Kamala Harris returns to The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to promote new book

Kamala Harris is back in the spotlight. The former Vice President will be appearing on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert tonight, July 31, Deadline reported. Kamala Harris returns to The Late Show with Stephen Colbert(X/@@colbertlateshow) Kamala Harris makes The Late Show comeback Harris' The Late Show comeback comes just one day after she confirmed she will not be running for California Governor, shutting down months of speculation about her next political move. Earlier today, she also shared the news about her new book. In an announcement video shared on Instagram, she said, 'Since leaving office, I've spent a lot of time reflecting on those days, talking with my team, my family, my friends, and pulling my thoughts together – in essence, writing a journal that is this book '107 Days' with candor and reflection.' This interview is sure to draw attention not just for Harris' return, but also because of the drama surrounding Colbert himself. The Late Show was canceled by CBS earlier this month, a move officially blamed on budget cuts. However, some believe there may be more to it. Former President Trump had launched legal action against Paramount Global, CBS's parent company, over past segments aired on the show. While the company settled the lawsuit quietly to push its Skydance merger through, the shadow of that case still lingers. Also read: Kamala Harris running for president in 2028? California Gov decision sparks speculation When Harris last appeared on the show, back in October 2024, just before the election, she famously shared a Miller High Life beer with Colbert and did not hold back on her criticism of Trump, calling him a man who 'openly admires dictators and authoritarians.' Tonight's appearance will be her eighth time on The Late Show since her first visit in 2018. With the show on its way out and Harris reflecting on her political future, this interview feels more like a closing chapter for both of them. The Late Show is produced by CBS Studios and Spartina Productions, with Stephen Colbert, Tom Purcell, and Jon Stewart serving as executive producers. FAQs: Q1. Jeremy Allen White, Mikey Madison To Team Up For The Social Network Sequel? What We Know

Mikey Madison and Jeremy Allen White may star in The Social Network II, written by Aaron Sorkin, focusing on Facebook's impact. Mikey Madison and Jeremy Allen White are reportedly being eyed for the long-rumoured sequel to The Social Network. Insiders close to the film's writer, Aaron Sorkin have told Deadline he has the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood star, 26, and The Bear actor, 34, in mind for the leading roles in The Social Network II. However, it's still early days and no formal offers have been made, as the team are still figuring out the budget and fine-tuning the script, per the outlet. The Academy Award winning filmmaker is said to have already written a screenplay for a sequel to his 2010 blockbuster, which starred Jesse Eisenberg as Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and told the story of the social media platform's creation. As recently reported by Deadline, Sorkin is set to direct the follow-up, which comes 15 years after David Fincher was at the helm for the original. According to the outlet, sources say the upcoming movie will not be a straight sequel, but instead a 'follow-up to the original movie" which explored the platform's origins. It's said the screenplay delves into the story behind the Wall Street Journal's Facebook Files, which were a series of October 2021 articles by Jeff Horowitz. The pieces sought to expose Facebook's inner workings, and the harms caused by them. The focus won't all be on the suggestion that Facebook played a role in the January 6, 2020 attack on the US Capitol. It will also delve into the impact the site has on teenagers and preteens, as well as violence, and its wider effect on countries around the world. Back in 2021, Sorkin opened up on his plans for a sequel, insisting 'what has been going on with Facebook these last few years is a story very much worth telling." At the time, he suggested a sequel relied on Fincher agreeing to return to helm the follow-up. Last year, he insisted he 'blamed Facebook" for the US Capitol attack, but teased The Town podcast listeners that they would 'need to buy a movie ticket" to find out why. He did reveal that he'd started writing a sequel, and offered a hint about what direction that was taking. He said, 'Facebook has been, among other things, tuning its algorithm to promote the most divisive material possible. Because that is what will increase engagement. That is what will get you to — what they call inside the hallways of Facebook — 'the infinite scroll'… There's supposed to be a constant tension at Facebook between growth and integrity. There isn't. It's just growth." It's not yet known if Eisenberg will return as Zuckerberg. First Published: July 31, 2025, 21:12 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
