Lauren's attorneys did not immediately respond to Rolling Stone's request for comment.
Last month, Lauren was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder for allegedly firing in the direction of police officers first. According to the LAPD, Lauren racked her gun and fired it during a standoff with police officers who were in a neighboring yard conducting a search for hit-and-run suspects who had fled the scene of a nearby traffic collision earlier that day.
Body-worn camera footage and home-surveillance video later released by the LAPD appeared to show Lauren pointing her gun toward a fence which officers were standing behind.
'The officers gave Shriner repeated verbal commands to drop the handgun, however, she did not comply,' LAPD Commander Alex Chogyoji said in a case overview video released late last month. 'Moments later, Shriner racked the handgun, pointed it at the officers and fired, resulting in an officer involved shooting.'
Lauren released her first memoir, Some Girls: My Life in a Harem, in 2010, and her second, Everything You Ever Wanted, in May 2015. Both books reached The New York Times bestseller list.
Following the shooting, Lauren was booked in absentia on suspicion of attempted murder and released on $1 million bail. She is due back in court on June 18 for a preliminary hearing on whether the case against her will proceed, per the the Times.

When Lauren, 33, met 5-year-old Peggy the dog at a rescue in 2024, she had no idea she'd found a companion that would become a huge part of her life. Peggy, a Staffordshire bull terrier cross, was at Basildon Dogs Trust in the U.K. where she was taken after being rescued from Ireland where it is believed she was used for breeding. "I don't know much about Peggy other than she was used for breeding and was from Ireland," Lauren, who didn't give a surname, told Newsweek. "She had obvious signs of recent breeding when I initially met her. I had to wait for her to be spayed before she could come home with me." As a first-time dog owner, Lauren waited six months to be matched with the right dog. That patience paid off. "The Dogs Trust really found me the perfect dog because she has the most gorgeous temperament," she said. "She absolutely loves all people and dogs." In 2024, approximately 5 million animals entered U.S. shelters and rescues, according to Shelter Animals Count—an increase of nearly 3 percent from 2023. By the end of the year, 103,000 more pets had entered shelters than had exited, contributing to an ongoing capacity crisis in U.S. shelters. In the text overlay she said: "The universe really said we will give you the sweetest rescue girl and she will be obsessed with you and give you all the unconditional love in the world." The camera pans to show Peggy, sitting right next to her owner while she watches TV and staring up adoringly at her. "She stares at me quite a lot. My parents tell me every time I walk around our home she watches me all the time," Lauren said. "My favorite thing about her is that even though she was, I can assume used to financial gain, the love that she has provided me since I have brought her home, no money could ever put a price on that love I feel from her." The video gained thousands of views on TikTok and in the comments fellow pet lovers shared their joy at Peggy's heartwarming staring. "Her face! She's perfect," said viewer Jack. While another viewer said: "That beautiful little face is so full of love." "She's a beautiful girl, and lucky to have been rescued by you," said another TikToker. "I share all of her life on TikTok and she seems to have a happy following of supportive people," Lauren said. "The reaction to my latest photo has been lovely to see. Sometimes people can understandably be wary of dogs, but she honestly is just so loving and it's lovely to see that people feel the same way about her through the video."

Billy Joel Drops Massive 115-Song ‘And So It Goes' Companion Playlist

Following the premiere of the second part of Billy Joel's And So It Goes documentary, the Piano Man dropped a massive 155-song companion album on digital services featuring unreleased recordings and more. Never-before-heard music from Joel's archives are peppered throughout the five-hour HBO documentary, from his early days with Long Island rockers the Hassles to his orchestral and instrumental works. A New Five-Hour Doc Shows How and Why The seven-hour And So It Goes, a 'musical companion' to the documentary, features dozens of unreleased live recordings and demo versions, including historic moments like Joel's first-ever live performance of his epic 'Scenes From an Italian Restaurant,' recorded May 6, 1977 at Long Island's C.W. Post College. The soundtrack also includes album tracks from the catalog, and in some cases Joel's own introductions to the songs. ''Big Shot' was a hangover song,' Joel explained in the intro to that track. 'I don't know how many times I woke up in the morning realizing I was an idiot the night before, felt like hell, had a hungover. You look in the mirror and you go, 'You had to be a big shot, didn't you?'' On Joel's YouTube, which also compiled the 155-song playlist, the songs are accompanied by their corresponding visuals when available, whether live concert footage or Joel's gloriously aged music videos. In Rolling Stone's review of the two-part doc, David Browne wrote, 'For all his foibles, his reputation as the 'brat' of pop music, as one critic put it, Joel remains strangely endearing, almost lovable, by the time the final credits roll. Unlike most of the rock-vet pals who weigh in on his saga, he truly does seem like someone you'd want to share a beverage with — even if you worry he'll purposefully pour it onto your lap if you say the wrong thing.'
