Tyrell Hatton reveals sinking Guinness is key to flying start at The Open as Englishman keeps a cool head

The English golfer has made an impressive start at Royal Portrush Tyrell Hatton says he won't ever stop losing his sh*t and pints of Guinness help him get over the fury and angst. ‌ The English star is bang in the mix at Royal Portrush after a second-day 69 moved him to five-under par. ‌ Hatton has taken his flying US Open form from Oakmont into Northern Ireland, but despite the magic moments, the furious outbursts and puzzled bewilderment remain. ‌ The Ryder Cup star smiled when it was put to him that he has found a way to keep a better lid on his emotions in the Major melting pot. Hatton said: 'I don't know. I was still pretty vocal. Maybe I'm just having to do it away from the microphone. 'No. It was pretty negative stuff, yeah. No [I won't share it]. It'll get me in trouble. ‌ 'I've always felt like even though I can be losing my sh*it, I can get over the next shot and still have a clear mind of what I'm still trying to achieve. 'Although from the outside it looks like I'm completely gone, in my own mind, I still know where I'm at.' Asked if he could change, he laughed: 'I'm 33. I think that ship has sailed, to be honest! It just means I get stick from you guys generally. No, I'm not going to change. It's just how I am, how I play. ‌ 'I've always said, as long as it's not affecting my playing partners. "Sure there's been times I've probably gone too far and you comment on a putt when they're putting on the same line and then it maybe affects where they're hitting their putt. Stuff like that, I think that's part of what you learn as you get more experience, so I do try and avoid that kind of thing. 'But, long as I'm not affecting the other guys, then I'm not going to change.' ‌ Hatton says he has the perfect way to unwind as he explained: 'Normally a Guinness is a pretty good way to start. Certainly this week anyway. Would be rude not to. 'I think three is the magic number. Two to three because you're definitely not close to a hangover and you still feel like you've got, hopefully, I've got a late tee time Saturday so I can have a lay-in, as well. ‌ 'I don't know, generally just, whether it be in the house and just watching Netflix, something like that, just to get away from golf.' Hatton got his ex-caddie Bo, who now works for Min-Woo Lee and assisted Shane Lowry to success at this course six years ago, involved in the night-out planning as he revealed their chat on the 18th went along the lines of: 'To be honest, I said, I'll see you later for a pint. 'It was a lovely moment. He did say: Go well this weekend, so I responded, I'll see you later for a pint.' Hatton came close to success at Oakmont before JJ Spaun edged clear in the finale and he said: 'I really enjoyed that experience. I know it wasn't the ending of how I'd like it to have played out, but how I dealt with everything there and even out on the course with the most pressure, I still feel like I hit some really good shots. 'I left feeling proud and happy with how I dealt with everything. I'd love to have another chance to win. So far we're in a decent position, but we've still got a lot of golf left to play. You've still got so many amazing players, but, from my side, it's been a solid couple of days. I can't really complain too much.'

25 of the best photos bringing the swinging 60s back to life

But while they are painted as the cool, carefree days when the world shook off its shackles and life burst into technicolour, that's not how everyone experienced them. The cultural revolution didn't touch all corners of the UK, where many families were still experiencing great hardship and unable to afford the new fashions, sounds and technological breakthroughs the decade offered. These photos show life as it really was back then in the UK for ordinary people. They capture the excitement of the 60s, from the dance halls to the catwalk, but they also depict the practical realities of everyday life, from the supermarket aisles to the factory floor. If you were around in the 1960s, you will remember things like collecting Green Shield stamps in the shops, getting free school milk and enjoying donkey rides and Punch and Judy shows at the beach. You'll also recall the political demonstrations of the day, as women fought for equal pay, and huge crowds demanded an end to apartheid. And you'll likely remember the events which caught the public imagination, like Pickles the dog sniffing out the stolen World Cup trophy. TV rentals, the launch of Channel 2, a huge free Rolling Stones concert and the killer fog which descended are among the other evocative images in this retro photo gallery which together help capture the spirit of the 60s. What are your abiding memories of the 1960s? Let us know in the comments section. 1 . He made sure to double check, asking: "Are you two a legitimate couple?" To be even more sure, Martin asked if the couple were understanding his question, by following up with: "Do you speak English?" Users on X flooded the comments under the clip, which so far has gathered two million views. One person wrote: "He gotta ask before flashing them on screen." Another added: "He got PTSD from the previous couple." The moment came just a day after Martin accidentally kicked off an internet firestorm when when Astronomer CEO Andy Byron appeared on the kiss cam canoodling with his HR chief, Kristin Cabot. As the camera panned to the duo during Wednesday night's show, the Viva La Vida singer said: "Oh look at these two." Seconds later, Byron — who is married — dropped his arm from around Cabot and quickly ducked behind a barrier, while she covered her face with her hands. Martin then delivered the now-famous zinger: "Oh what… either they're having an affair or they're very shy." The TikTok clip has since racked up over 46 million views and sparked intense backlash online, with social media users accusing Byron of cheating and rallying behind his wife, Megan Kerrigan Byron. Agonising moment tech CEO Andy Byron is caught 'cheating' with his HR chief at Coldplay gig as pair cuddle on big screen Supporters praised Megan for quietly removing "Byron" from her name on Facebook before deleting her account altogether. Her Instagram also vanished. One X user wrote: "What a class act! Go Megan. Get that divorce lawyer and get the money." Another added: "She deserves so much better." The Coldplay fan who filmed the jaw-dropping moment has told The U.S. Sun she never meant to cause a scandal - but stands by sharing the footage. She said: "I had no idea who the couple was. Just thought I caught an interesting reaction to the kiss cam and decided to post it. "A part of me feels bad for turning these people's lives upside down, but, play stupid games… win stupid prizes." Even longer footage has since dropped, showing the full reaction of panicked "mistress" Kristen Cabot. 8 Byron (Green sweater) pictured with Cabot (far Right) Credit: Facebook 8 Andy Byron has worked at the tech firm for more than two years Credit: Linkedin 8 Kristin Cabot is Astronomer's Chief People Officer Credit: Linkedin Byron has been CEO of Astronomer - valued at over $1.3billion - since July 2023. Cabot, who goes by Kristin Cabot Thornby on LinkedIn, joined as Chief People Officer nine months ago. When Cabot was appointed, Byron called her a 'proven leader' with 'exceptional leadership and deep expertise in talent management.' Cabot previously boasted on her LinkedIn profile that she "wins trust with employees of all levels, from CEOs to managers to assistants." The pair have yet to publicly comment on the viral incident. The Sun has approached Astronomer for comment. Meanwhile, fake apology statements — falsely attributed to Byron and Coldplay — have flooded social media, with one viral hoax even claiming the band would introduce "camera-free audience sections for people and their sidepieces." One man also claimed he was fired from Astronomer for buying the Coldplay tickets that allegedly exposed the affair — though that, too, appears unverified.
