Woods Richardson, 24, is 5-4 with a 4.24 ERA in 17 appearances (16 starts) with the Twins this season. In four seasons with Minnesota, he is 10-10 with a 4.30 ERA in 47 career appearances (45 starts).
McCaughan, 29, had a 1.69 ERA in three appearances with the Twins earlier this season. In 20 major league appearances over four seasons with four different teams, McCaughan has a 6.02 ERA.

August 5 - The NFL has suspended Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison three games without pay for violating the league's substances of abuse policy, the club announced Tuesday. ESPN reported Monday that the team was bracing for the news following the adjudication of his legal case stemming from his arrest on a DUI charge in July 2024. According to the team, Addison can participate fully in all training camp activities and preseason games. But he will not play when the Vikings open the regular season Sept. 8 in Chicago against the Bears on Monday Night Football. Addison also will miss the home games against the Atlanta Falcons and Cincinnati Bengals in Weeks 2 and 3. Addison is eligible to return for Minnesota's Week 4 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Dublin, Ireland. Addison was arrested in July 2024 near Los Angeles International Airport after police found him asleep at the wheel of his Rolls-Royce, which was blocking a lane of traffic on Interstate 105. He resolved his legal case last month by pleading no contest to a lesser charge. He was placed on 12 months of probation and ordered to pay a fine and complete two online courses. He caught 63 passes for 875 yards and nine touchdowns in 15 games (all starts) during his second season in 2024. The 2023 first-round draft pick (23rd overall) has 133 receptions for 1,786 yards and 19 TDs in 32 games (29 starts) while serving primarily as the Vikings' No. 2 receiver behind All-Pro Justin Jefferson. --Field Level Media

Report: Celtics swap Georges Niang to Jazz; sign Chris Boucher
August 5 - The Boston Celtics traded forward Georges Niang and two second-round draft picks to the Utah Jazz to acquire rookie forward RJ Luis Jr., ESPN reported Tuesday. In addition to helping Boston with luxury tax issues, the trade clears a roster spot for Boston because Luis is on a two-way contract. The Celtics are using that spot to sign forward Chris Boucher to a one-year, $3.3 million contract, Boucher's agent told ESPN. Niang, 32, was sent from the Atlanta Hawks to Boston in a three-team trade last month, but the Massachusetts native will not play a game for the Celtics. Niang averaged a career-best 9.9 points and 3.4 rebounds per game last season across 79 games split between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Hawks. He has posted 7.4 points and 2.5 rebounds per game while shooting 39.9 percent from 3-point range across 544 career games (32 starts) for five teams. Niang spent four seasons for the Jazz (2017-21) as a reserve forward. In Luis, the Celtics acquired a 22-year-old swingman who went undrafted in June and missed Summer League with a knee injury. Luis played one season at UMass and transferred to St. John's, where he was voted the Big East Player of the Year and an Associated Press second-team All-American. Boucher, 32, appeared in 50 games off the bench for the Toronto Raptors last season and put up 10 points and 4.5 rebounds in just 17.2 minutes per game. Donald Trump unveils 'very strong' testing to stop male athletes sneaking into women's sports at 2028 Olympics
Donald Trump has revealed that there will be 'strong forms of testing' as part of his clamp down on transgender athletes competing in women's sports. Trump signed the executive order to ban trans athletes from women's sports back in February - with the United States set to host the Olympics in Los Angeles in 2028. It took many months but, in July, the US Olympic and Paralympic Committee reportedly complied with Trump's demand in a major breakthrough for the President. Now, Trump has revealed testing plans over the matter. He was asked: 'Will the Department of Justice consider pressing charges against any man that tries to masquerade as a woman coming into this country to beat up American athletes? Would you consider genetic testing so these people can prove they're women?' Trump responded: 'I think there is going to be a very strong form of testing. As far as charges, I'd have to ask the Attorney General about that. 'But there will be a very, very strong form of testing. And if the test doesn't come out appropriately, they won't be in the Olympics'. Back in May, the president threatened to pull federal funding in California if the state did not follow the order, before suing its Department of Education when they refused to do so. The lawsuit filed by the Justice Department said California's trans athlete stance violated Title IX, the federal law that bans discrimination in education based on sex. The department also claimed the state's policies 'are not only illegal and unfair but also demeaning, signaling to girls that their opportunities and achievements are secondary to accommodating boys.' US Attorney General Pam Bondi warned other states that allow trans girls to compete in female athletics that they could also face challenges by the federal government. Last year's Paris Olympics was marred by controversy after Imane Khelif - a boxer from Algeria - was allowed to fight against women in the welterweight category despite intense scrutiny over her gender. Khelif went all the way and captured gold in the French capital, which sparked outrage given she was thrown out of the world championship in 2023 after allegedly failing gender eligibility tests. USA Fencing recently posted a new policy for trans athletes that will take effect on August 1. The governing body, which came under fire earlier this year after a female fencer was disqualified for refusing to face a trans opponent, will now restric trans women to only competing in the men's category.
