NEET UG 2025 Result: Cut-off, counselling details
Initially affiliated with Civil Hospital, Ahmedabad, it began with just 14 students training as hospital assistants. In 1879, a donation of Rs 20,000 by Sir Byramjee Jeejeebhoy led to the school being renamed BJ Medical School. The institution steadily expanded, securing affiliation with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Bombay in 1917 and later with Bombay University in 1946, earning its status as BJ Medical College, offering L.C.P.S. diplomas. The college affiliated its undergraduate courses with Gujarat University in 1951, followed by postgraduate courses in 1956. Since then, Gujarat University has overseen its academic progression, fostering an environment where medical and paramedical education thrive.
The college now enrolls 250 students annually in its MBBS programme and over 400 students in various postgraduate disciplines. It offers postgraduate education in 24 specialties and super specialty training in 11 fields. Spanning more than 100 acres, the expansive campus houses multiple departments, making it one of the largest medical campuses in this region, attracting students from across India.
BJ Medical College is ranked at 50th in the National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2023 and 2022 in the medical category. In 2024, it could not feature in the list.
Gujarat's Cancer and Research Institute is the top medical college in the state and was ranked in the 45th rank in NIRF 2024 medical college rankings and was placed in 41st position in the NIRF 2023 medical college rankings. The Gujarat Cancer and Research Institute was ranked at the 37th rank in NIRF 2022 but slipped to 41st rank in NIRF 2023 medical rankings and 45th in 2024.
The admission to BJ Medical College Ahmedabad will be through 85 per cent state quota seats against the NEET UG 2025 counselling and will be conducted by the Gujarat state authorities for admission to the college. The Admission Committee for Professional Under Graduate Medical Courses (ACPUGMEC) is the administering body for NEET UG 2025 counselling in Gujarat.

The New Delhi District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission has directed DHI Asian Roots, a private clinic, to refund Rs 5,01,000 and pay additional compensation after finding it guilty of performing a hair transplant procedure without a valid licence or government approval. The order was issued on May 22, 2025, following a complaint filed by a patient who alleged lack of results and unqualified medical staff, a TOI report stated. It also failed to show approval for employing qualified doctors. The bench, led by president Poonam Chaudhry and members Bariq Ahmad and Shekhar Chandra, stated that conducting such medical procedures without proper licensing and expertise amounts to unfair trade practice. Additionally, it directed payment of Rs 1,00,000 as compensation for mental harassment and Rs 30,000 towards litigation costs. The complainant had undergone three sessions at the clinic but reported no visible improvement in hair condition. The commission noted, 'Despite the complainant undergoing three sessions, there was not even 1% improvement. The clinic failed to provide any explanation for the lack of results.' He alleged that the clinic employed unqualified staff and carried out procedures without proper medical licences. Despite paying the full amount in 2013, he did not see any results, which led him to file a complaint. Clinic claimed procedures were informed and professional The clinic defended itself by stating that the complainant was made aware of the pros and cons of the transplant procedure. It argued that results varied by individual, and that the procedures were conducted in a professional manner, including additional work at the complainant's request. The clinic maintained that the patient's dissatisfaction stemmed from impatience and not following medical advice.

Sigachi Industries refutes reactor blast as cause of tragedy, confirms 40 dead and 33 injured
HYDERABAD: Two days after the explosion at a Sigachi Industries facility in Pashamylaram, Sangareddy, the company has stated that the accident was not caused by a reactor explosion. In a press release issued on Wednesday July 2, the company confirmed that the blast on May 30 led to the deaths of 40 workers and left 33 others injured. The company noted that, since the time of the incident, it has been coordinating emergency response efforts, providing support to affected families, and cooperating fully with ongoing investigations and compliance requirements. 'Sigachi Industries Ltd has committed to providing an ex-gratia compensation of Rs 1 crore to the families of the deceased. Those injured will receive full medical care and rehabilitation support,' the statement added.
