being digital, it would just be very different.'
